washington. now back to you. >> thank you. in other news now. tonight oakland police say they are not ruling out the possibility that a well known restaurant owner was targeted. jesus compost was killed at his restaurant on international boulevard. the area is seeing its share of violence. elizabeth cook shows us today killing seemed to hit close to home for local leaders and police. >> reporter: in some neighborhoods there are restaurants but in fruitvale it is a community backbone. he built his american dream. >> he work 16 hours a day seven days a week trying to help the community. he ends up here. it's not right. >> reporter: just before dawn two gunmen silenced the dream that took 30 years to build. >> someone in our family gets hurt we take it personal. >> reporter: he is known in the fruitvale was opening his restaurant at 5:30 a.m. this morning. he didn't know two gunmen were waiting waiting in wait. >> i'm sure they were waiting for him. it is reasonable to believe that maybe he was targeted because he is owner of a successful business. we can't rule that out. >> reporter: oakland police will say they believe it was a botched robbery. he was raced to highland hospital. he died as emergency teams tried to save him. within hours of the news of compost's death oakland mayor jean quan took to the air waves in a press conference. >> he was a well known leader of our community. clearly a leader of the fruitvale neighborhood. >> reporter: friends, family and neighbors gathered outside his restaurant in silent vigil. but one man did speak saying he helped him build his deli and came back to honor a fallen community angel. >> he was one of the pillars of the community. he treated everybody well. very interesting human being. and everything he did he did it to better the community. >> mayor quan says he expects the reward money to total $70,000. oakland police say they are spending an extra $150,000 a month of overtime to put extra resources in the city's most dangerous areas including international boulevard where compost was murdered. >> so sad for the family. all right, elizabeth, thank you. the jury in the barry bonds perjury trial will reach again next week. joe vazquez reports that jury members are taking a closer look at key pieces of evidence. >> reporter: the jury asked the judge if they could look at transcripts related to steve and kathy hoskins. kathy hov hoskins claims she saw greg anderson injecting barry bonds with a syringe and steve hoskins claims he made a secret recording talking to greg anderson about injecting bonds with steroids. >> the judge in the case ordered bonds' former trainer greg anderson out of jail. he has been behind bars since refusing to testify against barry bonds. being hit by a suspected drunk driver. it happened overnight on interstate 880 at baskin avenue in san jose. the officer was hit when he tried to help a driver who broke down after a hail storm. the driver who hit the officer was arrested for dui. the officer will need to undergo surgery for a broken leg. more felony charges were filed today for a former sheriff's department along with commander of the narcotics enforcement team. 16 criminal cases in contra costa county dropped by the district attorney because they are tainted by those officers. he was charged in february of stealing drug evidence. today the other was charged with three counts of conspiracy. tonight capitola shop owners are preparing to welcome customers back tomorrow for a revival party. the area flooded not once but twice just about two weeks ago. mark sayre shows us how they are getting creative to keep their businesses afloat. >> reporter: like so many business owners they are making the most of a bad situation. her craft store wiped out during floods two weeks ago has reopened inside a garage. >> it is very different and it is kind of fun. we are really having a good time. we had lots of people helping us set up. so it went a lot faster than we thought. >> reporter: it was march 26th when flood waters came rushing through capitola village. the total damage estimated at $10 million. about a dozen displaced shops are now operating in temporary quarters including this big outdoor tent. >> it is an adventure. it is like someone came and told me one of my customers when you get a lemon make lemonade out of it. a revival party to show visitors and shoppers alike despite all problems they have had here the town is open for business. >> we are doing good. we are doing much better this week. >> you have had a long road? >> it has been. our community has come together. we are working together to put back our community and we are doing it. >> reporter: the drainage pipe that ruptured and triggered the flood is now in place but there is still plenty of work to be done to prepare all of the damage. a visitor from texas heard about the flooding and may a specific point of coming to capitola to spend some money. >> so i needed to come down here and patronize the storm, patronize the floor and help out. i think it is a real tragedy. >> reporter: the revival party begins at 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon. mark sayre, cbs5. it is more than 10.5 hours away but people have already started lining up. why these people will be spending the night in an oakland parking lot. and it is the end of an era in the east bay. >> you very well may be feeling the chill at this hour. much of the bay area in the upper 40s but this weekend, well, it promises something much warmer. just how warm
