We are tracking the leading edge of the approaching storm system right now over the northern portion of the state. Most of us will stay dry for most of the day today. The north bay will see showers before too long over the next few hours. Theres rain just north of the viewing area. So most of us today increasing clouds, mild temperatures definitely cooler than average. Out the door in the mid50s. 49 in santa rosa. Later today as i mentioned we are staying cool once again. Similar to what we saw yesterday and the day before topping out only in the low to mid70s inland. 60s at the coast. The big weather story is the rain. I paused futurecast at 3 00 when we start to see scattered showers an unsettled weather for the north bay ahead of the approaching front. Now, the models are slowing down the timing of this front just a bit. So now it looks like 6 a. M. Is where futurecast is painting this front passing through santa rosa, heading towards San Francisco and the east bay. It does move through during the morning commuting hours exactly when were still going to have to wait to see. But in the meantime, we do know it should be a very impressive storm system in terms of rainfall totals. We are looking at upwards of 3 to 5 inches over a series of days so the first system comes through tomorrow another or saturday with lingering showers through sunday and monday. Could see some spots in the south bay up to an inch of rain there. Of course many folks will see far less than that. But we are hoping to get some significant rainfall totals and this is actually not very common to see a significant system this early in the season. Take a look.
