Darren peck is in for jessica birch and whats the latest with the bay area weather . A replay of what yesterday was like. If belook at the live picture right now from the top of the Mark Hopkins Hotel, looking back towards the Salesforce Tower and the rest o the San Francisco, its marine layer gray here and it is marin layer gray everywhere. This is one of those mornings where were all waking up to the gray blanket. Its enough that you are actually seeing a little bi of mist if you are anywhere nea the coast. And the city. Or up in the hills. Like if you are i the hills on the east bay or peninsula. The marine layer is thick enough that were getting a little bit of light mist out of it. Thats the view from the top of mount diablo by the way. Looking out over inland Contra Costa County here. Trivalley looks just the same. You can se how widespread it is now. Ill walk you through the timingof that coming up in just a bit. But for right now, the numbers out the door are pretty much lo to mid60s wherever you are and for daytime highs its going to be almost the same exact thing you had on thursday. That means you are going to be in the mid 80s for the inland valleys and the temperatures are two, three degrees below average for this time of year, technically you are cooler than average but not enough to really point anything out extreme way. This day is exactly what the middle of september should feel like for us. Upper 60s in the city and 8 in san jose and theres a cooldown for the weekend. Ill show you how much lower those numbers are going to go coming up in just a bit. For now, gianna, over to you. All right, thank you. Good morning and if you are getting ready to hop on the freeways this morning, bay bridge backin up a little bitment caltrans, the metering lights are officially on at the bay bridge toll plaza. So were starting t see just a bit of a slowdown. Not too bad though. Right at th parking lot there as you head over into San Francisco. So things might be just a little crowded. More volume for sure for anyone making that commute into the city. If you are makin that ride via the golden gate bridge, into San Francisco this morning, so far, so good. Were not seeing in i delays or issues. Even visibility looks pretty good. And clear ride so far on the san mateo bridge in both directions. Well, all this week weve been focusing on the future of technology and its impact on th bay area. We started with dreamforce in San Francisco and a focus on Artificial Intelligence. Well, one of the most intriguing ways that technology is being used now is increasing safety on public transit. Shawn chitnis is live in San Francisco this morning with the look at one bay area companys plan to make your commute a little safer and i like this part, shawn. Its hoped it should make it easier for bus drivers too. Reporter gianna, thats right. Well we certainly know that ridership is down compared to prepandemic levels. For all major agencies. But specificall for buses we know that theyve been facing some unique challenges in recent years. So take a look at the technology that hayden ai based here in sa francisco has. If you look up here chris carson still remembers the moment that helpe to inspire the mission of hayde ai. I was inside inner sunset in San Francisco riding a transit bus. And in the past, i was ver focused on understanding driver behavior. Reporter while on muni that day, he realized the driver had to keep pushing a button to capture photos showing cars tha were not parked legally. I thought to myself that we could start to automate that. Reporter and hayden ai has done just that. Allowing the bu driver to focus on their job an help transit agencies get bette at enforcement, as well as collect more data related to safety. If you were trying to monito parking from across the city, you can imagine you were probably need an army of human beings to monitor that. Reporter but with artificia intelligence, the technology knows based on gps that certain sections of the road are designated bus lanes. And cars shouldnt be parked there. Theres no technology thats inherently bad or good. Its ho you apply the technology. Reporter we got a chance to see how it works with one of hayden ais vans that replicate the conditions of a bus. As we drove around sf, the technology is constantly checking to see i a car is in the right spot. In our case, we are using ai for public good. Improving Transit Bus Services for millions of riders already. Reporter according to hayde ai, the software is helping buses move around cities faster and ridership is up, and on tim departures are increasing. Part of our mission is also to help give tools to transit agencies that theyve never had in the past. So they can find ways to improve the ridership experience. Reporter and so we were trying to show those cameras that are part of the equipment here had some technical difficulties here. But there yo can see there are two cameras mounted on the van here. One is the ai capturing the cars that might be illegally