Look at the top stories and back to you. If you have any business of Santa Clara County, you might want to put a little bit of extra time your budget because thousands of workers in the south are threatening to go on strike on tuesday. If they do, almost everybody down there will feel some threat of impact and 9000 Santa Clara County workers walked off the job on june 30 if they do not get a new contract with everything from hospitals to shelters to garbage collection and even 911 call centers. They help us rally last week think that they cannot afford to live in the county that they sarah. Workers demanded better wages and working conditions, and one veteran 911 dispatcher says that they are just overburdened. We are shore at least 20 or so at the moment and that makes it harder on everybody that lasted people to a no more work overtime and trying to answer as many causes we can. We do not want to go out on strike, but we are at a point where our members have spoken and they are willing to do that. Because they just cannot take it anymore. County executive jeff smith says that they are working to avoid a strike, but they are preparing just in case and he says that essential services will still be available. This is a does it really gets peoples attention unless anyone affected is a 911 call center. That is right. It will be an interesting week down in san jose. And that entire areas of area. Serious concerns about the safety of the bay bridge in the meantime have some often do we need a bay bridge recall . The bad news is rounds more bad news about dollars and thanks into a design flaw, over 100 balls on the 6 billion on sitting in saltwater and maybe starting to crowd. An engineer that i spoke with says that earthquake big or small could cause those bolts to synaptic bridge officials cautioned about jumping to such conclusions. We do not need every single one of those to work in a big earthquake. The question is, right now, bridges safe yes or no . Of course. Completely safe and we may have a maintenance problem. We may not have got to get to the bottom of whether we have a problem so far bad both of cost 50 million and test and fix is and now they may need to be replaced and it is estimated that 280,000 people across the bridge every day programming the words were reassuring obviously but we have heard some really alarming things from other experts think that forget an earthquake, were talking about concerns about this thing with standing daily use. That is right. That goes back and forth and they are going to be testing and they will continue to test. It will continue to cost. As a maintenance is needed on these bolts to keep them safe, that is going to have to cost as well. So this bread, it is indeed turning into the project from help that Steve Hemminger said a couple of weeks back on the station. Very concerning this weekend we got a better look at the options to fix the agent roadways and either way, looks like it is going to come out of our pockets but how is still up in the air. That is right 57 billion backlog and road maintenance throughout the state and that is not even include the locals. The problem is so big that even an extra . 10 hike in the state gasoline tax will not sell the other options are being looked at like giving cities and counties the right to charge tolls on carpool lanes are creating new payasyougo roads or charging people by how many miles they drive by tracking them with centers alike fasttrack. You drive, you pay. The negatives are, it is new to people and people are concerned about being tracked and followed by the government. No. Because i use my card as a business. But i think that it is un american. [ laughter ] the state is also think about doing away with some of the event incentives offered for green pickles and those vehicles that use the less gasoline which is the state get less money from the gas tax and looking at peoples reaction to the possibility of sensors, tracking, your every move i mean, i cannot imagine that would fly because of the big brother concerns that everybody has. Right. Another option is, when you go in and register your car again, they took your odometer and see how many miles you have have a gas hybrid or electric car that does not use as much gas taxes somebody else but you drive is much and maybe they will start changing the Registration Fee and i think that you bought in order to save money and save the planet could wind up costing you more when you go to get a new set of license plates. Back to the whole tracking sector, speaking of that uber meet surging a lot more of it and obviously uber needs to know where you are when you did it right so that private drivers can pick you up and that is why it uses the gps when you open the app but here is new starting next month by providing company says it might start tracking you, even when the app is off and then keeping the data. They have this vast trove where everything a person has gone. That is something that is subject to a large Security Issues subpoenas, who knows who else could get their hand on that data . The spokesperson says it was only meant to know where you are, faster, and you can turn off the feature on your telephone and apparent backing from the company the spokesperson says they have no plans to track your location all the time but critics worry that they could at pretty much a topic i mean, i didnt feel funny sometimes entering my address and saying that it is how because these people are not background check and these drivers. As thoroughly as you might help so you do not necessarily want them to know where you live. You also have to wonder what other app you have sort of what popped on your telephone also insert include that service. Where it might wind up. The theme of a lot of subjects weve been talking about this morning, transit, it aint pretty but trying to make it more so and paying a pretty penny for tonight is the subject in San Francisco chronicle. That is right. A proposal to raise or to spend between. 