Its live, its our hidef doppler radar. Its been picking up rain showers since 2 00 this morning. But this is very light, very gentle precipitation all in advancement of the main event. Lets take a look at it right now as we go ahead and see, we have some light rain showers around the santa rosa area, also around pretty much the gilroy area, lifting up past alum rock into the eastern foothills. Well zero in a little bit on how, um, the rain is coming off the ocean from the west, lifting up north to the east. This is all tapping into subtropical moisture, very showery. We have a band of activity right now over the 680 and 84, its going to be drifting toward the 580 680 corridor which is always messy in the rain. The rain intensifies during the evening commute. The rain will get harder. The winds will increase out of the south to 20 gusts up to 35 Miles Per Hour. There is a potential for a thunderstorm. And as you take a look at this here, youll see that the rain will continue through tomorrow mornings commute. Another cold front slices through the bay area on saturday evening through sunday. Well tell you about a third round of showers heading this way coming up later on in this newscast. People along the crows getting ready for rain, wind and big waves. But we know it is acomin the ocean has been churning here behind me as everybody along the coastline gets ready for a big storm to come. As another round of rain hits the bay area, wave after wave crashes into the pacifica pier. Theres always going to be concerns with any storm that comes our way. Reporter but the Pacifica Public Works Department has been preparing for months shoring up its coastline after a state of emergency last winter. The cliffs were eroding. And part of the seawall at beach boulevard gave way. This storm here, we are concerned about the amount of water, short period of time. Reporter so they have been cleaning the streets and gutters to make sure that water can drain freely and the city is warning wave watchers to not turn their backs to the ocean. Its beautiful. Yeah. Really nice. Reporter mary and roy are vacationing in pacifica from new york. And while they are enjoying the untamed ocean we come to california for sun so [ laughter ] were kind of disappointed. A psychologist in new york showed racial bias and prejudice by testing people who had to make a quick decision to shoot a white or black Person Holding a gun or harmless object. Its tapping into a plume of moisture off the coast. So it has a lot of subtropical nature to it. At this particular time we do see over in the Santa Cruz Mountains area, here you have santa cruz way over here, we going to see an inch of rain there over the next 24 hours. All this activity that wants to lift up towards lexington hills. So plenty of rain still this afternoon but it will intensify and well see the winds pick up. Mostly cloudy skies over san jose right now with the air temperatures at 65. Muggy outside. Winds have not been a factor yet. They have been under 10 Miles Per Hour all over the area. Always have the time, never too busy to stop and help someone. Reporter the chief operating officer says ruby embodies the mission of neighbor helping neighbor. She puts her heart and soul into every meal and really believes that we need to be here to support those in need in our area. I have the salt. Reporter using donations mostly from Second Harvest food bank and Grocery Stores ruby works her magic. So she has to design a meal using whatever comes in and sometimes she doesnt find out until the last minute. On this day, catfish and vegetables are plentiful.
