He rules there is evidence that mlb interfered with a contract with an option on land. That means that part of the lawsuit continues hours after the as lost their final play off game this season falling 3 0 to the tigers. I just wish they would come to some kind of agreement. A break for today anyways but bay area commuters are still stuck right in the middle of negotiations between bart and its unions. Both sides are talking again this morning after agreeing to postpone a strike that could have happened at midnight. Kpix 5 reporter anne makovec with more on the talks that are continuing. Reporter they marched in here to the caltrans building at 10 00. They have not emerged since. So bargaining is going on as we speak. But although the strike was averted this morning, the unions did issue a 72hour notice of an intent to strike so there could be a strike if they dont reach an agreement all weekend long as soon as monday mornings commute. Last night the district did attempt to give yous last best final offer. What we said to them was, wait a minute. We have proposals that are still on the table. Reporter those proposals are being discussed this morning. As the two sides agreed to bargain through the weekend. Its not a simple, uhm, puzzle to put together when you have so many moving parts. Reporter one of the biggest another looming strike possibility when the next deadline hits at 11 59 sunday night. But former Assembly Speaker willie brown doesnt think the union also actually walk. And they really are just posturing. But let me tell you what is significant, they are talking about bringing in politicians and some of the bart directors in the room from this moment on. That means settlement is at hand. Reporter bart general manager is in the room today but barts chief negotiator says he doesnt want too many cooks in the kitchen when it comes to politicians. I think it takes up time that could be used for actual bargaining. Reporter bargaining that isnt over until its over. When we still have things that are open, you cant shove this down our throats without talking to us about it. Take this. Thats not how it works. Reporter there are three unions involved in these negotiations. One of the unions has said its not planning on striking at all. It will stay at the bargaining table. Unfortunately thats the smallest of the three unions only 200 employees. So they really wouldnt have much of an impact if the other two unions were to strike. Frank . Anne, what about paul buses bart prepped for a potential strike today. What happens to those . Reporter the contingency plan, yeah. They put down a deposit for buses, about 225,000 a day. We dont know how much they put down for this deposit. But they will lose that money. They are going to be paid back by the metropolitan Transportation Commission but that all comes out of tax dollars so we just paid that deposit. All right, anne makovec live in oakland, thank you so much. And there was a sense of relief on the faces of many commuters this morning. No strike at least for today meant an easier time getting to work. Kpix 5 reporter cate caugiran has more. Reporter consider this a wave of relief. Bart riders werent the only ones happy there was no strike today. Regular ac transit passengers got off at the transbay terminal thankful they didnt have to fight for a seat. No bart strike this morning. Reporter friday morning these regular lieders didnt have to wait in long lines to compete for a seat or stand back to back with bart commuters. The buses were their own. Wonderful. It was great. It was great. Reporter none of them can forget what it was like in july when ac transit took on a good load of stranded bart riders. Frustrating. We didnt get seats. We had to take the next bus or we had to stand. The buses were packed, super packed, uncomfortable. It was horrible because i had to get up earlier, i had to leave work earlier. So reporter so getting bus this morning seeing empty seats, what was that like . I was happy because sometimes they pass me by. Reporter even ac transit drivers were happy. One driver told me, julys strike was incredibly stressful trying to pick up a small fraction of barts daily commuters. So they are keeping their fingers crossed that the last strike was in fact the last strike. In San Francisco, cate caugiran, kpix 5. When the couscous was 70 done we put it in a rosemary stock and it gives off this flavor that goes all around the couscous. Well remove the stalk and add in some more mediterranean flavor like some mozzarella and some olives. I prefer green olives over black for the flavor. Add in some canellini beans. You have to make sure you rinse these because theres so much salt in the olives that it will ruin the dish if you dont. Add a little parsley to it. Youll know when to stop stirring this when you start to see the mozzarella, the strings are coming off. That means its warming up, its starting to melt and all the flavors are going to come together at the same temperature. Now to make it mediterranean even more. As if it wasnt already, a little olive oil, salt and black pepper. Beautiful. French bread and were done. Time to eat. Next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the beatles American Invasion but where did it all get started . Now its chronicled in a new book, when they were boys, the true story of the beatles rise to the top. Joining us is author larry cane who was there when the beatles landed in the states. That was in 1964. Cow palace september 19, 1964. They arrived on the 18th. Great stories. Im sure theres somebody out there in their mid60s screaming pulling their hair out throwing jellybeans and getting totally out of control. Some of us younger guys do it, too. We could sit down and figure out a novel with six guys in liverpool going from nowhere to somewhere and the potholes they fell into, the sicknesses they had, the parents who supported them despite the fact that two of them that died very young, two parents. The trip though hamburg where they had to be shot up every couple of days because they were so sick from engaging themselves with the wrong time of working women. The fact that they almost doesnt make it. The betrayal of one of the band members. The love, the support, the fact that 25 people gave them everything they needed to get going. Lets talk about pete best because he was the original drummer. Ringo came in. I imagine you did you talk to him . Pete best is one of the most amazing people. It could have been easily been pete, john, paul and george. If you stayed in the band they would have been successful. Thats the there by the way. You touring with the band. Thats me, there. Pete was very envied by members because of his good looks, like you, you know . [ laughter ] and, you know, you know what happens and heres the deal. On one day in Manchester England in 1963, they played a big concert before several hundred people. The girls tried to split the john and paul together so they could see pete. Pete couldnt get out. The other boys did, they went on a bus and they put pete in a hamper and its like a linen hamper you see in the hotels and a girl smashed through the cloth of the hamper, squeezed in to him, got a piece with a scissors of his shirt and stabbed him. Oh, my gosh. He gets on the bus and Paul Mccartneys dad is there, a sweet guy, and he just lost it. He pulled at his lapels. He said see, youve shown up the boys again. A month later he was gone. And the stories by the way its a glorious story about a lot of stuff. You talk about their beginnings and some of them did have rough beginnings and then they had this instant fame and success. How did they handle it . Not instant. It took seven years and nobody listened to them. They handled it with such great panache and class. I mean, i was 21. Two of them were two years old, mccartney same, george a year younger. They were wonderful to travel with. They were so brilliant for their age when i told them the gator bowl in the jacksonville stadium was going to be segregated, they refused to play this. Magic. A lot of fish in there, a lot of temper problems but, you know, familiarity may breed contempt but in this case, it bred the greatest music in the history of recorded music. What are some of the surprises in the book . Some of the surprises include the fact that ringo starr was involved in some activities where he was arrested which surprised me. His mother, he was the poorest one he didnt have facilities, they were supported by people who didnt want to support them. They were people they rigged a newspaper poll. They didnt rig it, the editor, their classmate, bill harry, decided to say, lets make the beatles number one in liverpool and they rigged the poll its like saying theyre number one in liverpool and everybody else around the country knows but they loved them and that was the story. Theres the book, when they were boys, true story of the beatles, growing up with larry kane. Thank you. Well be right back. ,,,,,,,,, i already started reading that. Its fabulous. Have a great afternoon. And a great weekend captions by caption colorado comments captioncolorado. Com brooke good morning, sweetie. Hope hi. Brooke theres coffee. Hope oh, good. I need it.
