But the organizer expects it to begin earlier and counter protestors are planning to come out to crissy field. Already this morning we are seeing barricades, signs up, warning people of closures here at this popular park. Now, today also a rally is going to be held. Mayor lee, london breed, board of supervisors, Community Leaders gathering at city hall to celebrate San Franciscos values of compassion, love and inclusion. That will be the theme at city hall today and Civic Center Plaza. This is happening at noon. It was a different story when a fight started at the Patriot Prayer event in portland two weeks ago but the organizer joey gibson says he comes to San Francisco in peace. He does not want another portland or charlottesville. On facebook, he blasted San Francisco mayor lee for not speaking out about violence by left wing activists. He invited people of color. Volunteers will create a huge human heart at the ocean beach and at civic center an event. In the mission, counter protestors were making signs ahead of the Patriot Prayer rally. Frisco resistance. [ speaking spanish ] his group does not represent our america. We are the grassroots. We are the people of color on the streets. If they have some token people of color there that are being puppeteered and they are not conscious of that, then they should come over here and get some lessons from us. Reporter now, to prevent any kind of violence, crissy field will be divided into two zones. No pedestrian, bike or vehicle access from Golden Gate Bridge. Streets will be closed in the presidio and crissy field and the only way on to crissy field tomorrow will be from the east, thats at the marina gate on Marina Boulevard near the palace of fine arts. No weapons are allowed. So they will block off the area and have one entrance so they can check everyone make sure they dont bring things not permitted. Neda iranpour, kpix 5. Berkeley denied a permit to sundays antimarxist rally but it is expected to go on anyway and the police chief says that Law Enforcement will be ready. Chief greenwood wouldnt give specifics on how officers will handle violent clashes at the rally in berkeleys Civic Center Park but he says authorities have learned from past events and that this time around, there will be one major difference. The number of officers on the ground. We are prepared with plans. Greenwood also said people should consider attending sanctioned peaceful events scheduled for sunday morning and stay away from Civic Center Park during the rally. Harvey is quickly making its way towards the gulf coast and is expected to be a category 3 hurricane when it makes landfall. Early this morning, the storm was upgraded to a category 2 with winds predicted to be greater than 111 Miles Per Hour and rainfall close to 3 feet in some areas. It looks to be the most powerful storm to make landfall in the United States since 2005. Coastal residents are taking it seriously and many have boarded up their homes and stocked up on supplies as officials urge them to evacuate and head inland. Im watching it. Im going to take the chance. The governor of texas has already declared a preemptive state of disaster in 30 counties. In washington, dc, a fiscal Storm Brewing over the debt ceiling as President Trump battles with republicans leaders. President trump criticized men needed to get things done in congress. He accused Mitch Mcconnell and paul ryan of botching efforts to avoid defaulting on the National Debt by not including debt ceiling legislation in a Veterans Affairs bill. I think the relationships are fine. Certainly there are going to be some policy differences but there are also a lot of shared goals and thats what were focused on. State lawmakers also making a push to ban the marketing of pot edibles to children. This comes just months before shops can start selling marijuana for recreational use. The proposed bill was recently approved by the senate. It prohibits packaging and labeling of marijuana products that show pot edibles such as cookies and candy bars. We have been talking to leaders who say they have been envisioning this day for more than a decade. Full Service Passenger Train Service here in the north bay today launches today and on this opening day, rides will be free starting in the afternoon. If you do want a free ride, you can catch it from this sonoma airport station. That will go around 12 49 or so. And that will be the first free ride of the day. Commuters will be able to catch trains at ten stations between Sonoma County airport and downtown san rafael. And this is expected to ease traffic on highway 101 by giving commuters an alternate route. Through labor day, fares will be half off and then after that, regular fares will be 3. 50 to 11. 