About 200 firefighters have been working to stop the fire from the air and on the ground. Right now, the evacuation orders in the area are voluntary. For about 300 people. We cant force people to leave their homes. We advise them. We give them the best information we can. And obviously we are concerned for their safety, and you know, thats why we are letting them know what we know. This is what the fire looked like as night fell last night. Temperatures have obviously been cooler which is a huge relief for firefighters battling very hot temperatures yesterday. And they are expected to rise again today. So firefighters are taking advantage of the overnight hours. And this morning, we will get a better look at how far the fire has spread and once we are able to take another look at it from the air. A lot of animals have been evacuated as well. And a lot of them are going to some of the Evacuation Centers, if they are allowed. Otherwise, the santa cruz Animal Shelter is allowing animals to temporarily stay there. Right now, live in morgan hill, anne makovec, kpix 5. And those temperatures are rising julie. We are expected to see temperatures up above 90 degrees, once again today. And upper 90s for some spots, in that area. And now, the only Silver Lining is that winds will be relatively light. Northwest winds about 10 miles an hour. But as you know, these big fires create wind patterns of their own. Definitely not great Fire Fighting conditions today. Hot and dry weather for firefighters battling the blaze. For folks in the valley floor. Unhealthy air quality already forecast, both the south bay and the east bay and the south bay very close to where the fire is burning and the smoke will likely khreubt to even worse air quality for folks doctor contribute to even worse air quality for folks in the valley today. And if you have outdoor plans, try to keep the kids indoors and it may be a good day to skip the outdoor practices. Spare the air i dont in effect for the entire bay area today. Use mass transit if you can. Outside, over the city, would he have clear skies. And not much is happening, no marine layer this morning and helping to keep us warm, to hot, once again, around the bay area. And the temperatures this morning, they are running slightly cooler in some spots than this time yesterday and still another very warm start. And we will see another hot day today. And in fact, well above average. So average this time of the year is near 70 for San Francisco and oakland. And near 80 for san jose and concord. And today, we are running anywhere from 10 to 15 degrees above average. Once again. And we are going to shave off a couple of degrees for most locations. So yesterday, where you ma i have seen triple digits you might see 99 today. And i dont know that it will feel a whole lot cooler for most folks, especially inland and temperatures are just beginning to come down. We may see a little bit more relief along the coast as we are anticipating the marine layer beginning to return tonight. So it may be a couple of degrees cooler along the coast first. But not feeling much relief inland. Temperatures in the low 90s for san jose. And 89 mountain view. And 80 in san jose today and 93 santa rosa. And 97 fairfield and 97 in concord. And 99 in livermore today. And wrapping up with the weather headlines here, a clear warm start. Still hot for tuesday. And much cooler midweek and beyond. I have details on that cooldown coming up in the full forecast. But first, here is rocky with the roadways. Thank you, julie. Time now is 6 04. A pretty quiet morning so far in the traffic center. We will keep you updatedz to how the south bay is looking and expect delays through the morgan hill area as well. Lets take a look now in the east bay. The Altamont Pass, slowing down, and still slowing down at 14 miles per hour. And 205 to the Altamont Pass, westbound, it will take you a heavy 35 minutes right now. So if youre headed out the door, make sure youre prepared for that. It frees up a bit through livermore. Then of course, have you more slow traffic on the dublin int change. Here is a live look at that. Altamont pass to 680 westbound. It will take you about 16 to 20 minutes. Lets move over to the nimitz freeway. Looking pretty good in both directions. The president ial candidates are back on the campaign trail today with both Hillary Clinton and donald trump, claiming victory, in last nights debate. And jamie yuccas has more on the face to face showdown between the nominees. I have been a senator, donald. You havent done it. The first of the three eagerly anticipated president ial debates was anything but friendly. Hillary has experience but it is bad experience. I know you live in your own reality. The debate focused on many topics voters have heard before. I will release my tax returns when she releases her 33,000 emails that have been deleted. It was a mistake. And i take responsibility for that. Topics of race, National Security, and jobs, dominated on the stage, but it was the sometimes auk waurd and pointed attacks that are making headlines. I dont believe she does have the stamina to be president of this country. You need tremendous stamina. A man who can be provoked by a tweet should not have his fingers anywhere near the nuclear code. Clinton questioned whether the businessman is ready to lead a nation. I prepared to be president. And i think that is a good thing. And trump accused clinton of being soft on crime. Secretary clinten doesnt want to use a couple of words. And that is law and order. And we need law and order. Afterwards, trump reacted to his performance. I think we got our point across. She is not going to make America Great again. She has been saying these things for years and nothing ever happens. And Hillary Clinton stop bid a nearby watch party to thank cheering supporters. We were able to talk about what we want to do to get the economy to work for everybody. The candidates are back on the trail today. In Battle Ground states. Clinton in north carolina. And trump in florida. Jamie yuccas, cbs news, hefrplg stead new york. The second of three president ial debates is scheduled for october 9 in st. Louis. And not great for Fire Fighting conditionses, and keeping temperatures hot for us, inland and now future cast showing the beginning of some changes and later tonight as we advance through at 11 00, we start to see the marine layer begin to enhance just the beginning. And not a significant increase through the way and bring temperatures down slightly inland tomorrow and then more significantly, as we move on toward the end of the workweek. And today, the temperatures though, they do remain hot, especially in the south bay, where we have the loma fire burning that is is going to impact air quality in the Santa Clara Valley which is already unhealthy and temperatures in the mid to upper 90s for the warmer spots there and morgan hill and los gatos and 93 cupertino. And along the coast, temperatures are a bit cooler. In the mid to upper 70s. And near 80 along the peninsula. And san mateo, 88. And upper 90s, though, once again, for east bay locations, and still flirting with triple digits in brentwood and antioch and livermore and pleasanton and you may not hit triple digits today but it is probably not going to feel a whole lot different and still going to be hot inland. Closer to the bay, a bit more mild. Temperatures hovering around the 80degree mark. For richmond, almeda, San Francisco. Berkeley, san leandro, and temperatures in the upper 70s, for sausalito and upper 80s for mill valley and upper 80s petaluma. Near 90 in san rafael. 