parked. The other is the license plate reader. You just saw me on camera. That was not recording me. Only when theres an illega action that is happening that the equipment starts to record. Soothest part of the privacy thats there. We know this is being used in dc and new york and theres pilot programs in Southern California and potentially it could be coming here to the bay area one day. Guys, back to you. Shawn chitnis is street legal. Just to make sure everybody on the broadcast knows. Still ahead on the morning edition were talking oakland. This is an inexcusable misse opportunity. Well, this morning, members from the United Auto Workers union launched a history making strike against the big three american automakers. Now while we were all settling in last night, in detroit workers were walking off the job. In fact, this is one of the largest labo strikes to thinks the United States in years. Still, were not talking about a massive walkout. Rather sort of a warning shot. The series of strikes and a number of small factories. The unite auto workers president says today talks likely wont happen. Meanwhile a federal grand jury indicted hunter biden. Tha was back in 2018 when he was a drug user, at the time, the president s son was accused of lying about drug use on a federal gun form and thats really what prosecutors are going to be looking at closely. A third count claims he knowingly possessed a firearm while on drugs. These charges come only two months after his plea deal broke down. In a statement, Hunter Bidens lawye accused the special counsel of bending to political pressure. Up and down the north atlantic coast, parts of new england and canada are preparin for hurricane lee. The category 1 storm headed their way. And the National Weather service is expecting it to stay a large an dangerous cyclone as it continues to make its way north that storm is expected to make landfall over the weekend. All right. So lets talk to darren pec about our weather going into th weekend. Guys im coming to you live from the virtual set which i dont think you have had a chance yet to see. On this newscast. But its something that weve been implementing across the board here on pretty much all the newscasts and you can see a lot more of it if you havent seen it yet. Where im standing . In the middle of the bay. Right now. And you can see a three dimensional display dow below me which pulls out all th beautiful topography for the beautiful microclimates weve got. A live picture there from the top of Black Mountain looking across Santa Clara Valley, but right now what id like to do is actually bring in the current temperatures for ho it feels across the bay. And if you look down in the south bay, the numbers range from the low 60s in san jose to 57 in los gatos and 58 morgan hill right now. Pretty typical. The marine layer everywhere and you can se in that live picture there from black fountain, its gray. Over Santa Clara Valley entirely. Bu its also grayed over for the trivalley right now and you ar looking at the marine layer there and 62 degrees in livermore and 64 in fremont right now. We come back into th bay and we check in the numbers on the peninsula. Redwood city your numbers still in the 50s. Out at the coast i dont think you are going to see much sunshine at all today. Halfmoo bay, you are just down there on a bottom of the frame. And the numbers for halfmoon bay today will be in the for the most part, climbing barely to the mi 60s and you will probably stay gray most of the day. But comin back to the heart of the bay here for San Francisco and oakland, this is the part of th bay thats going to hold on to little bit of the marine layer inland. I think were going to continue to see just a little bit of the marine layer streaming in across alcatraz an back towards the immediate east bay shore. Pretty much all day today. Almost like a summer day in that sense. Where the marine layer never disappears through that little regional but everywhere else here is going t have sunshine by about 11 00 a. M. And that means you are looking at the mid 60s now for inland Contra Costa County. But your numbers today will climb into the mid 80s. You are going to go up 20 degrees over there where you are right now with plenty of sunshine and its a similar story too over in the north bay. We can pick out some of the locations up there. Whic are also sitting in the mid 60s at this point. Temperatures thi time of day, this time of year, arent really going to range to wildly. Across most of the bay. And thats exactly what were seeing. So well say goodbye t the High Resolution imagery of the map below me and i want to bring in the 7 day forecast. Because what we see in the 7 da forecast is a noticeable cooldown if you are inland and were going to start out with our inland microclimates here. The numbers are going to be in the mid 80s today and we were talking about this just a secon ago. You have plenty of sunshin here and its going to be just pretty much just like yesterday was. But where we see