Earlier this morning we got the word the suspect is dead after he was shot during an arrest involving sacramento police. It happened at a home on 16th and adeline street in west oakland. Oakland police say they were at the home to help arrest a homicide suspect. As a man came out pointing a gun and police fired the officers involved are now on customary administrative leave. This Morning Police say 14yearold boy is suspected of setting this fire that destroyed a waymo car in San Franciscos chinatown. You may remember this video , the car was set on fire during dinner near festivities. This was back in february. No one was inside and no one was hurt, thankfully but police will not say what led them to the 14yearold. But did say they found evidence at his home. The juvenile Probation Department will determine if the teenager will be arrested. In San Francisco, District AttorneyBrooke Jenkins has a request this morning. If you were one of the hundreds on the Golden Gate Bridge, during mondays protest, file a report with the california highway patrol. Why . The da says you could have been a victim of false imprisonment in your story it has to be a record. Jenkins i am 26 people arrested during the protest that shut down the bridge for hours in both directions. And needs to see reports filed to consider charges. We know hundreds in the east bay were also stuck in the protest. There is a similar theme from the District Attorney. At 9 03 this morning we are remembering 118 years in San Franciscos great earthquake of 1996 to 7. 9 earthquake caused a lot of devastation in several fires, which took days to put out. Coming out of the damage, concrete became the key tool to construct buildings. Some of which are still around today. This morning city leaders and First Responders held a commemoration event at Lottas Fountain a market street. A wreath was laid at the spot dedicated to the memory of the late senator Dianne Feinstein and those who died in the devastation. Following the ceremony, there was a procession to the gold painted fire hydrant on 20th and Church Street near dolores park. Where it was repainted. In gold. That hydrant was reportedly one of the few that still supplied water at the time to fight the fires after the quake. Earlier we spoke with San Francisco sheriff Paul Miyamoto who was at the fountain reef ceremony this morning and listen to what he said. We need everyones help when things like that happen. Remembering what happened. So we are prepared in the future for what will eventually be another earthquake here in San Francisco is something that is very important to do.