25 and up to 2 of all the many uses for rehabilitation a visible areas for art and in other words, if you do a 20 million rehabilitation of a couple of stations you put couple of times 200,000 si for art and also on track ways as well so visitors, patriots, and even a workers can feel more at home, more comfortable, more appreciative of the system than just as being stuck somewhere waiting for the next one to come. They said that no they said that they want to take a closer look at it but they do not they did approve spending to 1000 to hire a director for the our program if and when it actually starts out. In the meantime, asking for more money so i guess that is what were paying for no . Four tracks . For stations, for batters. And for art. Statewide Plastic Bag Ban was supposed to go into effect this wednesday but it is on hold. It is the first of the nations prohibition put on ice earlier this week because instead of going in effect on july 1 it will go before california voters in 2016 and why . Because of the bad trade interest industry got enough signatures for a Ballot Initiative and that effectively throws the prohibitions until the Voters Decide and that has been mentored to cut down on litter and protect rely but critics say will cost manufacturing jobs and allow retailers to cash in by charging for paperbacks. That is one of the concerns is that the money collected from the bags just days with the brochure rather than going to an environmental find work or somlike that. So maybe that needs to be adjusted. It was interesting on the bag manufacturers part because they spend a couple of Million Dollars getting this initiative qualified. So people say, why would you do that when the pulse of the voters are probably going to pass this . Gives them two years to keep selling them and believe me, it is much more profitable than to sell them benches around their way. It also is going to give them plenty of time to advertise to the voters expect to see a lot of commercials that billboards asking voters to save no. There will be no tax breaks for pg e over the san bruno pipeline explosion and that is a state lawmakers get their way, new bill preventing the utility from taking it right off on its 1. 6 billion penalty. Pg e has said in the past and that it is part of the massive fine of taxdeductible by the promised not to appeal the penalty. 2010 explosion killed eight people and injured dozens more. It is going to be a very busy day for this man right here. Warriors president rick welch joining us live in the studio talk to us about the future of a in his grand marshal appearance in todays pride parade. s stick around. Breast easy with a comfortable mattress. Visit sleep world. Com. Smacker Golden State Warriors brought an nba championship back to the bay this year and the fans could not get enough of the sea of blue and gold forming the city of oakland for the championship parade and the warriors of course, they beat lebron james and the Cleveland Cavaliers to win the nba championship. Joining us now is rick welts, the president of the Golden State Warriors. A good morning, two braids in two weeks. That is something that i never anticipated happening in a tenday period. That is Pretty Amazing do you get but i do not get a car but i hope that i get to write back in a car today. This is not been your first invitation i understand to the grand marshal on the pride parade. And you have been an openly gay man for several years, what is it that made you decide to choose this one as opposed to earlier was when you were invited . Well, the early once when i was invited, i did have some scheduling conflicts and i have march the last two years of the break with the warriors and place and we have been in the parade so this is an opportunity with the schedule medic the opportunity and thrilled to be a part of it. I was wondering if it was decision on your part to actually get out in front in a big way, as opposed to sort of quietly. Well, i think that if your story comes out on the front page of the New York Times, you have made the decision to come out in an apparently big way. What was that like when you decided to do that . You are working with the phoenix suns at the time and america was a different place and sports were a different place. An incredibly different place. It was a very big decision. But a very personal decision for me that i felt at the time, i wanted to include that part of my life in my work life, hopefully start a conversation about this a subject in the world of mens professional sports, something that we had a very difficult time doing historically. You have, not only basketball but basketball tends to lead the way a lot of social discourse in terms of sports, baseball, football, not so going . Where do i see what going . The whole conversation. Well, i think that weve seen remarkable progress. People like Robbie Rogers in major league soccer, jason collins, in the nba, and now, listen, we are trailing society on this issue still. But i think that we have we have caught up in many ways and i think that there will come a time where a story like im not only