This morning, californias one step closer to becoming a sanctuary state. Thats after the state Senate Passed a so call sanctuary state bill. It would ban state and local Law Enforcement from using their resources to help federal immigration authorities. The bill now heads to the assembly. Meanwhile, Emeryville City Council is considering a resolution that calls for a sanctuary workplace. Immigrant workers and faith leaders plan to rally ahead of that 6 p. M. Meeting. The resolution seeks to ensure workers of all backgrounds can have a voice on the job without fear of retaliation. Oakland city council will also consider a sanctuary workplace resolution on the 14th. President trump is gearing up for another showdown over his travel ban. A federal Appeals Court in San Francisco is planning to have a hearing in may over an injunction issued by a hawaii judge. That judge ruled against the travel ban three weeks ago putting it on hold nationwide with a temporary restraining order. Last week the judge in hawaii extended it with a preliminary injunction. The revised ban would have temporarily barred refugees from the six muslim countries from entering the u. S. Without a visa. This morning, Russian Police say the man they think blew himself up on a st. Petersburg subway car may have had ties to radical islam. It is believed the 22yearold russian citizen carried a bomb in a backpack on the train yesterday. 11 people died, 45 others were injured in the blast in Vladimir Putins hometown. Sheriffs deputies say that he called 911 to report that the girl he called his companion jumped out of his truck near bodega bay and ran off. When officers got to her, she told them that he tied her to a tree and then sexually assaulted her. Police say he has a criminal history but no previous Sexual Assault charges. Happening today, people displaced by last weeks deadly west oakland fire are pleading for help before theyre forced to leave temporary housing arrangements. That fire killed four people last monday morning. It was likely sparked by a candle that burned a paper plate and caused those flames to spread quickly. But former tenants of the building have only been given until april 6 to remain in temporary housing. Some say Code Enforcement is the key to stopping this kind of fire from happening again. Get on these codes to make sure a building is habitable. In january, staff at an oakland fire station recommended shutting down that building specifically over safety concerns. As early as today President Trumps administration could unveil details of a revised plan to repeal and replace obamacare according to a member of the House Freedom caucus who met Vice President mike pence in washington last night. Under the proposal, goodwill of Silicon Valley would take in up to 20 light duty vehicles and then distribute those vehicles to flood victims whose cars were badly damaged or destroyed in february. The testing of smart trains is on pause because of a landslide near a tunnel. They should have it patched up next week. The Los Angeles Fire Department is investigating a massive fire that started last night at a Food Processing plant. Multiple units responded to that huge fire as flames burst out from the roof more than 100 firefighters arrived at the scene to pitch in. Now, crews are monitoring hot spots as the l. A. Fire department determines the cause. A Southern California pilot walked away safely after landing in a parking lot. This happened last night outside a michael kors distribute center in whittier. No one else was on the plane and no one on the ground was injured. Two people were stabbed several times in san jose and they are trying to find the suspect. Officers found the victims near locust at around midnight. Both were taken to the hospital. They are expected to survive. No suspect information this morning. Mountain view people are trying to find out if a man arrested for alleged sex crimes has assaulted anyone else. He was taken into custody sunday afternoon. He is accused of flashing and accosting. He reportedly confessed to having a quote inappropriate relationship with a teenager. In San Francisco, the 24 yearold suspect in a fatal oceanview shooting is released with no charges. Police arrested Jonathan Santos within an hour of the shooting that left a 65yearold woman dead. Lian wu was killed wednesday as she walked to a bus stop. Two others were shot and are recovering. Santos was originally booked on suspicion of murder but yesterday the d. A. s Office Released him saying the investigation is ongoing. Today the state senate will discuss a bill to prohibit smoking marijuana while driving. Voters passed prop 64 to legalize Recreational Marijuana it didnt address driving while stoned.
