The students claim the version of American History taught in california classrooms is at best incomplete and at worst biased and inaccurate. Failing to adequately cover the experiences, accomplishments and frequent mistreatment of communities of color and women. Theres definitely value of looking at the good things we have done. Theres definitely value in being proud of those things. And theres even more value in in acknowledging what we havent done correctly. History as its taught in schools is does have to be a broad canvas and we have to teach a great amount of information. But the choices in what information we present. Reporter members of a history club at Los Altos High School which calls itself the left guild for its liberal politics say they spent month reviewing the state history standards. Reporter adrian moore takes us through that process. It actually is i think a pretty realistic goal. Reporter its an idea that could harvest some groundbreaking results and change the way we make wine. Its a matter of taking these existing technologies and putting them together in a way that nobody has really done before. Reporter david block is one of more than a dozen researchers at ucdavis looking to keep you raising a glass instead of inducing sour grapes during the drought. If you walk through a vineyard like this one, not every vine needs the same amount of watered. Reporter with a specialized system that includes using rainwater, the group is irrigating 640 vines giving each individual one the exact amount of water it needs. Its all Wireless Technology and so the goal is to be able to be sitting somewhere remotely from the vineyard and be able to control the amount of water that each vine is getting depending on the amount of water it needs. Will these grapes eventually look smaller because youre not putting so much water into it . So its its possible that the grapes might be smaller. And the other key thing is, is the ability to clean this in an automated way. And so these are set up to cip technology. Reporter cip, or clean in place technology, allows automated cleaning of fermenting tanks which researchers then reuse. Well save that in a tank and the cleaning system and use that for the first rinse of the next tank. Reporter with much more analysis still ahead, the fruits of their labor could bring some sustainable success with your next sip. Making sure that the next generation and the generation after that can still be in that business and help to make great wine and to support californias economy. Thats the goal for u. They hope to make this happen in the next five years across the state. Every drop counts. Every drop. Every drop. Every drop. Especially when youre running out of drops. We are. Yeah. We dont see any drops in the near future. If there are three months where you can say forget about it, we are coming to it. We get. 25 of rainfall in the three combined months. But it turns out, things werent all that different here in california at the time. Reporter steve large takes us back. [ music ] reporter its a different era. With stunning similarities. California has the same governor and another devastating drought. The fourdecade difference is definitely word a closer look. What better place to take a step back in california history than by heading to the state library and the california history room. In 1975, the new governor then was gracing magazine covers. People magazine put him on the cover with the title the farout candidate who puzzles almost everybody. What was to come . In this magazine perhaps a fore shadowing no one expected. Turn the page and who is flexing but arnold schwarzenegger. Then there were the 1975 drought headlines. Comparisons to the grapes of wrath. Concerns over water grabs. Reporter boy, did i find him. What are the odds that i would meet the director of Water Resources in 1975 here on the Street Corner of the capital and 25th street . I have no idea. Reporter reggie is his name. So . Fair to say we were in a drought when the governor was so is it fair to say we were in a drought when the governor was in his first time in 1975 . Not in 1975. But in 1976, during his first term there was the worst drought in history until this one. Reporter its a case of repeated history, water, politics and now championship basketball. Four decades apart but somehow, still tied together. Steve large reporting. Back in 75, i was graduating high school that year, you can get an nba finals ticket for nine bucks. Now 600 a pop. In 1975, the warriors went into the series as underdogs and swept the washington bullets. Those tight shorts are coming back. Not coming back. Google could bring them back. You never know. Fremont 53. San rafael, redwood city, and santa rosa all around 50 degrees tonight. Summertime, we do dry in the summer better than most places in the country. If you add up all of june, all of july, all of august, we average less than a. 25 of rain in total for that 92day stretch so dont think about rain for a while. We probably wont get much. Away from the water this weekend 77 in walnut creek. The art and Wine Festival heather park farm tomorrow and sunday. Tomorrow will be warmer. One more day, this ridge of High Pressure hangs on. What this is doing it is limiting the influence of the pacific ocean. Always chilly out here this time of year. How much of that influence do we get . Not that much right now. Along lot coastline its there but not inland. By sunday, low pressure develops off the coastline gets closer brings back that onshore flow. And temperatures will drop. So tomorrow, warmer and sunnier. If you like it cool and cloudy, sunday is your day. The next we call a zonal flow where we dont have a big rise or dip in the jet stream. Things flow west to east which means the coastal locations will stay cool and inland will stay mild to warm. That is your forecast for next week. Low clouds and fog near the bay and coast tonight. Again thats about 28 straight nights. One more warm day inland. Thats tomorrow. Were all cooler. Were all cloudier on sunday. Temperatures very close to average tomorrow. As a matter of fact, all of our bigger cities within one degree of average. San jose 78. Your average is 77. Union city 71. Burlingame and san mateo upper 60s. He will have the next couple of days and well reevaluate. This break has turned out to be good for us obviously and maybe good for cleveland too because they have some injuries. But, um, his just something we have to work through and well see how it goes. As for the warriors opponent, cleveland, well, cant find a better local angle than this. Long before he was doing this, Matthew Dellavedova was doing this for the st. Marys gaels. Look at this.
