[ yelling and cursing ] reporter tensions against Salinas Police are still high the morning after crowds rioted in the streets. Last night, more than 100 officers came in from surrounding agencies to help control a crowd of more than 300 people. They are angry after the third and most recent Fatal Police Shooting this year. On tuesday, a witness captured the incident on her cell phone that showed officers responding to a call of a Man Threatening a woman with a pair of gardening shears and exposing his genitals to her. That pop and clicking you just heard is an officer firing a taser but it didnt work. They continued chasing him down the street where officers say he made a threatening move with the shears. They opened fire and killed him. By the next day, protestors peacefully gathered at the scene. But by nightfall, the growing crowd fueled by alcohol had become increasingly rowdy. Jorge gomez owns the restaurant right on the corner and had to shut down early two days in a row. A lot of people out fighting and it was not safe. Reporter during the nighttime protest, the man was shot and killed just a few blocks away in a completely separate incidents. Officers trying to perform cpr on that victim were attacked and thats when the riot broke out. Its the public right to demonstrate. But when it reaches the point where the police are coming in to help a victim and they start receiving bottles and damaging our cars and an officer is hit in the head while trying to save a victim, theres a problem there. Reporter the blood stains are still here on the sidewalk in front of the bakery where the man collapsed. The employees here say that his name was carlos and that he was from el salvador. He worked as a gardener and that explains why he had the large shears. They say he was acting out of character because he was drunk. A makeshift memorial is growing including signs calling for justice. Bakery employees say he was a regular customer and had family nearby and was hardworking. There is a Community Meeting set for 6 30 tonight. They will be planning an even larger demonstration for sunday. In salinas, kiet do, kpix 5. New details on the Southern California woman abducted 10 years ago with social media that eventually led to her reunion with her family. Her alleged kidnapper now her husband. He has been charged with five felony counts of rape and kidnapping. Something is wrong here. Reporter neighbors in the Southern California apartment complex are in shock after Police ArrestedIsidro Garcia and holding a woman captive for a decade. Do you believe he did this . Police say the alleged victim hadnt been in contact with her family since 2004 so when she reached out to her sister on facebook her mother stepped in and convinced her daughter to file Domestic Violence charges against her husband. The woman said she was abducted by her mothers boyfriend. Police confirmed her mother files a missing persons case hours after the girl disappeared and saved the newspaper articles to prove it. Investigators say garcia sedated the girl, 15, locked her in a compton garage and forged Fake Identities for him. They were married and she had his child. He convinced her that her family didnt care. Reporter neighbors paint a very different picture of an affectionate couple that was so in love they were having a baby. He bought her a car. Out of the blue get a hold of the family and that would be im in danger . It doesnt make sense. Elizabeth smart was taken from her utah bedroom in 2002 and at age 14, and held captive for nine months. She is now speaking out about the recen abduction. She says the victim in this case has a long road to recovery. Not only is she going to be trying to recover and move forward from everything that happened to her in a decade, now she is going to have the overwhelming, uhm, Media Attention and notoriety that comes along with her case. Your best bet out of the city will be highway 101. Crews will use the 4 day closure to replace a bridge hinge to make the roadway safer in case of an earthquake. Reporter the signs have been up for a while warning drivers but tonight the closure goes into effect. We are expecting biggerthan usual headaches leaving San Francisco all weekend. The southbound lanes of 280 close tonight at 9 00 and will remain closed over the memorial day weekend. The closures begin at king street and continue to mariposa. Fortunately crews can do the improvement work keeping the northbound lanes of 280 open. Typically, theres later traffic overall on a Holiday Weekend. But big events including several giants home games at at t park will make getting to and from the ballpark difficult. Friday and saturday are evening games. Sunday and monday giants games start at 1 00 in the afternoon. Highway 101 is going to be your best alternate even though it will likely get clogged. In addition to city streets, south of market. Detour using third and sixth streets to hop on westbound 80 and connect to southbound 101. Detour signs will will be in place. Caltrain and bart will be offering weekend service. Reporter they are being trained to become service dogs for veterans. Thats it. Good boy reporter but what makes this Program Unique is that its military men and women doing the training as part of their own therapy. From posttraumatic stress to traumatic brain injury, Wounded Warriors are finding healing and purpose in training these dogs to help others. What we find is that they might not be willing to do something for themselves but they would crawl through fire for another veteran or another service member. Reporter cate dorr opened the west coast chapter of the warrior canine connection. From her office at menlo park va, cate is a one woman powerhouse giving local vets what she calls canine therapy as she trains them to be trainers. The same skills that they practice with the dogs they are practicing on in their own lives as well. Reporter skills such as patience, impulse control, positive communication, were all needed to train ford to open it up. Playing tug of war. Good boy work on ford cutting on the light switch. Reporter john tyson has been a warrior trainer for seven months. After two tours in iraq he returned struggling with anxiety and depression and says working with cates dogs has been the best medicine. Good boy.