the trend shows up right about here and you know its not like its a cold snap. Not a dramatic drop in numbers but you are going to bring the temperatures down to the 70s. For the inland valleys you should be right around 87 this time of year. So to go dow to the upper 70s and noticeable cooldown by the time you get there, and you can take a look across the rest of the numbers here. And there really isnt that much of a change. We might warm up a bit. Once we get towards the end of next week. And lets bring in our other microclimate now just to show what you the 7 day is going to be like eight right through the immediate bay and its a simila story here. You can see theres a little bit of a cooldown that shows up by the time we get int sunday. And that means you know you are going down a degree. An then you will warm back up agai as we get back over here toward the early and middle part of next week where the numbers wil be in the mid 70s once again. S its that time of year, we don have any major swings. And theres nothing dramatic happening. These numbers are pretty much exactly what the climate book will tell us the average for this time of year, see you with more on this comin up in the next half hour, giann is watching the drive. Darren, my perspective of the roadways is not as incredible and fancy as yours. What a great way to see our new way that we tell our weather story here on cbs news bay area thank you for that. And so very interesting. All right, but loo at this. Bay bridge toll plaza, what i can tell you there are a lot of brake lights out there and how quickly this escalated unfortunately. A slow commute now. Not so fred light unfortunately, metering lights were turned on about 20 minutes ago and now we are seeing some pretty slow and go conditions going into San Francisco. That pretty slow at least to the first overpass. So hopefully it doesnt get too bad this morning. Less cars on roadway. But there are a lot of people still in town dreamforce wrappe up yesterday. Maybe they are enjoying the sights of our beautiful bay area. Live look a the golden gate bridge, hopefully you can check this out. Looks like visibility is nice across the span with no delays heading into San Francisco right now. Everything is moving along pretty nicely. That marin county commute has been a quiet one and san mateo bridge Holding Steady with an easy ride right now between 880 and 101. Looking at just about 14 minutes as you work your way between the nimitz over to the peninsula. Reed . Well, we are your community station and were working very hard to build bridges in our communities. This morning, we celebrate the start of Rosh Hashanah. Two Day Celebration marking the start of the jewish new year. Joining us this morning in studio are rabbis to teach us more about this special holiday happy Rosh Hashanah to the two of you. Is it your off day today . A real on day. And you guys brought treats so you know the key to our hear hearts here on the set. The biggest treat that we have today is that the almighty king himself comes out from his throne. And comes and hangs with the people. Thats you, me all of us here and all of you out there because otherwise hes seeing people an hes business all year. And he present livor busy but the king of kings wants to hear what we have to say and what we needs for the coming year. Hes with us all everybody. Everybody were going to have a good time today. Thats what i understand im sure you will. Tell us a little bet about the traditions and the celebrations. It starts tonight and extends all the way until sunday. So this year, were celebrating 5,784 years since creation. And Rosh Hashanah is the holiday that celebrates the new year. Rosh means head and shanah means year and we blow the shah far. So far, so good. Even better hes been doing Community Work for almost 50 years. And hes the rabbi for the warriors and giants and he blows it ever year at jewish heritage flight. Its a simple sound thats just kind of like a cry from the inner depths of a person. To god. And god reciprocates with blessing us with a new year. Its with renewal. It evokes a renewal of blessing and want to wish everybody a happy and healthy sweet year. We also hav over here honey cake. Why do we have honey cake . Because we giv our friends and i brought some here in the studio with me today. To leave with you. We give our friends and family honey cakes so they should internalize the sweetness and w should share it with our friend and family. I love it and you know were at such a divisive time in out of country. A chance to wipe th slate clean and connect community. Why is that so fundamental this new start and new connections sharing this sweetness so to speak . So were gods children. And god gets the most pleasure like any parent, when their children are happy. So the main thing is is coming together over food, over prayer, actually the th ten day period culminates with yom kippur which were going to celebrate at the Fairmont Hotel the some ole prayer, we annul our promises