First an event of the Four Seasons Hotel this morning in San Francisco. The secret service swept vehicles for bombs and paid the waited to see the president but they slipped out quietly to another fundraiser in los altos. Rescuers spent the night pulling passengers off a plane that crashed in taiwan. 47 people are dead and 11 injured. The Transasia Airways flight was trying to land in a storm when it slammed into the ground in the village on the pung humidity u island. The crash set two homes on fire. Heavy rain and winds continue to batter the area from a typhoon that just swept the island. The bodies of 200 of the 298 victims of Maylasia Airlines flight 17 have arrived in the netherlands. It was a somber ceremony as the coffins of the first victims from the crash arrived. Meanwhile, investigators continue to examine the tram go ahead debris field in ukraine where flight 17 was shot down. There was a missile near the crash site. Russia either shot down the plane itself or directly gave separatists the order and the ability to do so. S. Flights to and from tel aviv. A hamas rocket landed about a mile from the tel aviv airport yesterday prompting the ban. But israeli officials insisted its safe to fly to the area. As the fighting raged on, secretary of state john kerry took a military flight to tel aviv and met with ban kimoon from the u. N. And Palestinian Authority president mahmoud abbas. A 25yearold man was shot in the chest at 56th and mission streets about 11 00 last night. He died at the hospital. Police have no suspect information at this time. San Jose Police Department is understaffed and overworked. To help ease the workload, the city is having civilians now take on some of the tasks. Its part of a new Community Service officer program. These officers will do things like taking nonurgent calls for burglaries and stolen cars and writing up reports. 25 recruits are taking part in the initial five week academy thats happening right now. The Pink Saturday Party during San Francisco pride weekend is in jeopardy after continued violence at the event. At this years event in the castro a member of the organization that host the party was attacked by a group that was shouting homophobic remarks. This is just the latest offense. In past years there have been other attacks and a shooting. The sisters of perpetual indulgence are considering limiting the party or canceling it altogether. A man died in an accident near Half Moon Bay. Cal fire says the man was with friends digging a tunnel in the sand at Francis Beach monday. The hole collapsed burying him under 4 feet of sand. The photo from the Half Moon Bay review shows rescue crews and beachgoers frantically trying to dig him out. By the time they reached him, it was too late. Victim identified as 26year old adam pye seen here in a photo from his facebook page. The San Mateo County times says he was at the beach with some family friends. Airport police are looking for a potential victim of a man accused of groping women during Unauthorized Security patdowns at the San Francisco airport. 53yearold Eric Slighton was arrested earlierer this month. He is accused of posing as a security agent and touching at least two women inappropriately. Slighton allegedly motioned women into private screening rooms to grope them. The water is right off the coast in the 60s. Thats very warm for this time of year. 70s and 80s into the east bay maybe even upper 80s toward brentwood and antioch. Reporter the board voted unanimously to spend a half Million Dollars for up to 10 so called water cops to investigate complaints and educate people about wasted water. So they will go out and talk to the homeowner. They will talk to the business. They will let them know what violations that they are, uhm, uhm what restrictions are in place in their Service Areas and which ones theyre violating and also talk to them about the drought. Reporter they are not handing out fines but they will work with local water providers who, starting august 1, do have the authority to give out citations of up to 500. If you saw somebody wasting water, would that motivate you to call it in . Absolutely not. If i have a problem, ill go knock on my neighbors door and say, hey, did you know your sprinklers are filling the gutters . Because maybe they dont know. Reporter the district hopes that the new program will help them hit that voluntary 20 water reduction target. Right now, the county has only cut back 12 . Kiet do, kpix 5. District says the money for the water cops will come from its reserves, rates wont be affected. Theres a new proposal to protect fish in the Russian River. They want to close the river when water gets too low. Steelhead trouts are raised in tax fund hatcheries in the Russian River and are free to be caught.
