As we were driving through the Oakland Hills this morning across the bay bridge, those gusts of wind that im talking about were startling. We werent really expect it because like i said, yesterday, it was rainy but today its colder with bite to the air. This happened last night in oakland around 8 00 across skyline boulevard. A tree fell blocking elverton drive for several hours and traffic was stopped so a wood chip her to come through. The big thing today absolutely the cold temperatures. Theres a plan in the works to make the east bay commute a whole lot smoother. Brandnew express lanes are coming to interstate 580. They have been built along a stretch of freeway between pleasanton and livermore. But for now, drivers are admiring the coned off lanes while snuck grid long. The lanes were supposed to be ready by the end of 2015 after previous delays. For now, the mtc says they should be finished by the end of february. Paving is set but signs have to be completed and fastrak tests still need to be done. A new fastrak device is required because they differ from the average carpool setup. Its a carpool with a twist that solo drivers who choose to pay a toll can use the lane. Drivers will need the fastrak flex to use the express lanes. There are different settings for driving by yourself or two people in the carpool. The express name is nicknamed for alexis lane for drivers willing to pay for a speedy commute. This is on mission between fourth and fifth in San Francisco. You can see crews are very busy trying to get this out of roadway. Whats happening is its causing delays on 14 mission muni line. So expect that to be rerouted for right now. We are dealing with all cable car lines that will be serviced by buses instead because of the weather this morning. So again, this is a downed tree blocking lanes on Mission Street between fourth and fifth. Thats going to cause a problem in San Francisco. Over to the freeways we go. Mass transit you might try using bart instead. Thats on time as well as caltrain. We have a Traffic Alert also in san jose on 880 right at bascom northbound we have a tree also down in lanes here two right lanes now blocked until further notice. They are working on getting that out of the way, as well. But you can see the damage is done. Slow any way you look at it out of the south bay this morning. North 680 at mckee a wreck there.
