Out of santa rosa. About 100 angry protestors spilled out on highway 101 blocking traffic for about half hour. This all started with a rally this afternoon for 13yearold andy lopez. Earlier this week, the d. A. Announced there would be no charges filed against the deputy who shot and killed lopez last year after mistaking the teens toy rifle for the real thing. The protestors are now off the road and were hearing that they headed back to the downtown area and things seem to be quieting down. We are keeping an eye on the situation. If anything happens well let you know. In other news, some work on the central subway tunnel ended up flooding several of the ritzy stores in union square. Firefighters have been out there all day mopping up the mess. We are told some stores had several feet of water in their basements. Kpix 5s brian webb is there with the story. Brian. Reporter well, the cleanup crews have moved in now. They are hard at work sucking that water out of several buildings down geary street in between grant and stockton. That happens to be home to some of the most Expensive Stores in San Francisco. Highend stores at union square were not flooded with shoppers today. They were flooded with water. From Nieman Marcus to chanel and every expensive shop in between. We have several businesses. They all have a lot of standing water in the basements, store rooms with expensive merchandise. Reporter overnight crews punctured an 8 water pipe sending up many thousands of gallons of water drowning some of San Franciscos highest priced real estate in the process. Not to mention some pretty expensive purses. The central subway station construction and their main responsibility is the walls in the stations so that work is what was associated with the water main break. Reporter the leak lasted some 6 hours forcing several stores to close down with so much standing water and electrocution concerns. Dampening sales on a big shopping saturday may be even longer. We have crews working on salvaging merchandise to try to limit the damage to the best we can. Reporter the leak was capped around noon but the damage was already done. A soggy expensive mess inside stores for the filthy rich. All right. So construction crews at last check still trying to figure out where they went wrong and the city is already in talks with some of the businesses about the damage here. Residents will be meeting with the city to discuss the results and decide which they like better. The vta closed several stations around levis stadium this weekend. Crews are racing to finish the upgrades to accommodate extra trains. The closure will speed up the construction. The station will be open monday morning. Forget about vaping on the Golden Gate Bridge. The bridge district just voted to ban Electronic Cigarettes yesterday because of complaints. The ban also applies to ferries and the bridge itself. Signs will go up and the ban kicks in on september 1. Dozens of protestors walked from refinery to refinery today to draw attention to what they call health hazards. Their goal is to heighten awareness of what they say are dirty fuel projects that threaten health and climate. Refinery corridor is also a cancer, asthma, autoimmune disease corridor and a lot of these refineries are they have Expansion Projects in play and they want to bring in more crude by rail. The walks were organized by a group of local native american activists and allies. Their goal is to influence public support upon a transition to cleaner energy sources. Coming up, caught in the act. Palo alto police are looking for a man who harassed and groped a woman in a park in the College Terrace neighborhood. The woman was sitting on a bench in the park when the man started a conversation with her. He then touched her aggressively and tried to kiss her. She was able to push him away. Police describe the man as 45 to 55, about 53 with facial hair and a potbelly. Belmont police are looking for a man who stole at least one package from a home on waterloo court. Surveillance video showed the theft on wednesday. Two similar thefts happened the same day on hallmark drive. The suspect was driving a gray toyota prius or similar vehicle. And if you recognize him, youre asked to call belmont police. Police had no problem catching a suspected car burglar near los angeles. He took off running right into the ocean.
