This one came down on lucas valley road near skywalker ranch in marin county yesterday. Some power lines went down in the north bay and the utility pole snapped in two. Firefighters in San Francisco are spreading the Holiday Cheer as well this morning. They drove through the tenderloin giving out toys and bikes to children. The Christmas Special delivery started at fire station 1 on folsom street. And thousands of children in San Francisco had a very special christmas thanks to lefty odouls. The restaurant helped collect more than 10,000 toys during their toy drive on christmas eve. They started at 5 00 yesterday morning and they reached their goal by 9 30 last night. 6,000 toys were distributed yesterday and another 3,000 were handed out this morning. Believe it or not, some people were still looking for presents before the sun came up this morning. We were there. We witnessed it at least live by satellite. Many only had one place to go. Walgreens. Very busy. 30 people in line or so. Everyone has somewhat of a procrastinator in them. Good place to go if somebody has q tips on the christmas list. I guess. Some employees helped people pick out gifts. Walgreens is open for 24 hours. Glide memorial in San Francisco is continuing its christmas tradition right now serving thousands of meals to anyone who wants one. By the time christmas dinner is over at 2 p. M. , they expect to have served more than 5,000 people. And also in San Francisco, larkin Street Youth Services is cooking a holiday meal for at risk and homeless children. That started at noon and runs until 3 00. The nonprofit is serving christmas dinner at its haight street location. More than 100 people are expected. This is the nutcracker after all. Forward, forward, there it is. Reporter its an anniversary for the companys artistic director, as well. He put his own spin on the nutcracker 10 years ago and set it in 1915 San Francisco during the panpacific exposition. It must have been a magic place to be for children. So i thought, why dont i set the nutcracker in this particular time . All of these sequins have been replaced. Reporter in honor of the anniversary, the set and the costumes got a bit of a revamp. 10 years of wear doing about 75 performances in our season, includes a little dress rehearsal, puts a lot of wear on the costumes. This looks great. Reporter andria is head of women wardrobe. Three tutus were made from scratch. We rebeaded all the spanish both the womens and the mens. All the snowflakes got re rhinestoned. Reporter this is one of the costumes for the snow queen made in new york. It took about 3. 5 weeks to make. And over 20 people worked on it. It costs about 5,100. And check out this incredible detail. Every sequin, every bead, sewn on by hand. And everything must be just as it was from the day the costume first made its debut. Silly things like topaz rhinestones, we discovered dont exist anymore. So how do you find those . So a lot of it, its two things. Its really getting to jazz up and refurbish, but its also part Treasure Hunt on how to get those same supplies. She is recovering from a heart Lung Transplant at the hospital from last june. If we can do a job that people like, we get to tell them about katiegrace, its april winwin situation. Reporter her mother kathy says the family cant thank jeff enough for his generosity. It makes me feel really good. He just has a heart and when you meet him, it comes out. He orchestrates a 20minute story about a small snowman decorating for christmas. Unveiling of the bubble machine. Reporter the planning process takes months and up to 100 volunteers. So far, the shows raising thousands of dollars for katie graces ongoing needs. There are medicines she has to continue, she has to move because of a variety of postop illnesses. If i can find a way to use my own talents to help this little girl, awesome.
