Look at the old bay bridge now. Yeah. The lights are out there right now. That is right. That is so yesterday that bridge is old compared to the new one. Temperatures around the bay area 50s and some 60s right now. The fog a little thick along skyline boulevard is this morning. You see it now into the bay as well so some patchy fog to begin the day but by the afternoon a whole lot of sunshine, temperatures in the 80s inland, 70s inside the bay and 60s out toward the coastline. More on that heatup in a few minutes. Right now lets check the roads with elizabeth. And the roads look pretty good. No big issues out there right now. So we like what we see. There are some of those usual lane closures up and down the nimitz freeway. This is in oakland, northbound and southbound today actually from 23rd to broadway. Southbound from fifth to high street three left lanes are blocked. All of this is scheduled to wrap up in the next 20 minutes by about 5 00 so as you can see it is causing a few delays to the drive time up and down the oakland area as you head towards hayward, as well. The chickens have lived in cages like these all their lives skin rubbed raw, their beaks cut off. They typically lay 300 eggs a year but when it drops to 250 they are no longer Cost Effective to raise. They are killing them. They gas them to death. They literally bring out a big garbage bin the kind you put out for Curbside Pickup and they stuff 50 to 60 in each bag and gas them. Some suffocate, some survive the gassing and then workers manually break their necks. Reporter they could only rescue 1800 chickens for adoption in the bay area but then an anonymous donor chartered the cargo flight to a sanctuary in upstate new york for another 1150 chickens. The cost of the flight is about 50,000. With 1150 chickens that comes out to about 43 a bird. We have someone who said, i love chickens and i want to help. So why would we say no to that . Reporter every year, millions of older egg laying hens are put to death and dumped in a landfills. Saving a few thousand is bitter sweep. M. , we are still seeing a lot of lanes blocked because of all the overnight roadwork that hasnt wrapped up yet, westbound 80 lanes blocked from hercules into albany. Once you get into richmond traffic flows nicely. This is a live look approaching carlson and even with the overnight roadwork we are still seeing the speeds moving okay about 18 or 19 minutes on westbound 80 from the carquinez bridge to the maze. More roadwork this morning. This is on north and southbound 880. It looks like from 23rd to broadway youll find three of the left lanes blocked once again until about 5 00 this morning. So you can see maybe a touch of slowing as you approach high street just north of the oakland coliseum. Southbound looks good if you are heading towards oakland airport, quick check of the bay bridge toll plaza, no delays. We have seen those delays though move into later on in the morning commute. So right now is the time to go. No problems across the span into San Francisco. Thats traffic. Back to you guys. Thank you. If you look here you can actually see numbers etched into it by the nazis. They had plans to catalog the torana museum of vanquished people. But the torah was destined for another place. The scroll was somehow salvaged and taken to england. In the 1980s it came to camp tawonga a jewish camp just outside yosemite. Little did the staff there know that the torah would have another close call three decades later. This time with the flames of the rim fire. It burned like right up the canyon, the valley that the camp sits in and the surrounding fire. Reporter the rim fire took out three buildings at the campsite forcing everyone to evacuate but not before the workers retrieved the torah. Its incredibly meaningful and, you know, the fact that it could have burned up and we could have lost it in the fire would have been very traumatizing for all of us in the camp community. So were very glad we were able to get it out. Reporter its presence at this rosh hashana ceremony in berkeleys tilden park a quiet testament to faith and survival.