and vows and were celebrating at the fairmont and were honoring tony bennett. Tonys daughter is going to joi us Antonia Bennett and give us talk about her journey with her dad and should be very special. Were also hosting two events i nob hill and so ma for Rosh Hashanah tonight and tomorrow and sunday well have the blowing at our habada so ma location and nob hill. But around the bay area theres 70 locations of houses and many other synagogues and you will see people blowing it on the streets. The main thing is the abbyment many people are afraid of going into the synagogue. Theres membership and theres different inhibitors we blow it with the rabbi. Mr. Happy and meaningful starts. Rabbis, thank you so much. Do you think you can bring that to the next giants game . They need all the help they can get right now. When we blow throughout the year it brings alive creation. So we have fun with it. But theres some meaning to. Very powerful meaning. My dad always brings it to the giants games and anywhere. So thank you so much for having us on. Thank you. Really grateful its a pleasure. Yeah of course and enjoy you next two days. To you and your families. Thank you so much and i love your jacket. The grateful yiddish. As we catch up with them were moving on. The time now 6 21. It could be a last hope for the as fan st. Vote now on the calendar fo their move out of oakland. Plus thats what we deserve and thats what we were promised. You know, many young people in our country waking up this morning worried they could be deported from the only country theyve ever known. Daca is a protection. How a atat cretors, we handcdcraft everyry batch of our delelicious popopcorn. Like our cretors cheese and caramel mix. Great on their own, even better together. Try cretors, handcrafted smallbatch popcorn. Welcome back. Theres no doubt that the 49ers defense showed up last sunday against the steelers. But theres one thing head coach Kyle Shanahan wishes they did differently. Our matt livel explains in this mornings red and gold report. Reporter the 49ers defense passed the test in week one. , giving up just seven points to the steelers on the road. But this week, a much tougher test against the sean mcvayled rams offense. Quarterback Matt Stafford is healthy and threw for 334 yards in week one. That was the third most in the nfl. But stafford will have his work cut out for him against the 49ers stingy defense. San francisco reeled in two interceptions from steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett including this one in the fourt quarter from Talanoa Hufanga wh funga got fancy trying to lateral the ball to tashaun gipson. But it was ruled a forward pass and called back. And well, hey, head coach Kyle Shanahan wasnt a fan. Not great. Because he didnt lateral it. i also thought the guy in front of him he could have run around. Because he was faster than him. But you know, it was a good setup for the option. If the gu was behind him. No, i didnt think it was that smart. Reporter for the red and gold report, im matt lively. To a developing story in oakland. The as could officially will leaving come november. The Las Vegas Review journal reports that mlb owners have a scheduled date in november to vote on the teams vegas relocation plans. But baseball might return to oaklan sooner than you think. If the as do leave, the city may have a shot at landing an expansion team. So a lot has to happen to make that possible. And Ownership Group would need to show up pretty soon with a chec in their back pocket for 2 billion. Thats the expansion fee. And of course a plan for a new stadium. Its important to show that we are a huge percent of the population. For th first time in History Union workers are on strike against all of the big three automakers the United Auto Workers union failed to reach an agreement with ford, General Motors and stellantis. And now workers are joining the picket line. Cbs news Senior Transportation correspondent kris van cleave i live in wayne, michigan this morning and the big question we have for you this morning is ho is this all going to play out . This is a big move and we can see the people behind you getting started. Reporter reed, good to be with you in San Francisco. This is really an unprecedented strike. Were going to pan over and we can show you the the picket line outside the Ford Michigan Assembly plant where they make the bronco and severa other vehicles. About 3300 workers here at ford. I was jus going toeplate . The union is trying to strategically target key plants with strikes. The three that have been hit. The one here in michigan and ohio and missouri. They make vehicle and trucks and suvs. Vehicles that make a lot of money for th automakers that are popular wit consumers. And thats to send message. Theyre trying to exer the maximum amount of leverage with these small strikes and they will expand it out from here they say with very little notice. So how does it play out its a little bit of a new playbook. But right now, you go about 