I took out the umbrella not because im not already drenched with rain but because i want to show you the effect that the wind is having, of course my umbrella is not really moving now. But it did at one point kind of knocked me back and i had to, you know, steady my feet. This is way worse than yesterday thats for sure. As we were driving through the Oakland Hills this morning across the bay bridge, those gusts of wind that im talking about were startling. We werent really expect it because like i said, yesterday, it was rainy but today its colder with bite to the air. This happened last night in oakland around 8 00 across skyline boulevard. A tree fell blocking elverton drive for several hours and traffic was stopped so a wood chip her to come through. The big thing today absolutely the cold temperatures. But when youre in the cold wet weather its always nice to know you have a friend and that friend is kiet do in the south bay for us. How are you holding up . I can tell you that it is colder and wetter now than it was when we were up in the mountains at 2,000 feet yesterday. This storm is no joke. Worse than all week long. After being dry its flowing at near capacity. You can see it reaching the top of the concrete Diversion Channel wall. The ground was already wet from mondays rain. The National Weather service says to expect rain rates of a quarter to half inch per hour for the next three to four hours. That has prompted a Flash Flood Watch for the entire bay area. Theres a plan in the works to make the east bay commute a whole lot smoother. Brandnew express lanes are coming to interstate 580. They have been built along a stretch of freeway between pleasanton and livermore. But for now, drivers are admiring the coned off lanes while snuck grid long. The lanes were supposed to be ready by the end of 2015 after previous delays. For now, the mtc says they should be finished by the end of february. Paving is set but signs have to be completed and fastrak tests still need to be done. A new fastrak device is required because they differ from the average carpool setup. Its a carpool with a twist that solo drivers who choose to pay a toll can use the lane. Drivers will need the fastrak flex to use the express lanes. There are different settings for driving by yourself or two people in the carpool. The express name is nicknamed for alexis lane for drivers willing to pay for a speedy commute.
