With a 5545 vote it failed. David chiu was against the measure and believes the current short term rental law is enough. We need time to allow this to go into effect. The citys Transportation Agency approved an 18month Pilot Program to allow only mass transit taxi and commercial vehicles on powell near union square. The goal is to make the area safer for pedestrians. Former 49er and current raider aldon smith will be in court today. He was cut from the 9ers after he was arrested back in august for hitandrun drunken driving and vandalism charges. Itsed fifth time he was busted since entering the nfl.