12,000 of the 140,000, 150,000 United Auto Workers tha work for the three car makers o the picket line. They have they have walked off the job at these three plants. So the question i have, this morning, we understand this is not like a total walkoff. Are these to be seen as sort of warning shots for a greater action that could likely come . Reporter well, i think the union has described it as basically if we dont dont get a deal from this, well, the were going to ramp up the strike at more plants. Economists say this is kind of dangerous strategy in that the spry chain is so interconnected that disrupting a few plants could lead other plants to run out of parts. If they cant build cars the other plants wil shut down and they will essentially be forced out of work because of the strike even technically not even strike. So you know, its three plants today but ripple and effect man more plants even just the three plants. From the automakers side, they said that they have made offers. That the union is really not been engaging the last few days up until just a couple of hours before the deadline last night. They would like to get back to the table. They would like to try to get this done. Auto workers want about a 40 raise. The automakers are at about half that. So theres clearly some big ground to close. We talked with mary barra the ceo of General Motors coming up cbs mornings about what their strategy is. How it impacts the business and how they can try t get everybody back to work. You know, what im watching this morning is how this could affect stocks on wall street. And the ripple effects in our economy. That might be seen as bargaining chip by the unions knowing they can tip the needle on wall street. Reporter well, certainly. I mean, you also have to think about this. You know, the bigge this strike gets the longer it goes, the more it costs. Economists here in the detroit area told us a strike against all three of the automakers, even if lasts just ten days, could cost the economy 5. 6 billion. Nearly a billion of that is lost wages by auto workers. The folks on the line are going to feel it in the pocketbook but so will the businesses around the plants an so suppliers. We talked to a supplier yesterday. If the strike goes on for more than several weeks likely have to start laying off his employees. And then it ripples out to the continue soupers who might be car shopping and cant find a vehicle. So the union knows tha the Auto Industry here in the United States ripples through the entire economy. Thats quite literally yep, thats a bargaining tool. Where the rubber meets the road we can hear the honking behind you people voicing their suppor for those who have walked off the job. We appreciate you so much. Kris van cleave, thank yo so much. Can somebody tell him to maybe take two steps to his left . The mother in me is like themother in me is like oh dear, that car is way too close to him on the side of the road. Holding our breath. I know. We appreciate him jumping out there and telling that story and showing what is happening right now and you might think thats on the other side of the country. But hey, all of you about to get in a ca and drive to work. It could affect not only the Auto Industry now but the economy in the future. Yeah. Hopefully you were not looking to buy a car anytime soon. Because now might not be the time to do it. All right, a look at the forecast today because it is friday. The weekend here everyone. Darren peck in the house, hey. Good morning guys. Wanted to show you the way things look to start out friday morning. Sunrise happening at 6 51. But were looking at about the last 15 minutes of the time lapse from above the Santa Clara Valley. Two things going on here. You have got the marine layer down here and everybody i waking up to gray skies this morning. So whether you are in the Santa Clara Valley, you are looking up at it. Or any part o the bay area you are looking at it and you can see in higher clouds over here, just kind of cool. Thats the view from the top of mount diablo. Same bank of marine layer stratus. But there are some breaks out here. Were looking out to like clayton and you can see the delta out there. There are breaks of sunshine inland already but there are noun here thats that view from underneat the clouds for san jose. Go to the city, no surprise. Thats the view from the Mark Hopkins Hotel where everybody is lookin at the same blanket of gray. Heres how widespread it is now a little slow to melt back. By 10 00 a. M. , its cleared outsid for the inland valleys so you are looking at sunshine by 10 0 a. M. In the trivalley. But it really doesnt clear out for most of the rest of the bay until we get towards late morning and into the early afternoon. And then it will. Yo will have more sunshine than anything else today. Except for the city and the immediate golden gate bridge. Temperature out there now are in the mid 60s. Your daytime highs today are going to be just like yesterday. With plenty of sunshine and you