Carquinez bridge along the eastshore freeway to the maze about 20 minutes. Van ness onramp to southbound 101 is flooded in San Francisco. We have crews out there trying to clear the area for you. Westbound 780 connector ramp to westbound 80 flooded in vallejo. Ill send it to you. All right, roqui. Thank you. Crews are keeping a close eye on the burn zone by loma prieta mountain with heavy rains expected in the area. They are worried conditions could be just right for flooding. The loma fire burned 4400 acres and much of the vegetation is gone. But a cal Fire Task Force is monitoring the weather and the team has already set up a station. Homeowners are glad for the help. Its great for the public service. Despite the flooding risks, some locals said they are glad to see some rain, given our states drought. And in santa cruz, this lagoon is sparking some flooding concerns. The crews are taking preventative steps by plowing a channel at cal beach. That way they can be sure that nearly a million gallons of water can flow to the ocean instead of damaging nearby properties. And in southern california, some trick or treaters have been scrambling to pick out their favorite pumpkins before a storm makes them soggy. With clouds this heavy, many people in ventura sense they have little time. So they rushed to a pumpkin patch, the family that owns it is trying to keep the pumpkins dry but it knows some will have to be discarded. They are getting some help from a few trick or treaters. It was, um, relatively close to the grand central. There would have been hundreds of feet away if i had to guess. We have an emergency in the airport. We are getting help for you. Looked up and i saw this trumppence plane making a noise screeching and it came to a stop right here. A new website is causing some controversy for voters. It lets people trade their votes from state to state. Users can sign up online and pledge to vote for each others candidates in their respective states. Experts say users are likely targeting third Party Supporters who dont want to jeopardize the main party election. If youre in ohio and you dont like trump and you also dont like clinton, we have people that want to talk to you that feel the same way. The fact is if its a oneon one transaction, involving just two people with each other, um, that in and of itself is an expression of speech, not an illegal act. Officials say it is legal as long as no money is involved. Lawmakers are still discussing a possible deal to move the raiders to las vegas. We are learning about the potential jobs it could bring to sin city. The city outlined an agreement with state senators to require at least 50 of the new hires to be local. The agreement focuses on hiring minorities, exconvicts, the lgbt community, and those with disabilities. Each of those will be given significant opportunity at every phase of the stadium. Give them the opportunity . Thats all i axe. The agreement comes at the same time as billionaire Sheldon Adelson was reportedly going to walk away from the deal. But one of his employees says that the reports are not true. Developing this morning, a string of suspicious fires in San Francisco has police on high alert. Since last month, there have been five arsons in chinatown. This atm was scorched last week. A blue recycling bin, a shopping cart and piles of trash have all been lit on fire on separate occasions. Police say they happen at night when no one is around. Extra officers are now going to be patrolling areas where the fires have happened. A recent crime spree across the neighborhood in the east bay has families on edge. So far there havent been any arrests. As kpix 5s Christin Ayers reports, a big clue could help crack the case reporter Surveillance Video shows the suspects pull up in a honda civic in san leandro. Two young men climb out of the car walk up the drive and open a gate on the side of the house. Ultimately they broke into the house and stole a couple of small items before they got into their getaway vehicle and left the area. Reporter San Leandro Police say this was just the beginning of a 12hour burglary spree last friday. At nightfall, burglars struck again. This time, the 911 call came from a woman here in the upscale beo vista neighborhood. She had been at home asleep, lights out in the house and she was awakened to the sound of smashing glass. Reporter while police were investigating that crime here on benedict drive, another burglary was called in and then another. Windows smashed at both houses. Before the weekend was over, a neighbor would report a fifth burglary. It is really unheard of to have so many burglaries in a confined small residential area in that short time frame. Reporter police say its unclear whether the same suspects were behind all five burglaries. There may be two groups of thieves throughout targeting this area. They say the key to tracking them down may be identifying the getaway car. The red fourdoor honda is blemished on the roof with oxidized paint. Police are dispatching extra patrols to the neighborhood that was targeted and hoping someone will be able to identify the car or the suspects. If we get them into custody or we get that car identified, thats really going to produce some critical leads in the case thats going to stop other burglaries from happening. Authorities are trying to find room in jails for everyone taken into custody. The demonstrations have lasted for months. Yesterday turned chaotic and lawmakers tried to break up a protestor encampment. People against the construction project say it threatens the environment and would destroy native american sites. Local police say they dont want anyone hurt in demonstrations. For the most part, this has been a very smooth operation as far as going down there and removing the individuals. We just to make sure that we do it slow and in very methodical fashion for everybodys safety. Officials are now looking into structural damage on the bridge where protestors burned debris. Back in the bay area, all of the rain that we are getting could mean some good news for the drought. So far, there have been slight improvements in the Drought Monitor but Officials Say there could be more after this weekends storm. This is already the wettest october in 16 years and the 14th wettest on record. To get one this early is pretty encouraging. This is something more typically we might see in like january, february. Around the peninsula, we anticipate delays at sfo on some arriving flights because the rain has been consistent for the past seven hours. We have a moderate cell offshore of the sunset district. In the south bay you have a little bit of a void in the activity around palo alto and the rose garden district. San jose you have some light rain showers now. All this subtropical moisture is lifting from the south to the north. Ejecting to the east. You can see how were just filling in nicely with the rain. Typically for the entire month of october, in the santa rosa area, we do see just over an inch and threequarters of rain and by monday well easily see over 2 approaching 3 inches. Its raining at the Golden Gate Bridge as you make tracks out of the north bay into the city of San Francisco. Temperatures are extremely balmy in the high 50s and low 60s and again the winds did not materialize. They have been under 10 to 15 Miles Per Hour at tops. Napa right now with a 6mile perhour wind. It has been tapping into a flow of a hurricane in the eastern pacific so more rain during the morning commute. And then saturday even though we have a hitandmiss scattered shower, the front associated with a cold front does move through the bay area in the overnight hours on saturday through your sunday morning. As this colder air over takes the warmer air mass already in place, remember its in the 50s and 60s at this early hour, we have a lot of unstable air mass so we have a chance of a thunderstorm on sunday. Heres your rainfall amounts. Up to about 8 00 on sunday evening, nearly 2 inches of rain will fall in the hayward area so the ground is becoming saturated. Northbound will take you about 16 to 20 minutes right now and moving over to the san mateo bridge, if you are heading into the peninsula, 880 to 101 just a 15minute drive but again, drive slowly and carefully. And then you get slower as you hit north flynn road in livermore and frees up a bit. Dublin interchange slow in the commute direction. Altamont pass to 680 takes 15 minutes. A modesto woman has just been awarded 70 million in her lawsuit against johnson johnson. She claims the companys baby powder caused her ovarian cancer.