would make the front page of the New York Times but would not even begin newsworthy. That is interesting, and i would say that today possibly i do not know how big of news it would be. I think that is the greatest news in progress. You started out at 16 in professional sports and for all of those years, between what was that like . Well, i was following my passion. I was following something i wanted to dothought that that part of my life did not fit in with what i saw as kind of the way that it worked in professional sports. So that it doesnt my friends, my family, were always a very aware of my situation. I was incredibly supported by them so that is what made a doable but i think that being in the position that i am now, it is a much different and better place. Has anybody ever called you sports player or something unsought advice about yes. And a lot of people in our industry who have not chosen to take that step yet and some people who have, and i never council that does what they should do. It is such a personal decision. I am going to assume that a number of them or most of them have decided against coming out. Why do you think that is . I just think that there are a lot of pressures that they are balancing in terms of their careers, athletes in particular, these are twentysomethings and they do not have a lot of Life Experience. They have a very shore. Time where they are breadwinners in their career. And i think that it is a combination of Life Experience in finding the right time and moment that you want to take the step. Ever is factory people feel that there is a risk. Id they do. And i think that hopefully my story and the story about is that it happened will show people that maybe the risk is more fair fear that it is reality. I am not going to let you go without asking, ive been over to use that everyone of them saying, oakland show you guys the love and oakland turned out the parade is there any talk about staying in oakland . We are three years in the process of trying to move to San Francisco to create a place that will make this franchise successful for the next 40 years and were 100 committed to that. We are bringing our friends and from oakland with us and our fans from san jose and the fans from San Francisco. A letter i did find it interesting that the mayor of oakland was driving around in a snail car in the parade and the mayor of San Francisco is what was in . It might have been a rolls royce. I dont know. Will have to take a look and feel of the parade brings 40 today and what the weather is while you get out there. When we got . Lets take a look at that right now, and a look at what youre looking like in the east bay, partly cloudy to start of sunday. We are seeing the clouds around a lot of the bay area, started the sunday looking pretty similar to yesterday heres what you can expect a ring out the door today, afternoon sunniness and clouds for most of us, most of us the highs will remain mild to become and we will see a warming trend as we go into the start of the work week. Lets take a look at some of the highs for today first to the south bay, we have got some low 80s, morgan hill 81, santa clara, the, 77 mountain view, anyone in the los altos and sliding over to the east bay, 85 in brentwood, 78 san ramon, walnut creek is 77 degrees today, and alejo is 72. Berkeley is getting to 68, 67 in San Francisco, for the pride parade today, 63 and daly city and the north bay 75 degrees and san rafael. So today, some milder temperatures, seeing the warming trend rolling, starting tomorrow, for many, the warmest day this week looking like tuesday and thursday. We could see triple digit heat further inland, 70s around the day, 60s along the coast. Thursday, the clouds and start rolling in and of course, saturday, fourth of july, at former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger my minute interval to appraise the court ruling to lift the ban on same sex marriage across the nation but you may remember that he actually vetoed measures to allow samesex marriage twice when he was governor. And sounds like an about face and he has this to say, i am very happy that they made the right decision on that because we in california were always a step ahead. We made the decision already. A long time ago. If that is not the law of the land are, we set out with political insiders, Carla Marinucci and willie brown to ask, okay, there are pluses and minuses of this for the Democratic Party. Lets take a listen on what he had to say about it. It means that the issue is now behind us. There no longer will be at the identifiable item out there, that generates lots of votes for people who are willing to take that step. Samesex marriage issue has been a money generated for the Democratic Party and a way to define themselves against the republicans and where does it go from your . Proven essential issue for the Lgbt Community and for democrats for a generation. It has generated fundraising, activism, protest and other question is, where do these activist go . You talk to people like mark leno who have been in this fight for a long time, and it is about fayetteville nondiscrimination laws and they can get married, they can get married but they can get fired on monday when the boss does not like that marriage. They can get kicked out of their apartment on tuesday. When the landlord is not like it. I think that you are projecting something that will not occur. I do not believe that america in all of us are going to be so arrogant that just because you happen to be gay or you have to do marry somebody