A candidate for mayor of oakland has picked a rather odd location for his campaign headquarters, one of the Ugliest Buildings in the city. Bryan parker former healthcare and tech executive is a political newcomer yet one of the top fundraisers in the race now. His headquarters is a long abandoned Bank Building in the citys tam tam school building. If we can use this as a case study bee can clean up Something Like this, keep it clean, that would add into the overall safety of the neighborhood. Parker also touts Youth Programs as a way to clean up oakland. Happening today, San Francisco teachers vote on a possible strike just days before heading back to school. It has to do with money. The Teachers Union is asking for a 21 raise over three years. The district is offering 8. 5 . Tonights vote wont authorize a strike but allow the teachers to schedule a strike vote. 7. 5 billion water bond measure will be on the upcoming November Ballot in california. The state senate and assembly passed it yesterday. Governor jerry brown signed it last night. The ballot measure is a scaled down version of a previous water bond plan. If you are traveling in oakland anywhere near 880, sounds like between jackson and embarcadero, they have three right lanes blocked off. Caltrans confirmed that overnight roadwork at the downtown exits is going to be there until 5 a. M. The usual overnight roadwork continues for 25 minutes on westbound 580 between central and western with two right lanes closed. Delays building in a couple of cash lanes now, you can see the outer right and outer left beginning to fill in a little bit at the bay bridge toll plaza. Mineta san jose airport has had two stowaways slip through in four months. Last week the airport called hartmans breach no big deal. Well, that caught the attention of some San Jose City leaders. Reporter the airports aviation director backtracked today saying the previous statement was misunderstood and that the breach is a big concern. In fact, she says they have tightened airport security. Now the citys Public Safety committee will launch an investigation into the two stowaway cases. A brutal beating in San Francisco is now a murder investigation. The family of Bryan Higgins took him off life support yesterday. His friends said their good byes at a vigil in duboce park. Higgins worked at a deli and had the nickname feather. Friends cant imagine why someone would attack him. You didnt even have to come to him and say, hey, feather, im having a bad day. He knew and would just embrace you. Higgins was found unconscious sunday morning near duboce and church streets in San Francisco. Police found some Surveillance Video of the assault but so far they have not identified a suspect or determined a motive. Developing news now from suburban st. Louis. Michelle sa gonna reports after another night of violence after a white Police Officer killed a black teen. Reporter police in ferguson, missouri, lobbed tear gas at protestors for a fourth night after a crowd became unruly. Dozens of people were out again to protest the shooting death of 18yearold Michael Brown. We just say hands up, dont shoot reporter earlier in the day the police chief asked protestors to confine their demonstrations to daylight hours. They responded with peaceful marches. But tensions are still running high. On wednesday, police took two journalists into custody at a ferguson mcdonalds. Washington post reporter wesley lowry videotaped the incident as it happened. Officers in s. W. A. T. Gear told him and Huffington Post reporter brian riley to leave. Evidently, uhm, i wasnt moving quickly enough. And both of us were arrested. Reporter both were released, no charges were filed. People in ferguson are still demanding to know the identity of the officer who killed brown on saturday. Witnesses say the unarmed teens hands were up when he was shot. Officials so far are not releasing the officers name. Yesterday marin county sheriffs officials defended the decision to release details of his death. They say its required by law.
