It is the beginning of the Castro District so a lot of people walk in this area and that is the on and offramp for highway 101. So that is where we saw an accident just a couple of days ago. This is one of the areas the city is focusing in on here on Market Street from octavia to castro and thats after two deadly accidents in the past two days. A 77yearold woman was killed crossing the street saturday night at lake merced boulevard. A pickup hit her. And then yesterday morning a 56 yearold man died here at market and octavia hit by a car at the onramp. These crashes are happening on high injury corridors. But the good news, if we know where crashes are going to happen and why, we can prevent them. Reporter 70 of San Franciscos serious traffic crashes happened on 12 of the citys streets. So the plan up for a vote today would add expanded medians, islands and wider corners. The San Francisco municipal Transit District is taking a vote on that plan at 1 00 today at city hall. Reporter this is also the man who is accused of attempting to kidnap three women before the disappearance of sierra lamar. 26yearold Antolin Garcia torres has pleaded not guilty to the charges accused of abducting and kidnapping excuse me, abducting and killing sierra lamar back in 2012. She was just 15. The trouble with the case is that her body was never found. Now, throughout the trial, we have heard lots of discussion about other physical evidence key to this trial. Its clear from this case that the battleground is going to be the dna evidence. And what the defense did suggested it was contaminated at the beginning. Reporter the physical evidence is significant. It includes dna found in Garcia Torress car and on lamars clothing found in a field near her home. Most recently inside the courtroom we heard from a digital evidence forensic examiner who says sierra lamar loved social media even used twitter and email up until the morning of her disappearance. Closing arguments are set to begin at 9 00 this morning. We have been told that Garcia Torres will not testify. Jury deliberations very hard to predict but with Something Like the Death Penalty on the table it could take a little while. Live in san jose, Sandra Osborne, kpix 5. The man accused of a deadly shooting rampage at Oikos University in oakland is due in court today to plead. One goh is charged with 7 counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder. A judge recently decided he is fit to stand trial. The shooting happened in april of 2012. Prosecutors say that the former Nursing Student dropped out of Oikos University several months wanted his tuition refunded. His hearing gets under way at 9 a. M. A man was last seen at a South Pasadena park with his father. Today Los Angeles County supervisors will vote on approving a 10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest or conviction in his disappearance. The father was arrested and then released. New this morning an inmate who escaped from a Sonoma County jail is back behind bars. Deputies believe Richard Medina tied bedsheets together and climbed a fence. For the last three years the path stopped short of Yerba Buena Island and it was completed in october but only open during weekends starting today it will be open 7 days a week from 6 a. M. To 8 p. M. For anyone who wants to bike, walk or run but the path doesnt go all the way to Treasure Island. Transportation Officials Say those plans are still in the works. And so we are only able to bring this about because of a Lease Agreement with them allowing to us build this and so its, you know, to the public we just want them to enjoy it but i think its also good to know that this is a multiagency collaboration. He is also accused of attempted kidnapping of three other women in 2009. He pled not guilty to all charges.
