There are ideas there are some ideas out there that somehow this change was designed to enable some nefarious purpose. They should all look at the simple fact that it was bill taylor that replaced ambassador yovanovitch. Reporter the secretary of state has also stayed silent on jennifer williams, a state Department Aide who the president derided this weekend as a never trumper even though shes detailed for the Vice President s office. Williams is one of three witnesses testifying tomorrow who all listened in on the president s july phone call with the president of ukraine. They all found it unusual and inappropriate or potentially damaging for President Trump to push ukraine to look into Vice President biden and his son. California democrat Jackie Speier will question them tomorrow. I think youll hear from all of them that this was like a bombshell in the white house. Reporter the president s defenders still insist there isnt enough evidence that he was aware of this pressure campaign, but new emails show that wednesdays star witness, ambassador gordon sondland, was keeping the president s acting reief of staff and other top officials regularly apprised of his efforts to convince ukrainian officials to open investigations. Isnt it fair to say that he didnt answer many of your questions, but where he did, his answers show that he wasnt always being truthful . I would say generally. Inn of justice as an article of impeachment. Impeachment to me is a dirty word. Reporter which may be why sources at the white house were surprised today when the president tweeted he now likes the idea of submitting written answers to congress about the ukraine investigation and will strongly consider it. An apparent response to House Speaker Nancy Pelosis nvitation on face the nation. The president could come fore the committee and speak all the truth he wants. You dont expect him to do that. Reporter the queen was out riding today. The palace will only say she was aware an interview took place and Prince Andrew will continue with his duties. Arrogant and naive were some of the other comments on the Prince Andrew interview. As for the public reaction, one poll out tonight, norah, says as many as 6 of people here believe what he said. Odonnell thats a small number, mark. Thank you. Tonight a cbs news investigation has uncovered a possible payto play scheme involving the Republican National committee and President Trumps choice for u. S. Ambassador to the bahamas. No, because first of all, you have to get out of committee and you have to be voted on the floor. Its a big process. Reporter a process that he quickly addressed. He wrote back to mcdaniels request for 500,000. As you know, i am not supposed to do any, but my wife is sending a contribution for 100,000. Assuming i get voted out of the Foreign Relations committee on wednesday to the floor, we need u u to have the majority leader bring it to a majority vote. Once confirmed, i, our family, will respond. You know what this looks like. Well, it looks like that to tu, but my wife gave out a separate fund. And she, in fact, loves donald trump. We had concerns just about judgment, about demeanor. Reporter former senator bob corker chaired the Foreign Relations committee and held up manchesters nomination. We told him about Ronna Mcdaniels 500,000 fundraising pitch. The timing of that request obviously was not appropriate. Reporter even worse he says, res manchesters response. His big mistake copying ftaffers of two of the senators ho controlled his nomination, including idahos jim risch, the current chairman, alerting them to his willingness to donate more after confirmation. O i can only tell you that if i had received an email like that, there would have been a five lell alarm that went off. Reporter and thats exactly what happened.