of the same sex, that suddenly, you are going to be unemployable. Or you are going to be no longer a person that that can occupy my driving that youre wrong, carla. I think it is all over. I do not think it will be an issue. I think that the landlords are going to be viewed as landlords of by tenants, not something unusually special. I think that their religious rights and conservatives are not going to go away despite the supreme sort decision within that with indian and religious right laws are going to be something that gay lesbian organizers and democrats will have to deal with and organize against. But it is not universal. As it was when they first set, days should be allowed to two mary. The evolutionary process has now brought us to the point where that commented that you may add to the application of those people is going to be substantially isolated. They are going to go with the day of the tea party and the dodo bird. With all due respect, does not seem like they get rights move it would be over and we have a found the board in and we are still talk about race relations. That is true. But as an organizing tool and as against them, the evolution of this issue has been pretty strong. I mean, we still have louisiana, alabama, mississippi holdouts but indiana, when they tried to pass obama, instantly the whole country began a business are well Corporate America is in on this and when you have Corporate America in your corner, that has a lot more stick sway impulses that you may think. But the fight is not over. A lot to talk about in the next halfhour, including a possible major ruling on the Death Penalty, which is now on hold here in california. In this drought, a lot of people switching their long to turn, but there is a tradeoff and rebate programs now being called into question. Female announcer dont miss sleep trains 4th of july sale save 300 on beautyrest and posturepedic. Plus, pay no interest for 36 months on tempurpedic and icomfort. You might know that he is a member got the ball rolling on samesex marriage in San Francisco back in 2004 but what you might not know is what was going on behind the scenes. Were going to take a little trip back in time and talk about that historic move in with them. The risks and rejections that he and the city faced when they said, at that time, that it is time. Yeah. And then the famous quote, whether you like it or not talk to him about it. Pleasant the Death Penalty that the Supreme Court may be making a ruling on that tomorrow morning for californias lethal injections have been on hold for years but the wheels are in motion to have the Death Penalty restarted in our state. Racing america from South Carolina shootings to immigration reform, the debates are ranging from the dinner table to the statehouse. Political insiders sharing some real talk. That is coming up within the next halfhour and lets get a quick check on whether if youre going out to the pride parade or anything this morning, it will be pretty nice, not a lot of fog around the coast and you can see from a live look at the bay bridge, this morning, some low clouds, though, and low clouds could in the temperatures relatively warmer, already up to 67 degrees in livermore, 60 San Francisco, 55 in san jose right now. 8 01 am mostly cloudy start to the day but we will see plenty of sunshine this afternoon and hotter weather on the way, a closer look at the extended forecast coming up in some minutes but first we have the headlines. Following breaking news out of fremont appellees confirmed a body has been found at the coyote hills regional park. That was found towards the front end of the park before 7 am this morning. The park was closed when the body was discovered and were going to bring you the latest information as it comes in. A rainbow burst of excitement today as colorful floats and dancers march down Market Street in San Francisco for the big pride parade, later on this morning. This year celebration is expected to be bigger than ever. It is estimated about 1 Million People will flood the city to celebrate the Supreme Courts landmark civil rights ruling that legalizes samesex marriage. So the parade starts at 10 30 am this morning at beale street, and it ends with the daylong party at the civic center. If you are going to the festivities, officials recommend taking part or the ferry to avoid all of that traffic. In San Franciscos mission district, and other source of gay pride, a mural that was vandalized with graffiti is now beautifully restored the mural is titled aveda and is located at 24th and brian. The painting shows gay couples and a transgender man. Since the mural was defaced several times since it went up two weeks ago, it was sealed with a protective coating. This will hopefully prevent any further graffiti vandalism. Fire crews north of sacramento keeping a close eye on a dry grassy area that bird yesterday, and prompted voluntary evacuations. High wind pushed the plane the flames toward several homes near the county line and cal fire has boosted staffing, just in case this happens. It is already responding to more than 2700 wildfires this year alone. That is about 1000 more than usual. For this same time period. More than 1000 Law Enforcement officers on the hunt for an escaped prisoner are narrowing in on a heavily wooded area. It is in roughly the same area where police shot and killed his partner on friday. This is about 30 miles from a maximum security prison. Search dogs and helicopters out in full force and the prisoners used power tools to escape back on june 6. Two