One protestor chained his neck to a pole with a bike lock. The protestors were arrested after a couple of hours. 14 were taken to a holding cell at lake merritt station. It was there that the protestors told us why they did this. We shut down commerce on black friday to say that black lives matter. The country runs on money. The developer has promised to pay 15,000 to have the mural recreated at the new location. A second grader named vivian becomes the target of a private investigator hired by her school. Also the School District gave vivian until next week to leave her orinda school after deciding that she didnt live in the district. How her mother is a livein nanny for a family there and vivian lives there as well in orinda during the school week but the district told vivian she would be kicked out of class by next friday. Absolutely she is part of our family and she refers to my son as her younger brother. I told my mom if i moved the school then ill be crying for a week. Today the School District told us that vivian wont have to leave school after all. They say they have now confirmed that she does live in that orinda home. The crew of the coast guard cutter stratton returned home to alameda today. There were lots of hugs and greetings from family members on the dock. The strattons crew left home in july and completed a 24,000 mile deployment to the arctic and central america. Reporter San Franciscos beat Museum Celebrates the 1950s writings of jack kerouac and his band of nonconformist beatniks who invented a new way to express themselves. Its the idea that writing could also be like music and it could have a beat. And that writing could be like the beat. And thats how he wrote. Reporter kerouacs most famous work, on the road, was written in a strange new stream of consciousness style that he took from a letter written by his best friend, neil cassidy. Cassidy is regarded as the founder of the beat generation that eventually gave rise to the hippie counterculture of the 1960s. But the famous letter was lost. Rumored to have been dropped over the side of a sausalito houseboat that is, until now. Neil cassidys mittic letter called the Joan Anderson letter that was written to jack kerouac in 1950 has been found intact. Reporter jerry who owns the museum says a woman found the 18page letter while looking through a box of old manuscripts from a defunct company. We are calling this is holy grail of the beat generation. Reporter the letter influenced kerouac and kerouac influenced everyone from bob dylan and the beatles and they changed the world. Thats why he believes the letter will probably sell for millions. Its really that important. Because again, there is the letter that taught jack kerouac how to write.
