So when he heard a Real Estate Developer plans to replace the clubs two dozen Tennis Courts with offices and condos, one word came to mind. I think its tragic. Tragic to take away this valuable facility that provides recreation for so many people. Reporter bill isnt alone. The nonprofit San Franciscos for sports and recreation says it has gathered thousands of signatures, qualifying the dwindles recreational space as a front and center issue. Seth socklow says if the voters pass it, any recreational facility in the city, public, or private cannot be torn down before a similar facility gets built. Thats not all. The replacement facility has to be of similar quality, and quantitity. Thats what the measure says. Reporter a spokesperson for the developer says project proponents have heard their concerns. As discussions are still underway, we are not ready to discuss details at this time. We cant tear down everything that isnt a condo, or an office building. Theres got to be some recreation in the city, and theres got to be some protection for that. Reporter in addition to the offices and the condos, this someplace would also have low income housing, and a rec center. The athletes point out that that rec center didnt have any Tennis Courts, and it would be 1 10 the size and the space of what they have here now. The 4th of july is going to be remembered as the night one family lost its home to illegal fireworks. Flames engulfed the garage at the vallejo home just after 1 00 a. M. This happened on dennenger street. Firefighters had to use a chainsaw to get into that home. They say somebody had thrown smoulderring illegal fireworks next to the house. The flames spread into the garage, and eventual to the rest of the home. Investigators say fireworks might have sparked a five acre fire at homes near oakley. Pg and e cut the power to high voltage lines in the area, as firefighters worked to contain those flames. Two people were taken to the hospital, for smoke inhalation. Two people were injured by fireworks in san jose. Police received nearly 30 calls for illegal fireworks last night, officers, they issued 12 criminal citations. This years new Pilot Program did increase the fines for illegal fireworks. First time offense, 500. Second time, 700, and the third time will cost you 1,000. In San Francisco, police made four arrests yesterday, related to illegal fireworks, guns, and drugs. Right now, a showdown taking place over renters rights in oakland. The city council is considering the renter protection act of 2016. That would amend oaklands current ordinance. The two climbed up a power pole and touched a transformer. A pair of stolen kittens returned to an east bay pet store. They were grabbed by two teenage girls at the pet food express in lafayette sunday. The kittens are brothers, up for adoption. A store employee says the girls did come back today in disguise, and they left the kittens and ran. Police are reviewing the store surveillance video. They believe thats where the family was headed when a moment of celebration turned into Something Else entirely. Police say the two children, one riding a scooter and the other a bicycle were just crossing the street with their family to see the fireworks when they were hit. The juvenile who was on the bike was stuck underneath the vehicle and had to be extricated by fire to get removed. The driver stuck around during the investigation, the driver was cooperative, and as of last night, didnt appear that the driver was intoxicated, or had been using narcotics. Reporter its not clear yet just what charges, if any, the driver will face. It will likely depend on how fast she was going at the time of the crash. Its still an ongoing investigation. So until our traffic units do the accident recreation, were not going to know any more additional pending speeds. Reporter in the meantime, just a communitys collective prayer for a speedy recovery. The Police Department says the older of the two boys bore the brunt of that impact. He is currently listed in Critical Condition with a head injury. The younger boy has some broken bones, but is in stable condition, snldz is expected to recover. In morgan hill, devin feely. Eddie garcia is saying his officers dealt with discretion when they dealt with a disturbed man yesterday. Reports of a suicidal man armed with a gun. They were not able to reach that man for about 15 minutes. But during that time, they learned that he was inside the home with a selfinflicted gunshot wound to the head. At one point, the subject emerged, and at one point, pointed the weapon towards the officers. At that point, two officers fired at least one round from rifles from across the street, striking the subject. The officers are on routine administrative leave. They were not wearing body cameras. Uc berkely students placed flowers and wrote messages of peace at sprawl plaza. They are paying tribute to sophomore tarishi jain who died in the attacks. Those who knew her said the 19 yearold was a very smartambitious woman with a huge heart. An investigation into San Mateo Community College Security finds some gaps. The fbi also found thousands of emails that clinton had deleted, and not turned over to the fbi. Three of those were classified. If the Justice Department accepts the recommendation, fbi director james comeys announcement closes the case for clinton, but not without a heavy dose of criticism. There is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive highly classified information. Shortly after the announcement, Clintons Campaign reiterated remarks calling her email use a mistake that would not happen again. Neither she, nor president obama broached the subject in charlotte. He basically said these were common sense mistakes and clinton should have known better. There is evidence to support a conclusion that any reasonable person in secretary clintons position, or in the position of those with whom she was corresponding about those matters, should have known that an unclassified system was no place for that conversation. Comey also raised the possibility that people outside the u. S. Had access to clintons personal email account. She also used her personal email extensively while outside the united states, including sending and receiving work related emails in the territory of sophisticated adversaries. We assess it is possible that hostile actors gained access to secretary clintons personal email account. Even after all of this, comey said no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case.