92 novato today. Farther north, temperatures warmer still. We are in the mid to upper 90s. For lakeport. Clear lake. 96 in saint helena. And a look at the sun rise today 7 02. Sunset 6 58. We will start to see a little bit of cooling along the coast as we prepare for the enhancing marine layer over the next couple of days. And today, hot. Tomorrow, still warm. Probably hot for folks who think 90 degrees is hot inland and then thursday, more significant cooling. And dipping down into the low 80s, inland and more fog, more low clouds, along the coast. And even cooler still heading into friday. And saturday, and sunday. And where temperatures will be topping out in the 70s inland and 60s by the bay and 50s and 60s with much more cloud cover, along the coast. Back to you guys. The first president ial debate is in the books and as you probably expect, both candidates are claiming victory. Political analyst melissa king joins us now to break down the performances and melissa, we saw both candidates go right after the opponents perceived weak points. How do you think they did . I think people were happy to see it. Honestly, this campaign feels like america is in a bunch of children of divorced parents, right . They are with one paren and tell you one reality and with the other parent and they tell you the other and at some point you say you guys got to get in a room together and hash this out and thats why to some degree it was pretty satisfying to see the candidate goes after each other last night. So youve got to ask yourself, why wont he release his tax returns . Maybe he doesnt want the american people, all of you watching tonight, to know that he has paid nothing in federal taxes. I will release my tax returns, against my lawyers wishes, when she releases her 33,000 emails that have been deleted. I made a mistake using a private email. That is for sure. And if i had to do it over eye gan, i would obviously do it again, i would obviously do it differently but im not going to make any excuses. It was a mistake and i take responsibility for that. Now, that seemed to put an end to the discussion of Hillary Clintons emails, even later in the debate when there was an issue, the topic of cyber security, donald trump didnt take the opportunity to go after clinton on her email server again. I think a lot of people regarded that as a missed opportunity later in the debate. And one area that we have seen a big divide between the candidates, is the topic of race. What did you think about their approaches to this issue . Well, one of the interesting things about a debate and why we like to watch them, is because if two people have very different ideas about a certain subject, we see them next to each other and race is one of those issues where donald trump is right next to Hillary Clinton showed their differences to be very, very stark. We have our inner cities, africanamericans hispanics, are living in hell, because it is so dangerous. You walk down the street, you get shot. It is really unfortunate that he paints such a dire negative picture of black communities in our country. The vibrancy of the black church, the black businesses that employ so many people, the opportunities that so many families are working to provide for their kids. And of course, the candidates went borth on the stop and terrific issue with donald trump saying it is a good idea, it should be used in certain American Cities and of course Hillary Clinton seriously disagreeing with that. Were there any other moments that stood out to you . One moment went by very quickly and if you blink you might have missed it but it set the internet on fire. See if you can find the offensive statement. I agree with her on one thing. The single greatest problem the world has is nuclear armament, nuclear weapons, not Global Warming, like you think and your president thinks. Now your president , and now that was the phrase that set twitter on fire because donald trump has been accused of delegitimizing president obama with birther comments and it was something that a lot of people took issue with last night. And i think donald trump will be asked about it from time to time from here on in. Definitely. And melissa, interesting to also see right after the debate, donald trump go to the spin room, talks to all of the national reporters, and Hillary Clinton goes to a rally or essentially a watch party. Do you think that that said anything about what the candidates thought about how they performed last night . It showed that trump felt like he needed to do cleanup work and i attended National Debates in 2012, and it is really unusual. Candidate does not go to the spin room. The spin room is for surrogates and so when trump walked in, and folks were in the room were kind of startled that he would show up and actually do his own spin and it seemed to indicate that he needed to do some repair work after his performance last night. All right. Melissa, thank you so much. Thank you. Well be right back. Five thing ,,,,,,, Grocery Shoppers of america take your o organics baby carrots. Take your eggs. Even your o organics chips. Today though, one more hot day in store. And shaving off a couple of degrees over yesterday and probably wont feel a whole lot different for folks inland. Low 90s for the south bay and 70s along the coast today, and near 80 around the bay. And low 90s for the north bay. Air quality will be at issue. An issue for the east bay. And the Santa Clara Valley. Particularly for the Santa Clara Valley in south bay, the fire burning down there and that will contribute to poor air quality. It is a spare the air day bay area wide.
