In those years we averaged nearly double the normal rainfall 43 in those rains. What are the computer models saying . The latest information coming out is sending the el nino all the way up here anything above 2 would be a very strong el nino and most computer models have us there sometime this fall. As for this one, he is cautiously optimistic. It increases the chances of having above normal rainfall. It was being ridden by a woman when it lossities footing on a narrow trail when it lost its footing on a narrow trail. The woman was unhurt. The horse lay motionless much of the time in the branches and brush. There was occasional movement. Park rescuers and a veterinarian spent hours working to untangle the horse and tend to its injuries. They were able to move it away from the tree where it was trapped. They have the horse upright at one point but apparently its injuries were too severe and we are just learning they were forced to euthanize it. The oil traveled underground and came out through a crack in the cliff and poured into the ocean. The slick is about a mile long both in the water and covering the beach. People living in the area say the odor is so strong, they are leaving their homes. We are at about 1500 feet above the water right now and we can smell this, as well. We heard that there were some cleanup efforts already on the way, some ships that are out here. The pipe belongs to plains all american pipeline. And that company has two lines in that area. The marin county tech executive is on trial for the savage beating of a driver in april of last year. Prosecutors say smock was riding his bike through mill valley when a pickup nearly clipped him. Today, multiple eyewitnesses testified smock caught up to the truck at this intersection and began yelling. They say he grabbed or punched at the driver through his open window and when the driver got out, smock began repeatedly hitting him in the face, even after the man laid bleeding on the ground. The victim, a contractor named roman laskowski, was hospitalized with head and rib injuries. But smocks Attorney Says it was the driver who attacked smock when he moved back to get a license plate number. The defense reportedly plans to use precise information from the hightech gps device on smocks bike to refute the testimony of the eyewitnesses. Smock was named an entrepreneur of the year in 2009. Reporter last night we told but a handful of disabled drivers who said they had not received their renewal parking placards from the dmv. Well, it turns out now there are 95,000 of them the dmv originally told us it sent out all the disabled parking placards to those who had renewed more than a months ago. Their current placards expire in june. That sparked concerns among those who still have not received their placards like Lorraine Burke and many of her neighbors. Well, after our story aired, dmv headquarters in sacramento issued a correction. It said, almost 100,000 renewal placards have yet to be mailed. The agency says they should all go out by the end of the month. And that huge airbag recall, well, it exploded today. Under pressure from nhtsa, airbag maker takata agreed to double the size of the recall. It now includes 34 million vehicles making it the largest recall in u. S. History. Takatas fix is to replace the devise that inflate the bags. But there arent enough of those parts and drivers are being forced to wait months for a fix. There are a few showers on the radar and i expect to see a similar picture for the next three afternoons. Theres enough unstable air that hits our north bay mountains. We may see an isolated shower or thunderstorm. You got rocked a couple of days ago around clearlake and lakeport.