former prison workers are charged with helping the men. Confederate flag is flying high at the statehouse in columbia South Carolina this morning after it was briefly removed yesterday. Two activists were arrested early on saturday after one of them removed the Confederate Flag. You can see them there and the woman refused to come down until the flag was unhooked. Thats a look at the top stories the sunday morning and back to you guys. We could see more dramatic decisions from the u. S. Decision tomorrow including one on the Death Penalty. The high court is considering which Drug Companies that are based on a case from oklahoma involving a drug used in a botched execution marks your. Attorneys representing three death row inmates in the state say that it is ineffective in preventing painandsuffering from the other drugs that are used in the injection as well. Oklahoma attorney general disagrees. The question before the court was whether the selection of madame flamm is constitutional under the eighth amendment i can assure you that there is no brushing that occurred in the selection of without flat. In california, the Death Penalty has been on hold for years it but it may soon be restarted and the state just agreed to settle a lawsuit brought by crime victims families that requires the state to unveil a new method of lethal injection this year in the likely be a single drug lethal injection and will be subject to future Court Challenges and other challenges that they are having a eventually of the availability of such drugs. That will be something that can also stand in the process. Right. It has gone back to the voters repeatedly in california and they have said yes. So it is going to stay on. Another story going on in california at the state capital right now has to do with a big step going closer requiring kids to be vaccinated. The bill is in the final stages of legislative approval and may have the governors desk very soon. It is one of the nation strictest vaccine bill, the assembly passed the last week. It requires nearly all kids together shots, regardless of their parents personal or religious beliefs. In order to go to or private schools and opponents vowed to challenge it in court. I believe it is morally market to force me as a parent to say to tell me as a parent you do not have the right to do what is right for your child. Next, the bill goes to the state senator approve amendments before going to the governors desk and the governor, has been silent on this issue. But he has signaled that he would be willing to sign an ugly. He said that he is looking at as it works his way through and majority of the californians are going to be behind this. Okay. Now, every time you go to the store, you may not notice it but you are actually looking at the most wanted posters for water users in california. Yeah. They have been a villain eyes and that is dramatic but they have been televised in california it you may have heard it takes a gallon of water to grow one elements of the net industry started taking a hit once the word spread about the almond board of california is providing more conservative irrigation systems, microbes. Lissette low at each individual tree, spraying a shore diameter, not new technology. I would say that the napa valley is light years ahead of the Central Valley and water conservation. Reading that your Vacation Rental business and despite the water savings, he says he does not see a huge demand for the new irrigation system expect people are talking about feeling guilty if they are buying almonds that it is about choices. We were talking about last week it was cows. Right. The tradeoff was eat a steak and do not take a shower for a week you know . Pick and choose where you are using your water. And the strap, a lot of people are switching from one to artificial turf but when one bay area Water Company proposed offering rebates for the switch, some people got a little concerned at the east bay they they brought it up and environmentalists started say that they would like to see more drier drought tolerant guidance and molds rather than fake grass. It saves water, but it does not make oxygen, it does not store carbon and it does not create a habitat for the pollinators. It becomes a ways at the end of his life. They need us to use one of the same time they needed to ration eight so i understand that it is a sticky spot for them but lets face it. Synthetic grass it saves water. Period. 12 water districts in the bay area offer such a rebate by the 53 do not and is based says that it would propose a small Pilot Program to see if theres enough customer interest and the board will discuss the proposal at its next meeting in july. Some good news, major drop in the number of homeless in one part of the bay area and the number of People Living in the street and Santa Clara County is at its lowest level in a decade. According to a recent census that homelessness and the county is down 40 since it two years ago and the credit goes to an improving economy and affordable and subsidized housing but not everybody celebrating. We are walking the streets at night, it is because we are homeless. We are looking for something to eat. We are looking for something to drink. You know . People want will not offer a jazz because they look at us as garbage. Alex heaton, used to live in what was known as the jungle, a sprawling homeless and kamman outside of downtown san joses of the homeless are still there, scattered, less visible, but ultimately more vulnerable and it may be just more difficult to count some