In a devastating deja vu raging rivers of water tore through the heart of Ellicott City leaving homes and businesses flooded. And some residents scrambling for dry ground. Its like up to the top of the door there. Reporter fire Officials Say about 300 people were rescued. 30 were in serious danger. Still unaccounted for, 39 year old Eddison Hermond. The army National Guard member was helping a woman find her pet when he was swept away. Rescue crews are checking these vehicles, they are checking this area, making sure that there is no one in any of these cars. Udok at that one down there it is filled with mud, rocks, other debris that it picked up as it was being dragged down this stream during the height of the storm. The historic mill town went through what was supposed to be neonceinalifetime flood just two years ago. Some businesses had only recently reopened. This is a crippling setback. Howard county executive Allen Kittleman said the county just received funding for planned storm Protection Fund and veainage pipes to prevent this kind of flooding. Storm surge and Tropical Storm warnings are up in alabama and the Florida Panhandle. Torrential rain is forecast as alberto heads north. Manual bojorquez is in panama city, florida. N reporter the first named storm of the Hurricane Season arrived early. Alberto roared on to the Florida Panhandle today with 45 mile an hour winds and the threat of flash flooding. With up to a foot of rain possible along its track. States of emergency were declared in florida, mississippi and alabama. Its impact was widereaching. At its height Tropical Storm force winds extended 90 miles from the core. The center of the storm swiped Panama City Beach around noon, the wind speeds increased. Just take a look at that surf. So we have flash flood watches out across much of the lutheast, an area that has seen a whole lot of rain in the last couple of weeks as it is. The core of heavy rain with the center of circulation across alabama, tennessee, and western kentucky where we will see the biggest rain amounts with tropical downpours east of the track as well.