50. Thats all depending where youre going. The train runs 7 days a week and has an onboard cafe where you can buy food and drinks and wine and beer. Smart train has a soft launch with limited service earlier this summer and we were there. We caught up with some excited passengers. Reporter are you excited . Yeah. Oh, for 101 drivers . Yeah for people coming into the city. So starting i guess monday well see that. That will be very exciting. So it will be interesting just to see if there are changes in the traffic pattern. Right now, were tracking no delays with mass transit. An excellent choice if you would like to avoid the roads this morning because they are not looking good. Especially for drivers heading along 680, two separate accidents. The first one southbound 680 near coopman and one in the backup near sunol boulevard so traffic backed up to 580 at this point and 20 minutes is your travel time southbound. 880 getting a bit sluggish out of san lorenzo on into hayward. But still moving. We are in the yellow. But its about 13 minutes if you would like to use that as an alternate and over to pacifica where were tracking an accident blocking at least one lane. This is northbound one right at highway 35 and traffic starting to back up stretching towards manor at this point. So do expect delays if you are trying to get out of pacifica this morning. Over at the Richmond San Rafael bridge, things are starting to stack up just a bit and we are getting reports of an accident in the eastbound direction as you approach the toll plaza. I definitely saw many, many residents evacuating as i was driving down south from san antonio to Corpus Christi in that main Evacuation Route that highway, i saw lines of cars going in the other direction and the direction that they are supposed to be going away from this coastal region. They had packed their cars up with their belongings. Many of them had taken their boats and their families headed more inland. I spoke to residents who were coming down here to pick up their boats or to go empty out their vacation homes along the beach. And i spoke to people who have loved ones further south in texas who said they were coming in. So i did hear many people heeding those warnings but i also saw many people saying they want to hunker down to ride it out. Thank you, stay safe. We have two crashes, one over at the sunol boulevard thats finally cleared out of lanes. And one as you approach coopman road. They are waiting for a tow. Highway 84 a crash as you are approaching the toll plaza for the dumbarton bridge. Do expect some slowdowns in that westbound direction. Hats a check of your traffic; over to you. Thank you. They are only going to allow one way in on the east side right off Marina Boulevard and thats just a way to try to keep the peace. They are expecting ralliers to arrive with Patriot Prayer along with counterprotestors so the fear here is of course there may be violence. And thats why also today the mayor of San Francisco, board of supervisors, all taking part in an sf unite against hate rally. Mayor lee joined by london breed, community and other leaders at city hall to peacefully celebrate what they claim San Francisco is known as, a city of compassion, love and inclusiveness. Everyone is welcomed today at polk street steps and Civic Center Plaza at noon. The Patriot Prayer tends to lead to violence. A fight started at the Patriot Prayer rally in portland a couple of weeks ago. But organizer joey gibson says he doesnt want fighting and certainly doesnt want another charlottesville. He said on facebook, some of his invited guests are people of color. That proves he is not a white supremacist. But people associate his pro Trump Movement with White Supremacists and they worry neo nazis. Kkk supporters will turn out here. So they do tend to come out in droves to counterprotest. Thats why streets will be closed in presidio, so will pedestrian, bike and car access from the Golden Gate Bridge. Its better to be prepared than surprised. I think the fact that sfpd is putting up barricades, i know the park police have worked diligently to prepare for the event. Park police is good at dealing with these things. Reporter several other rallies are planned for tomorrow to try to keep people away from crissy field. This includes a stop hate gathering at ocean beach. The police chief says authorities have learned from past events and stresses this one will see a boost in officers a lawmaker is calling on california to become the first state to support a censure of the president. Tony thurmond introduced a measure that would support efforts by some in congress to formally disapprove of the president s response to the violence in charlottesville. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi introduced a resolution for a congressional censure last week. The last president to be censured was Andrew Jackson in 1834. Counterprotester Heather Heyer you probably remember was killed in the charlottesville rally after she was hit by a car. And today the Chinatown Community in San Francisco is hosting a vigil against hate groups and violence. Starting at 6 30 tonight at chinese cultural center. The Planning Commission approved the plans yesterday. The facility would be transformed into a neighborhood full of housing, parks, shops and offices. 30 of the housing would be affordable.