of the numbers and it is one of the things that you believe the numbers or do you believe your eyes . Right. A lot of people Walking Around although the numbers might say one thing, on the day today, i think most people would say the problem is not gone away. Friday samesex marriage ruling by the Supreme Court, a case of dij vu for this man, former San Francisco governor, join us live in the student will talk about how far we have come in 11 years as some of the behind the scenes wrangling as he started this m powered by twitter. See your local toyota dealer to touch one of your vehicles. Toyota. Lets go places. Welcome back. We took a poll to see what the bay area thought of the ruling on samesex marriage and 61 agreed with the high court, 32 disagreed. But it is now the law of the land. Joining us now is Lieutenant Governor gather gavin newsom the former mayor of San Francisco, fought hard for legalization is a kick the door open at city hall and quite honestly, it was not all that easy back then. Wasnt . It was not easy and it was not popular and a lot of the critic, both privately and publicly members of my own the Democratic Party. Speaking of one, the scene of the white house this week, a picture of it, the white house is done up in gay colors and all lit up like that, celebrating it but it is interesting to notdown nonetheless. As the president more for the Lgbt Community at more than any president in history but difficult for a lot of folks including the candidate at the time. Barack obama. He was running for u. S. Sun is and the fact was that he did not want people in downstate illinois be identified with you and without. Gap expect and mayor brown, was quite critical at the time, fundraiser and mayor brown and myself for sun is campaign, two events and one of those campaign events, he specifically hurt his folks asked that the cameras be removed from the event. When you came in. I was used to that but i have got to tell you that it was an amazing moment for willy and willie i had gotten used to but will brown particularly found that at that time, it was not just barack obama that one of the leading gay politicians in congress was saying long time, i do not want to talk about all of these things. Why are you getting the sodomy . I want to embrace those that have evolved. We will get to the rhetoric that it does but back then a risky proposition and inside city hall, the people that were standing out there, this past week, extolling this were saying, no, do not do it. How about the citys first openly gay chief of staff, still chief of staff in current mayor was opposed steve was really worried about this but ironically. Then, of course, he came around and was an extraordinary champion a but it was difficult for a lot of folks and remember we were doing all of the debates and this never came up. Not once. People barely even brought up civil unions, going through difficult times. That would be accepted and civil unions were the accepted but not pushing it accepted but not in every camper remember civil unions, remember that howard dean got criticized because events in vermont and they were impacting him say that his career is finished. One of the things that was very significant, i was down at city hall at that time, and it was the entire Image Management and the change in this and i would have to say that i think that you and city hall in that day, did it is more to change the image of days that i have ever prior to that, a lot of americans perception was i know. When you opened up those doors, a lot of the staff were say what happens is that the blue bell and that whole crew found shows up and it turns this into a circuit . Yes. They have been extraordinary things but you are right that it was the folsom street parade and all that stuff that was exploited and not one in 4036 couples over one month from 46 states in six countries and literally you cannot go back and find what it was that the far right or those that were opposed can exploit. Your point is right arm. This brought human beings into people and it was not an abstract and it was not a breach. But you managed that. We were simply you did. And media went along with it up but you said this is a story about couples and you took the image of a lot of america had of days and lgbt from the village people. To basically mom and dad as a brady bunch because that was your aunt enter that was the thing for us it is the most powerful thing, it was about kids and was about grandkids and brothers and sisters and aunts and uncles and parents but it was not i thought it was all going to be about the couples. It was not. It was so much bigger, but families and families coming together that were childish and i had more fathers come up to me with tears in their eyes think that ive struggled all my life with my son coming out and here i am at this moment, and i feel his life is be validated and as a consequence i am no closer than ever to my son and those are powerful i hear that powerful expression all over again. Over the course of many years and that is why this is at the end of the day, you can distill down everything in life, but everything is just noise but at the end of the day, the essence of life is love. You want to love people and you want to be loved and you look back at your life anything about the people that you lost and the people that are still with you and all of the rest is nonsense. So this is fundamental. This is so basic and this is so real and raw and that is why it is such an extraordinary moment. And you are going to have another