There have been sporadic Anti Government protests in turkey since last summer when tens of thousands of people took to the streets angry with the countrys Prime Minister recurrent tayyip erdogan. The demonstrators accuse erdogan of behaving like a dictator and imposing his own conservative islamic values on the country. Now his opponents claim hes using the internet regulations to cover up a recent corruption scandal. But the Prime Minister still commands the adoration of many turks. At a rally yesterday in istanbul erdogan told his supporters that the new laws will make the internet safer. Armstrong touched off a fire storm last week when he made the cut in the match at aol to the cost to two employees who had given birth to what he called distressed babies. Aol announced the change to 401 k match, instead of matching based on every single pay period, they were going to match at the end of the year. The fact of the impact of landing from a ski jump could damage a girls reproductive organs is just nonsense. But whats not nonsense is what landing a ski jump can do to a womens knee according to dr. Sabrina strictland. They are not equal. Women most likely have at least a two time risk of having a ligament injury. Strictland a former competitive skier is an Orthopedic Surgeon in new york. She says in women the acl is simply not made to withstand the forces a jump places on it. The normal compensatory mechanisms that sort of help save our knees work better in men than women. Reporter by flexing their quad muscles the large ones on the side of the thigh, strictland says men give additional lateral support to their acls. But women flex their hamstrings and the back of the leg and that offers no protection against the acl being torn if the skiers balance is at all off. Sarah hendrickson injured her knee so badly last summer it was questionable whether she would make it to sochi. She is there now but has had difficult training runs and is complaining her knee hurts. Coach stone says injuries are a part of the sport. For women an men. I worry for any of our skiers or any skiers that go down.