will be in the mid 80s today inland and a lot of mid to upper 70s forest bay theres a cooldown for the weekend so were going to look at that coming up in the complete first alert forecastjust a few minutes. For now, g back to you. Hopefully that this weekend because its friday and it is friday light on some of the freeways. Live look here at the san mateo bridge and you can se traffic is moving along pretty well. We dont have too much going on which is great news fo anyone making that ride between 880 and 101. Now however, there might be still a lot of people in town because of dreamforce. Even though the conference is over. It ended yesterday. There are still quite a few people ou there and in the bay maybe heading out to see some of the touristy spots because look at this backup already friday at the bay bridge. This week the world has bee watching the bay areas dreamforce brought in thousands of out of towners. One of the big headlines is this. Retail theft in the bay area. So new this morning, word that state o california plans to throw money at the problem. Lot of money. I fact more than a quarter of a billion dollars to supercharge the fight against this. The money is there. Cities big and small jumped at the chance to get it. The hope is that scenes like this in fact this one in San Francisco, will be a thing of the past. In fact, this vide is all too common. A smashed ca into the front of the cvs. Police where this happened got more than 15 million from the state. Small cities got the money too. Less than 18,000 people live in colinda but they got that money. Other cities bi and small also got it. But do you know what city didnt get a dime . Oakland. So why . Well, ge this. City and its officials missed the ted line to apply fo the money and now Oaklands Community businesses are gettin even more fed up. Listen. No joking matter, were . A very, very dangerous and precarious time for oakland neighbors and businesses. Publi safety is far and away number one issue and to miss something that would bring millions of dollars at a time when we have budget deficit of over 300 million, this is an inexcusable missed opportunity. Please do something, please take a strong action. Oakland said obviously this outcome is unacceptable. City and department are reviewing everything that happened to mak sure it doesnt happen again. So we reached out to mayor sheng thaos office for her reaction. And to ask if she takes any responsibility for this. So far, we have not had a reply. Lot of disappointed people, reed. Well, today is the first day of hispanic heritage month. And its important to remember the struggle for some in our community. Many who power our farming communities. Its been tough week for the neighbors in the communities after a federal judge ruled that the protection of the program for daca for dreamers is unlawful. Our Jocelyn Moran talked with one san jose dreamer whos worried she may be forced the leave the only country shes ever known some day. I dont remember the trip here, i just one day i was i mexico. The next i was in l. A. And now in san jose california. Reporter she came to the u. S. With her family when she was just 3 years old. Flush flush shes been protected from deportation and has had a work permit through the deferred action for Childhood Arrivals Program better northeastern as daca. When i went to high school and graduated high school. Thankfully thats when daca cam out. Reporter she now has her ow nonprofit that focuses on supporting salespeople like far workers but daca has taken its hits. While she thinks about others who havent been able to apply. Always thinking about the High Schoolers that graduate this past few years where they are not able to just apply to daca. Reporter first time daca applications have been blocked since 2022 when a texas judge found daca unlawful. Thennened wednesday, the same judge ruled that the biden administrations revised version of daca was still unlawful. Existing Daca Recipients like flores have bee in and are still able to renew their daca applications. They are still protected even under this new ruling. But this is likely to go to the supreme court. Just reminding us that oh, you know, you are unlawful. Thats not right. That shouldn have been done this way. Now these news its not that we dont care. But in a way like w feel numb to these news. Becaus imagine someone reminding you like oh, you know, so this year you are redefensive ending your life on this piece of paper and were going to take it away. There is definitely fear. Reporter caesar bautista is an immigration with a nonprofit in san jose. He suggests talk with a lawyer. That qualify for other types of status. Reporter weve talked with her the last few years and she been advocating for the rights of immigrants and farm workers and says whats needed now is immigration reform. I would suggest that we stop fighting for daca and stop trying to keep it and we start fighting for citizenship. Because thats what we defer an thats what we were promised. Time