extraordinary moment in a couple of hours when you are in the parade and thank you for joining us. My pleasure. Lets take a look at the weather. Looks like the weather is going to be pretty good. Lets take a look at our lives shot this morning. Here is the transamerica camera ate bridge at a little bit cloudy to start off the day, around most of the bay you are seeing partly to come mostly cloudy, looking a lot like yesterday. The Church Massacre in charleston has put the issue of race once again at center stage and even the president using some heavily loaded language. To talk about it in our political insiders we indexed. New this morning, authorities are searching for accomplices in the deadly attack at a beach resort into an easier, 38 tourists killed on friday when a man storm the beach and opened fire and the gunmen shot and killed by Security Forces but investigators still on the hunt for one or two more accomplices. Isis has claimed responsibility for the attack. And reverend killed in the Charleston Church massacre is going to be laid to rest in a. Yesterday hundreds of people filled a church as three of the other victims a real were laid to rest and a pamphlet given out to those in attendance, and it said that one of the victims told the shooter that you do not have to do this. We are no harm to you. Charleston Church Massacre has brought race in america to center stage again in our political insiders showed some real talk on the issue. Obamas comment allows the race card to be played, without identification because that is the way that it is in america. It has always been that way in america and it is about time that we start recognizing decisions are made of by many, many people. Strictly on the basis of the color of ones skin. You know, i think that the mister mayor, what youre saying is that this discussion of race has now expanded. It is not just about black and white. It is about healthcare. It is about disparities in education. It is about disparities in how this incident and charleston brought it out and help america and those to one of the things about obamas reference when the president made that reference, i think that you can go back and you are going to find it is going to be equally as easy for republicans to discuss race as it is for democrats. The question if we are talking about race, how do we define a . Is it stick with black white . Because in america, we have hispanics. Okay. Well, a huge asian population. It starts black and white. That is the beginning. That is the bottom line. Went to we go past that . No one else but in california this past couple of years, one of the biggest issues has been admissions to the university of california and a there were concerned that we needed to reapplied a sort of affirmative action in order to get blacks and hispanics into you seek. Who opposed it . Asians because it goes all the way back to the 70s. It they did not just start raising the question about the but they are posted at when they oppose the, a shutdown the discussion and nobody has brought it up since. How do you have an honest discussion about race when whenever you take it out of the confines of black and white, people do not want to talk about it . All of a sudden becomes lets not talk about it. But coming into the Supreme Court decision at obamas comments will give us the opportunity to have that dialogue because you see, defending the rules and regulations from yesterday bars us from being able to pursue equality with all of the tools that we ought to have available so to do. It is fascinating at the whole debate about the Confederate Flag these days. That is. It is all coming back. It is. But it has to move forward as well and we will see what happens technically of the grateful dead concert tonight in santa clara sold out but if you really want to go, resell tickets are still available. The legendary band jamming at the concert last night at levis data, 65,000 grateful dead fans and paid an average of 130 a seat in a visit watched it streaming live on youtube for 20, dedicated grateful dead had a say that you cannot put a price on a walk down memory lane. They remind me of my roots. And the Psychedelic Movement in the 60s perspective this weekend concerts and just miles from the pizzeria where that grateful dead a play its first come to 50s government except for the war in chicago. Some of those that has. [ laughter ] i do not know what to say. It has been that way for you in the last time i saw the grateful dead i think was 1970 something. You did . They had a free concert in Golden Gate Park with the Jefferson Airplane was laughter you are there. I was there i like Everything Else in San Francisco, it was a long while. [ laughter ] and back if you remember. Okay. Worth every bit. Lets it took one last look at the forecast and a lot going on today that pride parade and services go, big deal at 1030 am in highs today 83 livermore, vallejo will get to 72, san rafael, 75 degrees and for San Francisco, 67. So a little cool today, we will see a warming trend, starting tomorrow and that is really going to max out tuesday and wednesday when we could see triple digit temperatures further inland, 70s around the bay, cooler along the coast, and then, it looks like thursday, the clouds are going to start to roll it out already, saturday, fourth of july holiday and it is looking dry for now. Certainly looks like good weather for the pride parade we have been kicking off two hours from now in San Francisco. If youre going out there, enjoy. Face the nation is coming up here next on kpix 5.
