A group of about 200 people taking over the intersection of samsung and washington right in the middle of rush hour. That was outside the federal office of immigration and Custom Enforcement where protestors linked arms to block the driveway. They were protesting an increase in deportations under the donald trump administration. Two main themes as demonstrators move through the downtown streets; workers rights and immigration policy. For the first time, ive seen so many people getting up and waking up finally and saying, something is wrong reporter thats Roberto Hernandez who kept his kid home from school today to honor the call. Shocking details about the number of sexual assaults that k through 12 campuses exist nationwide. For the first time, the Associated Press tallying the numbers. Jessica is live with the details of the investigation. Reporter its a groundbreaking report that gives us the most complete look at Sexual Violence in schools. The ap investigated high schools, middle schools, and even Elementary Schools across the country. Their work finds thousands of students have sexual assaulted fellow students. Unlike colleges and universities, k through 12 schools arent required by federal law to track sexual assaults. Still, 32 states do require schools to report offenses. California is one of them. California schools reported more than 4500 sexual assaults involving k through 12 students from 2011 to 2015. Nationwide, schools reported 17,000 sexual assaults over the fouryear period. The ap found 5 of reported attacks involved 5 and 6year olds. Incidents jump ages 10 through 11 and continue to climb through age 14. The report dropped through high school. They say schools are underreporting sexual assaults because theres no uniform way to classify offenses.