now 6 41. More and more people are relying on technology to find their next date and theyre not just using dating apps to make match. Uhhuh. If you are looking for love. Listen up. Singles ar now turning to Artificial Intelligence to help give them an edge in the Online Dating world. So fresh from dreamforce, this morning we are joined by Data Scientist and cofounder o your move ai. Hes talking abou ai and how its revolutionizing Online Dating. Good morning, we have so many singles or maybe not even singles who are on the apps looking at ai for the weekend. Do you have any tips for us live from the big apple this morning . Use my product. No. [ laughter ] i dont know. Like online conversations and textin are hard. Just find a way to meet up somebody inperson. So much more easy to be charismati and have a great time if you have a facetoface conversatio with somebody in real life. Har to be that give us a pickup line. Look right in the camera and tell us the best pickup line. Oh god. I dont [ laughte ] we we did a we were doing some marketing tech stock recently and the best one i got was are you a seashell because i want to pick you up and take you home with me. Thats all i got. What happened to the good ol safe whats your sign . Too dated . For somebody thats not too conversational with texting or doing the first initial back and forth, can ai help give the a little bit of the edge on tha maybe give them a you know, i dont know just some inspiratio to make that better and more interesting . I think so. I think the way that we see people using ai and the way that i use ai is like helping overcome that initial writers block. Just imagine yourself at like 7 00 a. M. On a subway to work, tired, staring into a phone screen. Look at somebody with three photos and like a two sentence description. Try the find something clever to say to star a conversation. Its really, really hard. I think ai can giv a lot of ideas for how to open up the conversation and take it into interesting places and lik have better conversations and help people get to know each other. Not replace you. But kin of amplify you in a sense. And ultimately help us create more connections. Im super old cool and i met my husband before, you know, dating apps were a thing. Now i have two boys that are growing up so tell me what are the percentages of people actually meeting their soul mate on thes dating apps. I dont know right now over half of the people i think over half of millennials at thi point are meeting their friends their partnersen line. Out o my friend group id say like twothirds of people that are i relationships have met online o through dating apps. Its wild. Congrats on skipping all of that. We didnt have the option. Yeah, i skipped it for mysel but not the kids. We had the abacus to say i love you. Hi, im the horizon. Please dont tinder by th time your kids are older. Got t be Something Better than that. Yeah, you cannot that facetoface conversation, ther is so much more. Plus i dont know if i always trust pictures online. Thank you so much. We appreciate your time. All right. Thank you so much were swiping what is it to say you like somebody swipe right. Left. Were swiping left on you darren. Darren peck knows. Whats your handle on tinder please, im not on tinder bu i at least know its swipe righ if you like somebody. Left if you dont. All right. Now the forecast; this is the view from the top of the Mark Hopkins Hotel. Were looking out north over the city but this could be anywhere in the bay right now in terms of how cloudy it is. On the map just to do the overview everybody is got it. Thats the High Resolution depiction of what the marine layer is doing. So lets melt it back. Well go to about the 10 00 hour this morning. And by the time we get to 10 00 a. M. , its now cleared out of the trivalley so you ar looking at sun. But were still looking at gray for most of the bay. So in that sense its kind of a slow melt back. But in you know, in terms of what a typica meltback of the marine layer is its not super intense or its not going take too long before the majority of us get into sun. Theres going to be a little bit of a sliver that remains over the city and the immediate golden gate bridge. Probably all day today. But everybody else will get plenty of sunshine and daytime highs today are going to be just like yesterday. Heres the review on that. The current numbers all mid 60s now and here are today daytime highs. Two, three degrees below average inland bu almost like yesterday. Santa rosa you will be at 38 and wel go to 82 in san jose and 71 oakland. Now the 7 day forecast there is a subtle cooling trend San Francisco and oakland you are not going to notice. Stay right around 7. But north bay valleys from the mid 80s to the mid and upper 70s for the weekend. San jose look going from 82 to 78. I dont know how much you will notice that. By monday it will be 7. So it th technically cooler here but the inland east bay notices these things more than most places. Mid 80s today and you will be