A lot of people who live in the east bay took to social media asking about a loud boom around 7 p. M. It was related to maintenance at the phillips refinery in rodeo. They said this ehrlick questioned is in the process of starting up its hydrogen plant. Part of the process, some flaring occurred as well as noise heard by the surrounding community. The federal judge looks at that time as whats in the best interests of safety and so they are looking at a circumstance of saying, hey, look, apple, you need to help the fbi out. Reporter the fbi is asking apple to write special code just for the specific iphone in question, disabling the security feature which would then allow investigators to launch whats called a brute force attack. The fbi would use computers to try every possible password combination until the unlocked code is found without the risk of data loss. Apples ceo tim cook addressed the issue on encryption on 60 minutes. There have been people that suggest we should have a back door. Two years ago, he was charged with felony hitandrun after he slammed into an ac transit bus sending it plowing into a richmond home injuring a mother, baby and 3yearold inside. Police lined up in richmond on tuesday to pay their respects to a fallen officer. 6 uniformed pallbearers carried the flagdraped casket of gus vegas into a chapel. He was 58 and a veteran officer. Christin ayers has more on some strong words from the mayor reporter clergy lined up in front of oakland to rail against the plan to export 3 million tons of coal a year from utah to west oakland. We must leave coal in the ground. We all know that coal is destructive. Let us not have no coal in oakland. Lets not send it to china. Reporter they sent this letter to oakland mayor libby schaaf opposing the transport of coal into oakland. Mayor schaaf responded with a blunt statement. I remain strongly opposed to the transports of coal and crude oil through our city and request that the city council postpone contracting with esa. The city council did just that delayed a vote on whether to hire the Environmental Science associates to conduct a 250,000 Health Report on the impacts of coal here. As the delays continue, we have learned there are already some uncovered coal trains running right here through jack london square. It turns out this line is a backup for trains that typically run through richmond. Jerry bridges the ceo of Terminal Logistics Solutions the man behind the export terminal says unlike the coal trains already running through the east bay, the coal he plans to ship through oakland will be covered in railcars like these and stored in domes to cut pollution.
