Reporter good afternoon, crews are here digging through the rubble to figure out what caused this fire. The remains of the two victims were removed from the scene. When the firefighters arrived the fire was 800 degrees, they could feel the heat from across the street. Its not clear if they were trying to escape but the couples remains were found in the hallway outside the bedroom. I hoped nobody was hurt. Reporter cell phone footage taken before firefighters arrived shows flames shooting 20 to 30 feet into the air. By the time crews got there, it was too hot to look for survivors. Two people were still believed to have been inside. Right when i started within five minutes that thing was engulfed. They didnt make it out. The older woman walked slowly with a cane. The remains were found together by the bedroom. We dont have their identities at this time. But we suspect it could be the parents. Reporter the only person who got out safely was the son a man in his 40s who neighbors call joey. They say he was likely cooking on the stove when the fire broke out around 2 00 this morning. Neighbor ron peirsol says joey is mentally challenged. Hes harmless, you know. Every morning you can plan he goes for coffee for his parents. Reporter he is not in police custody. He will be interviewed today. Right now he is in the custody of the red cross providing him shelter and a place to stay for the night until they can figure out what to do with mr.
