This is why local businesses in San Francisco like craftsman and wool, honeycomb salon and wine down are offering a 20 discount off their services or are donating 20 of todays proceeds to organizations that serve women and families. Bigger Companies Like salesforce, pg e and lyft are doing the same. At the end of the day, money speaks so were going to be behind in progressing in so many other ways if we dont close the wage gap. Reporter all women could afford 78 more weeks of food with the wage gap closed, black women 155 more weeks, Hispanic Women 193 weeks more of food. In california women make 14 less than men so slightly better than the national average. But at this rate of progress, there wont be pay equality until 2061. In San Francisco, jackie ward, kpix 5. Theres some breaking news now. A woman shot and killed in a car in richmond and there were two children in the car. It happened about 9 a. M. At rheem avenue and 29th street. Chopper 5 was over the scene just a short time ago as police were investigating. The woman was in her 30s, it was a targeted shooting, no description or suspects. With an east Bay Community growing, there are increasing calls to build a New High School to accommodate new families. Kpix 5s anne makovec reports from dublin. Reporter dublins only high school is bursting at the seams. The elementary and middle schools are packed beyond capacity. And as those students become freshmen, the math doesnt add up. Basically, the infrastructure is not keeping up with the population here in dublin, one of californias Fastest Growing cities. The number of students has doubled in 10 years. Reporter the school board agreed more than a year ago build a Second High School but theres still no solid strategy. Two new online petitions are turning the heat. One accuses the board of dragging its feet. The other says the New High School needs room for at least 2500 students. There are more than 1300 signatures between the two. All these processes take time. So we are close. Reporter a School DistrictSpokesman Says the search has been narrowed to four sites. In the meantime, they will add portable classrooms to dublin high. Real estate is expensive in dublin. Costs are big. And our board is working to make sure we get the best deal we can so we can build the best facility we can. Reporter the district still needs to figure out financing. Voters passed measure h last year, a 283 million bond. 60million from that was issued in november but the next installment of 90 million isnt scheduled until 2019. The districts goal is to have a school open by 2021. In dublin, anne makevoc, kpix 5. To receive measure h funds faster the board could apply for a bonding capacity waiver. The board will hold a hearing on april 25 for public comment. Barts move into Silicon Valley is facing a new hurdle. The railcars arent ready. The San Francisco chronicle reports that while track construction to san jose is ahead of schedule, delivery of the new railcars is way behind.
