The teen was a passenger in a white chevy pickup truck going on lafayette street when the truck crashed into a pole. Five others in the truck were hurt. Paramedics rushed the driver and four others to the hospital. Were told their injuries are not lifethreatening. Investigators are still trying to figure out why the pickup swerved. An arrest today in a cold blooded quadruple homicide in San Francisco. In january of last year, someone shot and killed four people as they sat in a car in hayes valley. Ever since, police have been trying to track down the killer. Today they took into custody a man named lee farley. He was already in jail on an unrelated charge. Now he is in jail in San Francisco booked on four counts of murder. In Alameda County a 14year old girl stayed home alone for the first time and a burglar came knocking. Police say Clinton Deforest picked the wrong house and wrong girl to mess with. Wilson walker has her story. It was intense and it was very, very scary. The sheriff showed up in about 3 minutes. They got here so fast so hats off to Alameda CountySheriffs Department. They were amazing. Police say Clinton Deforest is now behind bars in county jail facing burglary charges. Three people have been arrested in a Mountain View home invasion. Police say they forced a woman into a closet while they stole her valuables. She was able to call police but the suspects had taken off only to be picked up at an East San Jose shopping center. They are booked into Santa Clara County jail without bail. New at 6 00 the big name developer is expanding plans for a new hotel in oakland. The project is set for an empty lot on jefferson street near city hall. Kpix 5s da lin live at the site with who is behind the development and the implications beyond just the building. Da. Reporter allen, as co owner lew wolff is going to build a hotel. Maybe after the hotel he could build a stadium in oakland . Fans are dreaming. Just a few years ago, as co owner lew wolff tried to move the team to san jose but now he sees oakland as a rising star and plans to invest millions of dollars in downtown. My view of what well see in two years in downtown is very positive. Reporter he is in l. A. Now but says he will build a Highrise Hotel on this parking lot. You have climate, growth. Finally i think we are seeing all that happening at once. Reporter the hotel will be much bigger than originally planned because his company just signed an agreement to also take over the liquor store next to the parking lot. So now, it will be the length of an entire block. The Highrise Hotel will be around 17 stories high with 248 rooms. Its a marriott franchise. Reporter its a prime location next to the state building, Federal Building and two blocks from city hall. I tnk its great to have not only a hotel but a bigger hotel in downtown oakland. Oakland itself is in desperate need of more hotel space. Reporter francis wall with visit oakland says downtown only has 2,000 hotel rooms. Last year Oaklands Hotel occupancy rate rose to a record high. We used to call ourselves an emerging destination. Were now a booming destination. Everybody is talking about us. If everything goes according to plan, that hotel should open in late 2018 or early 2019. They plan to hire Union Workers to staff the hotel. Four people are dead in the crash of a Medical Transport plain in humboldt county. A pilot was flying a patient, medic and nurse from Crescent City to oakland overnight. The wreckage was spotted north of the arcadiaeureka airport. This video coming in now from the city shows debris along a dirt road through private land owned by a timber company. A search boot Sheriffs Office found the crash by the Sheriffs Office found the crash site. Four bodies are recovered. No names are being released. It was operated by reach air medical services. The ntsb has sent investigators to determine the cause of the crash. Weekend bart riders are in for some serious delays especially if you are heading to sfo. Reporter this weekend bart is shutting down service between glen park and daly city which means balboa park will be closed. We will have express buses that will run from glen park directly to daly city. Reporter bart says making its trains more reliable and safer is the main purpose of these repairs reducing the noise a bonus. So what we are going to do is replace some of the rail. We are going to grind some of the existing rail thats going to stay in place to make it quieter. Reporter bart estimates this repair work will affect roughly 40,000 people. So if you are trying to get to sfo by bart this weekend, bart says give yourself an extra hour of travel time. More bad news for bart passengers. The Alameda County deputy Sheriffs Activity League uses this 50,000 refrigerated trailer for a Community Outreach urban farming program. As a matter of fact, it drove right past our Police Station here and got on to the freeway. Two people are under arrest, one still outstanding n san leandro, anne makovec, kpix 5, in san leandro. A woman in vallejo says she had her car stolen not once but twice by the same man of. It was first stolen tuesday in front of her house with her purse and credit cards in the trunk. She tracked fraudulent charges on those cards to a store. Surveillance video shows a man and woman trying to use multiple cars. Next day the owner of the car used her key remote to find and she did ablock from her house. The same man from the video came running out of a neighbors home. Im screaming, you stole my car. He was punching and digging me. I was reaching for the keys. He said, if you want to live and you dont want to die and dont want to get shot you better get out of this car. The thief knocked her to the ground ran her over. The man in the car was gone by the time police got there. Rohnert park is looking for people with a hunting bow. A family says their male cat came home last week with a wound from a bow or crossbow arrow. The cat is recovering. A new law bans animal shelters from using Carbon Dioxide to out night animals. Firefighters are mopping up after two clearlake brush fires. One burned 20 acres, the other one started in town. Authorities were telling neighbors near Woodland Community college to get out for a time but evacuations were later lifted. Talk about bad coincidence . Last summers rocky fire started on the same day last year destroyed 40 homes of and 50 buildings. It took two weeks to contain t firefighters struggling with the deadly soberanes fire north of big sur. It started a week ago and burned so far 30,000 acres and 15 contained. One person died earlier this week. He was a bulldozer operator called in to help fight the fire. So far, more than 41 homes have been destroyed, 2,000 structures are threatened. The sex scandal rocking east bay Law Enforcement is spreading to San Francisco. The woman at the center of it all is celeste guap, a prostitute. Today an oakland man was sentenced to life in police in prison without parole and 65 years for killing two friends in 2012. Jurors convicted him of Second Degree murder for shooting a 15 yearold and firstdegree murder for killing another person as she ran away begging for her life. He says he was drunk and said they provoked him. Prosecutors in the case call the claim ridiculous. According to police, both girls knew powell and were hanging out in his car before he killed them. The first cases of the zika virus transmitted by mosquitos in the United States have been confirmed. Four people in florida picked up the virus. Health experts say they got it from local mosquitos. While have have been more than 1600 cases reported in the u. S. , these are the only ones that are not linked to travel outside the country. Florida officials are trying to stop it from spreading. While no mosquito traps have tested positive for the zika virus, the department of health is aggressively testing people in the affected areas to ensure there are no other days of this virus.
