Your bridges, heres a live look at the san mateo bridge flowing nicely this morning between hayward and foster city if you are heading towards the peninsula, sfo no delays on 101 or 280. The volume is down from a typical wednesday so delays not building in the outer cash lanes. It may be a while before they turn on the metering lights. Well let you know. Mass transit bart longer trains for Holiday Travelers today. That is your latest kcbs traffic. Heres lawrence. Maybe it will be busy in the evening hours. Maybe you should come back then. Thanks, lawrence. Im going out of town [ laughter ] around the bay area today, some partly cloudy skies if you are heading out. Got some good news though on the holiday. We have been worried about the possibility of rain. I dont think thats going to happen now. Looks like that cutoff low will stay off the coastline. Temperatures generally in the 40s and 50s although 36 in santa rosa. As we head toward the afternoon we should see some partly cloudy skies and hazy sunshine. Temperatures will be comfortable though mainly into the 60s s now, its a whole different story along the eastern seaboard. We have been talking about the storm system the last couple of days and what a storm its going to be, bad timing with the system racing all the way up the eastern seaboard. You have a lot of rain ahead of this system and a whole lot of snow on the back side, almost a foot of snow into buffalo so you get the idea this is going to be a wicked storm system, especially if you are traveling and, yeah, looks like its going to be a mess out there. Partly cloudy. East coast delays, you can count on that. Its going to take some time to get out there. Boston looking athe some rain there, partly cloudy in chicago and houston and rain already seeing some delays at jean quan and laguardia. For more on that, lets go to the airport with cate caugiran. Reporter thank you, lawrence. The lines have already stacked up here at sfo, no major delays to report just yet. But we know that that east coast storm will change travelers plans. So far, flights from terminal 2 at sfo are on time. But later on, the airport is anticipating more people and more flights coming in and going out of sfo, more than 63,000 travelers, in fact, will be passing through these terminals. And that means longer lines checking in and security and boarding your flight. As lawrence mentioned that storm on the east coast is expected to complicate thousands of travelers thanksgiving plans. But a couple we spoke to this morning say they planned for that. You go early and you go with the flow if its delayed. And we have our kindles so we have them to read and your cell phones to play on. So well have a good time. Reporter airports in new york, new jersey, philadelphia and boston as lawrence mentioned are already seeing some of those major delays and the problem for bay area travelers is those east coast delays will eventually trickling down here. Now, the most common tip were hearing from airport officials, if you can, come an hour and a half to two hours early before your flight. Not only that if you are traveling to the east coast, its a really good idea to call your airline ahead of time. Reporting live at sfo, cate caugiran, kpix 5. Here at denvers International Airport, were already seeing long lines form not only at security but at checkin counters as well and its expected to get even busier throughout the day. Three times the daily average number of passengers are expected at dia today alone, with more than a million expected over the holiday weekend. Now, not only is there traffic in the security and checkin lines, but also outside of the airport for passengers at both the dropoff and pickup lanes outside of the airport. So that could be a problem for passengers traveling through dia. But as of right now, all flights are taking off on time despite some concerning weather conditions. In denver, kelly werthmann, cbs news. Im Mike Puccinelli at Ohare International airport, where today they expect more than 200,000 people to fly in or out of ohare and midway airports.
