Got away. Police have put the neighborhood on lockdown. They are going house to house right now. Armored police cars are driving up and down nearby streets. Helicopters are flying low over calistoga. The suspect has been described as a 24yearold hispanic man with long dark hair. John ramos joins from us the scene on the phone with more. Reporter im at the scene here and its been kind of crazy for about two hours now. There are police from every agency in this area and other areas now. I have seen two different s. W. A. T. Vehicles driving back and forth. And im kind of near the corner of where the residential area where the whole thing happened where they hit the suspect with the car. I just recently saw a bunch of heavily armed s. W. A. T. People going down that street. Im assuming they would have check the area first and thats the area the guy ran from see its possible they are figuring he is closer to this area than they thought but one sheriffs captain told me the entire town of calistoga is considered to be on lockdown because they have no idea they are on the outskirts of the small town and have no idea where the guy ended up. They have people on every corner. Its just real his quite a scene here as they look for this guy. They are asking people to shelter in place which means keep your doors locked, stay inside, so they can search for him and see if they can find him. And john, how big of an area is on lockdown right now . Youre saying there are police on every corner. I asked that. Im not even in town. This is on the edge of town. I asked them, how big an area are you searching . He shrugged. The entire town is considered on lockdown because they dont know how far he was able to get when he took off running and that was around 2 30 p. M. So he has had sometime. If they havent caught him yet, he could be holed up somewhere or quite a distance away. They dont know. And i was told they dont actually know if he is armed or not. But they are saying they should assume thatez. In the meantime they have one suspect in custody. Have they been able to glean any more information from this one suspect . I dont know. They took him by surprise when they pulled him over and he just jumped out and started shooting. They were able to hit him with the car and put him down and were able to take him into custody at that point. And no one as i understand has been hit with any of his gunfire. So give us the lay of the land because i understand that youre up in the air right now. Were looking at live pictures right now as a sheriffs helicopter is circling up above. Give us the lay of the land. Are you in the air or on the ground . What are you seeing right now . Im at the intersection of 128 and Petrified Forest road. Its about 100 yards dow from the scene of the crime. I think i see a chp helicopter circling around the town. A whole close of s. W. A. T. Members started going down the street closer to us where this happened. Its a little street called misty drive. I just saw them a few minutes ago walking down. So i dont know. They dont know exactly where he could have gone. But, you know, you can kind of look around and you see officers over there and officers over there and a guy, you know, standing by a tree with an assault rifle. So they clearly think that he is still in the area. They clearly think that he you know, he is probably on foot and they are assuming he could be armed at this point. John ramos on the scene, we appreciate it. Thank you. We do have our crews working this story in calistoga. You just heard from john there. Well update any information as soon as we get it during this broadcast. Ken. A heartless act to say the least. It happened in livermore. But the way that were doing it right now is just the wrong approach. Reporter supervisor mark farrell says he did not vote for the proposal because Free City College should be talked about during the budget session when all the citys priorities are laid out on the table for debate.