back down into upper 70s by the time we get to sunday and then theres a gradual warmup going into the middle of next week. You will warm back up into the mid 80s. All right, gianna, ove to you. All right, thank you. Lets get taking a look at the roadways this morning. Its friday everyone. Hopefully you have got some fun things planne today and the rest of the weekend. Just looking at that forecast, looks like its going to be some pretty nice temperatures overall. Right now weve got some pretty nice conditions on some of the freeways. That includes the nimitz no delays here both directions at least the area near the coliseum. A live look at 880 as you work northbound right through there and southbound and traffic is movin along pretty well through there a few brake lights south of there heading into havered but thats pretty typical. Getting on the san mateo bridge, look, looks great. No delays westboun working over 101. Aural clear o 101 as well. I was directing and acting every day of my life and my childhood. Its a start of hispanic heritage month. And we bring yo the welcome back. Today marks the first day of hispanic heritage month. And its a mont long celebration of our latino community. And latinos make up almost 20 of the u. S. Population. One of the largest minority groups here in our country. Yet there are still certain areas where representation of the Latinx Community is not reflective of that. Take the film and television industry, for example. According to a recent study by the latino donor collaborative, in 2022, less than 3 of lead actors in Television Shows were latinx an only 1. 3 of directors were latino. Well, one san jose native is doing something to change that. By creating opportunities for latinos in hollywood. We fight, you know, our own characters and so you know, we write what we know. Reporter yara estrada knew from a young age that making movies wasas what she wawas mea do. Me and my friends and cousin would do skits and create scenarios. I was doing it. I wa directing and acting every day of my life in my childhood. Reporter growing up in san jose, that passion f for perfororming starteded early. I used to go to the Church Called cathedral faith. Every year thehey used to hahave the theatrical produductions duduri easter time. I spent all my childhood being in these theatrical plays with my aunt and my sister. Reporter she eventually mad the leap to hollywood as so man do. Pursuing a career in film and television. I mean, i was an extra on al the tv shows. And i mean, i did everything you could think of. Reporter as she looked for those opportunities, auditions were sometimes all the same. Stereotypical roroles. Oneline you know, i did everything i could to get that experience an sort of like find my way. Reporter after years of working to hone her craft, she learned screen writing and the art of directing. I was, you know, behind the scenes just learning and learning constantly. And then finally, 15 years later, i can say that im going to release m directorial debut. Reporter the film is called demise and its a suspenseful romantic thriller. Featuring a diverse cast on and off screen. I had a lot o of latino represenentation in demise in front and behind t the camera. Rereally proud of that. Because its important for our communit and its important to show that we are a huge percent of the populatition. Reporter moving g forward, that something you will always focus on . Yes, and you know, not bebecause its b by force, itt because e naturally iim latin im going to write roles for other latinas. I swear i i will make your l miserable. Your chances s of conceivini are less than 1 . Oh h my god. Reporter what was the inspspiration to, you know, w this storyline . Because it look its very intense. Y yeah, it is. So this is really f funny because growing you know, my mom would watch these movivies. And these rorom thrillers that were so popular, you know, in the 90s. So me an my sister would get into heher stasash and we would start watctching these movies and it kind of led me into writing this, you know, genre of film. Reporter yara creating opportunitities for so m many latinos. By doing what she loves. Okay, so getting t to the in the film making process is taking a couple of yeaears but her, but t now that the e fifi the can as they say in hollywood, she can move into t next phase. Which is distribution. And that means finding a platform to debut her movie. So much work goes into this. On top of the fact that she is very conscious of making sure shes representing her culture and her community. What she does so well and so brilliantly is writing the combination of like the creativ ty and business side of it. Because show business is a business. So much work into telling he story and we thank you for that we got them. Going to be a great month. A month long celebration and im sure shes watching this morning. Good morning, thank yo for sharing that. And you know being from right here in the bay. Making it happen. Camera shot. Yes she can.
