four types of games to help parents manage online interaction. >> good morning. you know, for most kids, any computer with an internet connection is actually a game machine. whether they're puzzles, shooter-type games or dress-up. there is a game for every interest and every age and since online games are also available wirelessly now, your kids can play them on any mobile device with an internet connection. and the shear volume and immediacy of online games can be pretty daunting to many parents like me. but if you understand the four main types of online games, then you can pretty easily manage games for children of every age. here is the first. the internet game that can be played in your browser and they're free. and kids can simply go to the site and start playing. these are generally called flash games or casual games and they're the ones that are offered on most kid's web sites. the second are online game portals. like mini clips and crazy monkey which offer a huge array of flash games. many of the games on these sites are not appropriate for all ages. plus, they also have tons of ads and contests that can carrie mal waáer and spy ware to mess up your computer and the third are mmog, massive online games and war craft which are designed for ages 13 and up and a lot like the video games on video game consoles and they offering anything goes game play against players all across the internet and all across the world for that matter and they often require off-site purchases. the final kind are called virtual world games. like the very popular club penguin for kids. which are virtual playgrounds where children create avatars that socialize, and play games, and create their own space. now, virtual world offers various levels of chat between players. and they're often monitored for inappropriate conversations. and gaming should be fun. for your kids and for the whole family. so by keeping an eye on the clock, setting clear limits in the gaming destination, kids can enjay themselves and parents can -- enjoy themselves and parents can ensure that their kids are choosing age appropriate entertainment. pour more background and information on online games, visit us at cbs 5 .com or go to all of the tips an tools at common sense.org. and get to know those online games your kids are playing. have a great weekend. i'm jim stier. >> thanks,
