Tonight on this new years eve, 2013 and we are going to be looking for a dry 2014 at least for the next couple of weeks. The numbers right now are mostly in the 50s. Kind of balmy for the bay area with 52 degrees at concord and 52 for oakland. Livermore has 53 and santa rosa is down to 49 as we look from high atop the transamerica pyramid. Now the skyline of San Francisco partly cloudy and on the chilly side tonight but again, the 53 degrees at 9 00 at night is almost an average high at livermore for a daytime high so we say chilly but its all relative. Great night for fireworks in the bay area and the midnight temperatures looking good for everybody else. 45 in san jose. 44 for livermore by midnight. 39 in santa rosa, 46 in the city. We have the big roller coaster of the jet stream. If we have unusually warm weather here, you can bet somewhere they are having unusually bad or cool weather and an extended period of it. As the jet stream is sweeping really low and south across the midsection of the country, they continue with snow and cool weather but you come over to the west coast and its this high thats not moving thats giving us the unusually warm and dry weather we have had. So as long as that west coast high is parked in place, we have warm temperatures and for the next two weeks no rain in sight. None in the next couple of days for sure. No rain this week.
