From new mexico in the west to iossachusetts in the east, the combination of heat and humidity made 90 degrees feel like 100 degrees or more. Children are also at greater risk. So far this year 21 children have died after being left in cars, a risk that rises with the trcury. Its never safe to leave a child in a car, even for a few minutes. A second person, an 11 year old boy, was critically injured. There have been a series of crashing involving float planes in alaska. Were now going to go overseas n that breaking news in the middle east. Tensions with iran were already running high after the u. S. Downed an iranian drone yesterday. Ten today iran seized two british tankers in the strait of hormuz. One was later released. Now, this comes as the u. S. Military buildup in the middle ist continues. S w night, news cameras captured exclusive video of u. S. Patriot air Defense Missile batteries being deployed in the Saudi Arabian desert. These were all manned by american troops. We have also learned that u. S. Central command has patrol aircraft monitoring the situation in the strait of hormuz. David martin is the only Network Correspondent traveling with the mp u. S. Yesterday iran released this video of small boats circling a e. A. E. Base tanker just before seizing it last sunday. Add that to an earlier unsuccessful attempt to seize a ritish tanker in the mining of six other tankers and iran has turned the strait of hormuz, through which 20 of the worlds oil passes, into a hazardous journey. U. S. Warships made that same journey yesterday under the eyes of iranian drones. Iran released some of that video today but denied the u. S. S. Boxer brought down one of those drones by electronically jamming its flight controls. Norah, that downing of the iranian drone was a minor incident, which might have gone unnoticed had not the president announced it. But seizing a british tanker, a ship operated by americas closest ally, is a major escalation of what is an alreadytense confrontation. Lieutenant dotson was leonards platoon leader in vietnam when in april 1970 their group was attacked and leonard was killed. They loaded his body on a helicopter like this one and immediately the platoon went back to war. That was the extent of our grieving. And it just hit me one day. Iwoke up and i thought, i never had a chance to say thank you. Maybe i just needed some finality. Reporter when perry mentioned this pilgrimage to some of the other guys in his platoon, he found out something he hadnt considered before that he wasnt alone, that there were others who felt the exact same way.
