Reporter school Officials Say it was a class of special Needs Children from nearby Hillsdale High School who are out in the community on a walking field trip. They were crossing the street with their student teacher at the t intersection behind me. A witness told me the teacher had her back to the oncoming car and they were hit. The black car stopped, windshield cracked and broken. A witness trimming a tree nearby says the car veered off the road and on the sidewalk without slowing or skidding. It struck the teacher and three students and knocked down a stop sign. I guess this guy was talking on the phone or looking for something that he didnt see. He lost control. The car just came straight. I was here. I was about to scream, like, be care conflict, but i was too late. Reporter police say the 20 yearold student teacher and the students were seriously hurt and rushed to the hospital. The 51yearold driver was also hospitalized. In san mateo, len ramirez, kpix 5. That injured teacher and all the students are said to be doing fine this morning. All are expected to recover. San franciscobased Rideshare Company is hit with a suit in federal court. Uber is accused of mistreating blind passengers. The National Federation of the blind claims the Ridesharing Service refused to pick up dozens of blind customers with service dogs. Uber issued a statement saying its policy is to quit using drivers who refuse to Carry Service animals. A landmark new state law giving almost all workers in the state paid sick leave. The governor just signed it into law. That new law will require employers to give all full and parttime workers at least three paid sick days a year. It takes effect next july. It will affect more than 6. 5 million workers. This is the least we can do. We have to fight against the growing inequality, the miseration of millions of families in our country and in our state. The sick time will be calculated based on the number of hours worked. Workers will be able to use the time off to care for sick family members, as well. Connecticut is the only other state with a similar law but San Francisco has had one since 2006. A stunner in the oakland mayors race. Kpix 5s Christin Ayers has the results of the first new poll in months. Reporter even rebecca kaplans Campaign Manager surprised to see the lopsided numbers. Kaplan came in first with 61 of votes. Jean quan a distant second with 39 of the vote. 7 out of 10 voters said quan should be replaced. Less than two months out it looks like a blowout. But its really a deceptive blowout. Reporter Gregory Mcconnell is president of the nonprofit jobs and Housing Coalition which does not endorse a candidate. He broke the numbers down for us. They showed that kaplan beat quan by Single Digits in all but the final rounds of rank Choice Voting but as the field narrowed, voters rallied behind her, not quantity. She had the most number of number one votes. But also of number two and three, as well. And so you see a strong lead both among the first place votes but also in final rank choice tally. The league initially suspended the Baltimore Ravens star for two games after allegations he punched his fiancee at a new jersey casino back in february. But this week the League Suspended him indefinitely after the website tmz posted an elevator Surveillance Video actually showing the punch. Nfl commissioner Roger Goodell said the league had earlier requested that video but no one from the league saw it until this week. As the company that got the videotape can tell you it was gettable and he didnt get it. A Law Enforcement official told the Associated Press he sent the video to an nfl executive five months ago. Meanwhile, the 49ers have suspended their playbyplay announcer ted robinson for two games because of comments he made about rices wife. I think i fractured it in four places, two on the left and two on the right. I went through a 10hour surgery. The original estimate was five months before i could put any weight on my legs.
