A south bay restaurant at the center of a nasty stomach bug outbreak remains closed today. Hilt Officials Say dozens of diners health Officials Say dozens of diners have showing symptoms of shigella. Kiet do reports from san jose. Reporter this bacteria is very infectious and the victim count has gone up every day. At last report they had 80 people get sick. Some people got so sick they had to go to the icu. Inspectors believe that the outbreak happened here at mariscos san juan number 3 on 4th street in downtown san jose sometime friday or saturday night. When people started getting sick in droves, the county conducted a thorough inspection and by sunday the restaurant was shut down. Inspectors think it started with an employee, then passed to the food and then to the customers. Someone sick with shigella and diarrhea can spread the infection if after using the restroom dont wash their hands properly and then prepare foods or beverage. Reporter the restaurant got high marks with an 89 in august and 93 in january for inspections. There are two other restaurants with the same name in san jose but nothing wrong or suspicious happened with those. Because shigella is so infectious, another 100 people could get sick before this outbreak is done. Kiet do, kpix 5. A drunk passenger is blamed for diverting a flight from san jose to dallas. This video shows him getting out of his seat every five minutes making threatening gestures to flight attendants. Pilots then diverted the plane to phoenix to have him removed. I was nervous. There is a 5,000 reward leading to their arrest. Some people in the tri valley might be feeling a bit of quake fatigue and its not over yet. Just feet from the red car you see on your screen is where the man had just been buried alive in his minivan but at that time, emergency crews could not locate him. These guys are, you know, searching for a body just moments ago. Reporter the homeowner who lives above the catch basin insisted someone was missing. She said, an suv had turned over and gone upsides down behind their house and was complaining for days, thursday. And the rescue workers told her, the person had been saved. Reporter firefighters continued their search throughout the weekend but found nothing until a separate city crew came out to clear the mud with a backhoe and found the van. Authorities have not identified the victim inside the minivan just saying he is a man in his 40s. They are still identifying and notifying his family members.
