Debit card numbers of its shoppers may have been stolen. Thieves breached the data over black friday weekend and the problem wasnt solved until this week. Bank information was swiped from 40,000 credit card readers that registers across the country. The thieves grabbed information from the magnetic strips on the cards and that information could be used to make counterfeit cards or if its a debit card, thieves may have your p. I. N. Numbers so they can use a counterfeit card and an atm. This is one every those situations where in the past its been done by hacking into a stores wifi and then using that to get into the corporate database. Again, we dont know yet how this happen. In a statement sent out about an hour ago, target said it alerted authorities and Financial Institutions as soon as the breach was known and that the problem has now been fixed. Five people were tied up and beaten in their own home in vacaville. The neighborhood was locked down after the shooting began in the home on poplar street on the Southeast Side of the city. Four men wearing black masks and black gloves stormed the house at about 6 00 last night. They all carried semiautomatic handguns. One of them shot one of the men in the house and pistolwhipped another. Solano county deputies say they demanded some specific items and then they took off possibly in a silver toyota camry. Flames shot 100 feet into the air from a massive fire in a strip mall near los angeles. Two roofs collapsed from the fire in hawthorne that burned for three hours. The fire started in a liquor store at about 8 45 last night. It spread through a common attic to several or businesses. The wildfire burning in big sur is nearly threequarters contained this morning. More than 800 acres have burned in the Los Padres National forest. So far, its destroyed 22 buildings, 13 of them houses. It is now 74 contained thanks to a break in the weather. Two firefighters have been hurt. That 13yearold oakland girl declared braindead after a tonsillectomy is still on life support this morning. Friends and family held a vigil for jahi mcmath last night. She has been breathing with the help of a ventilator at oakland Childrens Hospital since the surgery last week. Her family wants her on life support but experts say its time to let her go. We dont treat the dead even when a mom says please, give me a chance, i want my daughter to somehow come back. Death is that end point for treatment. The new eastern span of the bay bridge looks the same this morning but looks can be deceiving as andria borba reports. Those bad bolts are now fixed. Reporter shims are out and saddles are in. The new eastern span of the bay bridge has what caltrans is calling a permanent fix. This was a unique complex problem that demanded a unique complex solution. Reporter the opening of 6. 7 billion span was thrown into a tailspin of state hearings and earthquake concerns this spring when 32 of 96 galvanized steel rods showed hide general damage, brittle to the point of snapping. Shims hastily installed became the quick temporary fix to get drivers on the new bridge by labor day weekend. All of those shims gone. Replaced by the beefier saddles. What the saddle fix does is it holds down the base of these seismic devices and a combination of steel saddles and steel tendons provide the exact same clamping for us that those bolts were supposed to provide. Reporter these are the saddles. They bring the bridge permanently up to code. The price tag, well, san joses new Mega Millions winner could certainly afford it, 25 million, more than double the initial 10 million estimate. Insurance wont pay for his dog anymore, but then vinita nair says the story went viral. Reporter orlando helps his blind owner 61yearold Cecil Williams get around on a daily basis. He is always watching out for me. He is always looking for me. Thats his job. Reporter on tuesday, orlando went above and beyond the call of duty when williams lost consciousness on the platform of a new york city subway station. We really tried to keep him from pulling him from falling on the tracks and stayed with him. Reporter they both fell on the tracks. The engineer stopped the train but several cars passed over them. Amazingly, williams suffered only minor injuries. The first time you actually were reunited with the dog, what was that like for you . You know, when he came back to me, i was i was glad to see him. And im glad that he wasnt even hurt. Reporter orlando turns 11 next month and will retire as a seeing eye dog. Williams is getting a new service dog and couldnt afford to keep orlando as a pet until now. As of this morning, all of those expenses have been covered through anonymous donations. He says the guy showed him his gun, demanded money, then handcuffed him and made him lie on the floor. The robber took off with the money from the register. The store owner happily was not hurt. Also in Vallejo Police say that a robber used the drivethrough window to get into a mcdonalds at 3 a. M. Yesterday. Once inside, he forced the employees to take off their clothes and and get into the freezer. He stole the money. The freezer was unlocked. No arrests in either robbery. Wonder girl spreads the message of safety in vallejo. The superhero is a 10yearold girl. As john ramos reports, her superheros come from battling an evil of a whole other kind. We are very excited to hear what she has to say.
