A warning, some viewers may find the video from a witness disturbing. The patrolman Michael Slager fired eight shots at walter scott on saturday morning. Officer slager is white. Scott is black. Slager complained scott tried to grab his stun gun after a traffic stop. After the absolutelying slager appears to drop the gun next to the body. If you make a bad decision, dont care if you are behind the shield or just a citizen on the street, you have to live by that decision. If convicted, slager could face life in prison. Civil rights leaders are calling for calm while activists plan protests in South Carolina today. The town of North Charleston is about 50 black while the police force is about 80 white. An inmate to escaped finally turned up thousands of miles away. 40yearold johnle carter is a suspected child molester. In march he overpowered a deputy during an appointment at the Santa Clara Medical center in san jose leading to a two day search for Johnell Carter involving dozens of deputies, san jose cops and the chp but there was no sign of him until yesterday. He was arrested in mississippi with the help of u. S. Marshals. Its not clear yet how he was able to travel that far away but carters brother is charged with helping him avoid authorities. Iraq Water District will discuss the desalinization project. The hardesthit areas include francisco and grant streets, dwight way and ellsworth and woolsey and lewiston avenue. Homes have been hit so many times notices are on polls. Burglaries are up 220 from last year. In many cases, the victims could have taken steps to prevent them. A lot of times people maybe are leaving valuables that they can clearly see from the street. Berkeley police are sending out extra patrols. Officers have made some arrests and in some cases stolen items have been returned. 4 37. A judge has ruled a sexually violent predator should not be able to live in solano county. Frazier smith was sentenced to four years in prison in 1995 for assault with intent to commit rape. He later violated parole three times. Smith was declared qualified for release from the state Mental Hospital in november of 2013. But he is still in the hospital because no appropriate home has been found. The proposed locations have either been too close to schools or too expensive. So yesterday the judge ordered smith to be placed in an adjacent county. A hearing on the progress of the search is set for june.
