He also said gray was placed in leg irons during the trip to the hospital and the van made several stops, one to pick up another prisoner, even though gray was pleading for medical help. The handwritten report by the arresting officer says gray was arrested without force or incident, but rodriguez was asked about news reports that an officer subdued gray with a knee on his neck. None of the officers described any use of force. I know that when mr. Gray was placed inside that van, he was able to talk. He was upset. And when mr. Gray was taken out of that van, he could not talk and he could not breathe. Reporter a new study found that from the 1970s through 1999, most of the f. B. I. s examiners in the hair comparison unit provided erroneous information at trial, and in 268 cases where those forensics led to a conviction, 96 of the time it was based on flawed analysis. Nine of those defendants were executed, while five others died on death row. Those numbers are just from one area. Were going to see a much bigger problem. Reporter dr. Frederic whitehurst is an f. B. I. Whistleblower whose complaints ultimately led to a Justice Department review. It isnt about vindication. Its about the people that have been harmed and our image of our Justice System has been harmed by the f. B. I. s inability to police its own. The Italian Coast Guard is still scouring the Mediterranean Sea for survivors of yesterdays disaster off the coast of libya, but many here fear theyll only find more bodies.
