An elderly driver is not being charged after her suv slammed into a livermore gym killing a person inside. The woman inside was killed when the mercedes crashed through the front of the gym. Five others in the exercise class at lifestyle fitness were hurt along with the driver. Police say the 80yearold driver mistook the gas for the brake. The car was parking directly in front of the gym and it just went through the glass doors and then all the way through the gym and ended up crashing into a wall. No charges have been filed against the driver. The woman killed is 49yearold kathy baker. She was the cfo at the Lawrence Livermore lab. The labs director says kathy was a very special person and a valued member of the laboratory. She was always proud of the accomplishments of her team. And somehow, she heard or saw the suspect. She yelled at him to get out and he ran away of police say he had something over his face at the time. The good news is that she was not hurt. Police did search the neighborhood and all of sausalito using k9s for more than two hours and the dogs eventually lost the suspects scent and the search was called o the suspect did not get away with anything. Northbound 101 moving well passing that accident at marsh. Now, westbound 205 right at the i5 interchange, there is an accident in the clearing stages. That also has a lane shut down and traffic is going to be slow from that point approaching the Altamont Pass. So again expect backups now for 205 westbound. Its going to stay heavy down the Altamont Pass where the chp has issued a wind advisory for that stretch of roadway so 580 expect to feel the windy conditions near the windmills. So very good there. Chaotic moments caught on tape during a deadly shootout between a suspect and sheriffs deputies in san leandro. One of the bullets hit a victim in the stomach. Hours later the same suspect attempted to carjack somebody but failed. Chp found him walking on interstate 238 and thats when the shootout started. Alameda county sheriffs say the suspect fired several shots at the deputies before he was shot and killed. No Law Enforcement was injured. The person shot in the drive by is in stable condition. A lawsuit centering around an autistic boy is going to mediation. The plaintiffs in the sunnyvale case argue the boy should be declared a public nuisance for his violent behavior. In a san jose courtroom yesterday, a judge urged both sides to try and work out their differences in mediation. The parents have been at the negotiating table before but failed to come up with a solution. Our primary focus and the only reason well that we had to file this lawsuit was the safety of our children from the ongoing violence. I feel sympathy for all the families involved in this case.
