Cloudy and cool at the coast and sunshine away from the bay. And in fact, sacramento 87 degrees. Mid 90s in fresno. Through merced into modesto. 88 degrees in redding and 80s coming across the yucaipa area. Now by too time the sun sets tonight at 8 29. We will have realized 60s at the beaches and 60s and 70s across the central bay with the wind pretty breezy out of the southwest 10 to 20. Mid 70s and mountain view. Slightly below average in san jose. But warmer towards gilroy and morgan hill. The extended forecast the warmest days of this workweek will be on thursday and on friday. And that is your monday weather. All right, thanks roberta. 6 49 now. This is a big week for politicians visiting the bay area. With some rather highprofile guests trying to raise some money and their president ial profiles. Political analyst Melissa Griffin cane joins us now with more. Good morning. Reporter good morning frank and michelle. We have this week invasion of the money snatchers. Here in the bay area. And weve got Hillary Clinton whos going to be visiting facebook headquarters in menlo park. And also president obama will be in los altos on friday for a Democratic Party fundraiser. Now democrats raising money if the bay area is nothing new. But the reception that rand paul got on saturday rand paul an independent libertarian republican, might actually surprise you. It was an event called the reboot conference and put on by the lincoln labs group a tech focused libertarian leaning group whose slogan is where liberty and technology meet. Now at the conference, rand paul focused on making the case for smaller government. Which reportedly resonated really well with the crowd. He questioned why Silicon Valley overwhelmly still votes for democrats. He says obama is for the protectionism crowd and so you know he also called washington lawmakers idiots and trolls. I thought that was important. That little tidbit in. Silicon valley and libertarians nothing new right . Thats true. Right and the last tech bubble that we saw there was a rise in selfdescribed libertarians in the valley. They never quite became a political force. To put it bluntly if you dont like government, voting is probably not your favorite thing either. So it never really amounted to much as Political Forces go. However this new wave of people is seeing how government is trying to regulate uber, lyft, airbnb and other Popular Services and they agree with rand paul that they should have the freedom to do their own thing. Without government interference. They say let the market sort it out. What do you think . More registered republicans in Silicon Valley . You know not just yet. Yet. See, theres its one thing to like rand paul. Its another thing to like the Republican Party. For one thing, for example, while there were some republicans at the reboot event, the Republican Party generally does not have a lot of love for rand paul. And for another thing, ive talked to a number of politicians in Silicon Valley who tell me the Republican Party is still seen as antiscience and antiimmigrant and all wrong on social issues. The appeal of rand paul is that hes a different kind of republican. A conservetarian is what some call it. Hes more concerned with free markets than with same sex marriage for example. Until the party becomes more conservetarian its doubtful the idiots and trolls in washington have anything to fear from the folks yet. Boy the elections couple of years away. Thats true. And rand paul is of course here and hes going to be running for president so hes raising his president ial profile. Very interesting. All right very interesting. Melissa thank you. Thank you.
