It is still a mystery why a group of people would break into the mansion of a wealthy businessman, kill him and beat up his wife. One of four people arrested appeared in court today. 21yearold Javier Garcia faces six felony charges in the murder of raveesh kumra. He was found dead in his monte sereno mansion on november 30. Count 1 is murder. Theyre also charged with Home Invasion robbery. Police have arrested three other suspects in the case. They range in age from 21 to 26. Who would steal a dog and then throw it into traffic . Police want you to look closely at a major new clue. We showed it to the victim to see what she says about it. Reporter police say the man seen running away in this video had just mugged a woman and threw her dog into oncoming traffic. The victim still lives in the shadow of that crime, wanting to remain anonymous and fearing for her life. Seeing everything in my head again and wanting to break everything and just scream at the top of my lungs, because i miss her and im angry. Reporter the crime happened last friday in San Franciscos tenderloin district. The woman was looking for a cell phone in her car. She says a man walked up and demanded money. He pocketchecked her and got only a few dollars. The woman says her 12yearold dog roxie was in the car and barked at the suspect. When she didnt have enough money, he took her dog, lifted it over his head and hurled it into moving traffic. Reporter support for the woman has been pouring in. A few even offered her a new dog. But shes not ready to move on. In time. But right now, im grieving. Reporter we showed her the surveillance footage. She posted it on a facebook page, set up in memory of roxie. Police say the africanamerican man is about 6foot1, lean and clean shaven. Were gonna get you. Reporter police hope if anyone recognized the man in this video, they will call San Francisco police. There is a 3,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. The man who was swept out to sea trying to save his dog has been identified as 59year old Charlie Quaid of richmond. They were walking their dog at point reyes. All of a sudden, they were hit by a wave and swept out to water. Fortunately, both people got out just in time. Authorities say a jet skidded off the runway at the North Las Vegas airport this afternoon. The plane burst into planes. The pilot and passenger got out and ran before flames engulfed the cabin. They werent hurt. It took about an hour to put out the fire. No word on what caused the accident. The fiscal cliff is over. But congress has another mess to clean up. After the house yanked a vote on super storm sustained relief. Late last night, the house put off its vote, leaving it to the next congress. A teen is accused of spiking her parents milk shakes with sleeping pills so the teen could use the internet. And her mother tells cbs reporter laura cole its not even the first time her daughter has drugged her. I was shocked. I didnt expect it to happen out here. Reporter thats the sentiment, after the teens mother says her daughter drugged her and her father to get online. They became the teens legal guardians after she was their foster child. Now shes facing serious charges, after investigators say she put her friends sleeping pills in their milk shakes. I only had about a quarter of the milk shake, but they ended up falling asleep. Reporter mom says the milk shake tasted odd. It was the second time she felt strange. So she started checking into her daughters internet and phone use. When she confronted her, she says the teen admitted to the drugging, claiming she was too strict. We believe it was all about internet usage. Reporter she cant use the internet after 10 p. M. But after she says her daughter drugged her for the second time, she drove her to the police department. Mom felt it was important her teenager faced the consequences. Neighbors here agree. Yeah. I believe it was responsible parenting. What theyre doing is sending a signal, not just to the child, but to other kids, that hey, this stuff is not acceptable. Reporter her daughter is in Juvenile Hall tonight. Both teens are facing serious charges, including conspiracy and felony drugging. Were getting a closer look at the driver accused of causing a deadly crash while fleeing San Francisco police. A witness got these shots as he was led away from the scene outside a Mission District market yesterday. Officers say he is 19yearold david morales, a known gang member suspected of shooting at several people. They say when they tried to pull him over, he took off and slammed into another car. That impact killed the woman in that car and a man on the street. A memorial to the victims is now growing outside the market where they died. Morales is charged with two counts of murder. He also faces attempted murder and firearms charges for the shooting incident. We learned today that one of the biggest risks on the road comes from unlicensed drivers. Cbs 5 reporter jeff nguyen says they arent just breaking the law, theyre making our streets much more deadly. Hes out of my hands and out of my heart. Reporter she says her life has new purpose, after the death of her son nearly six months ago. This is a picture of the crash that killed dominique durden. He was on his motorcycle when he was hit by an unlicensed driver. A new study from the department of Motor Vehicles found that suspend or revoked drivers and unlicensed drivers are more dangerous on the road than licensed drivers. The dmv says they are nearly three times more likely to cause a fatal crash. What goes through your mind when you hear the phrase unlicensed driver . Take the car away. Thats the first thing in my head. Reporter the issue of unlicensed drivers drew headlines in april of last year, when the lapd implemented a new policy that allowed unlicensed drivers to reclaim their cars without a 30day wait period if they were stopped for a minor defense. The study did have one recommendation. The study did recommend that it seems to work. Reporter the dmv study used crash data and found the at fault risk of unlicensed drivers did not dip over time. Sabina wears a locket with her sons ash. She says the driver charged with hitting her son already had two dui arrests. Now, her new mission in life is to fight for tougher laws when it comes to unlicensed drivers. If this guy didnt have his truck, my son might still be alive.
