Doctors doesnt know if that case is connected to the case in San Francisco. But here at sf, Health Officials say fake xanax already killed one woman and they want to warn folks about these counterfeit pills before more people die. The Health Department says last week paramedics rushed two men and a woman to a San Francisco hospital after they took pills thought to be xanax. Paramedics found a fourth person already dead in the same home. Doctors say the xanax pills turned out to be fake and contained an extremely strong chemical known as fentanyl which can cause overdose and death. This is particularly concerning to me because it involves a pill xanax that is commonly bought by people who are looking to, say, come down interest a night of partying. Reporter the medical examiner says the San Francisco woman who died is 34yearold andria choi. Doctors say the pill on the right is the counterfeit the victims took. On the left, the real xanax. The front and back almost almost identical to a real xanax pill. Its hard to distinguish them. Reporter they say recreational drug users often buy them to knock themselves out on the street. We found some on craigslist selling for six bucks. San Francisco Health officers will talk to the Contra Costa County Health Department to see if they are dealing with the same problems. Yesterday, paramedics rushed 7 Pinole Valley High School students to the emergency room. Those kids say they took xanax but doctors dont to yet if those were real or fake pills. Reporter actually five of those students were taken to the hospital two were released to their parents. All seven are doing okay now but Pinole Valley High School has suspended all seven students. Juanita has been a friend of the residents living at bella gardens for the last two years after she was found abandoned at four days old. She got over a fence and got lost last month. A neighbor found her and she was taken to wild care where she remains. The permit is the federal Migratory Bird special purpose possession education permit for live birds. It requires a minimum of 100 hours of training in the care of live birds. Chief meteorologist paul deanno is tracking the storm. I found this picture online about 2 minutes ago of a place called bahia de camilla. This is a picturesque beautiful place where landfall happened with at least recorded winds of 185 miles an hour. That beach will look nothing like that for months. Thats where it happened the beautiful west coast of mexico. Theres patricia at a time early today the strongest western hemisphere hurricane on record. Its still a category 5 storm despite its now moved over land. 160 sustained and 200 gusts. Its going to be a huge rainmaker for mexico and the state of texas. Lets talk about how we got to this huge powerful storm. A view from outer space is enough to see why patricia is the largest and strongest hurricane ever recorded. The cyclone intensified from a Tropical Storm to a category 5 hurricane in less than 24 hours. The potential forepast cause death and destruction is prompt for patricia to cause death and destruction is prompting thousands to flee inland. Puerto vallarta and the airport is closed until further notice. First lieutenant lisa and her reconnaissance crew flew into the hurricane. I can relate it to as a roller coaster. That constant dropping out of your stomach. Reporter she says the storm is not weakening at least not yet. When we left it, it was still intensifying and needed three passes through the eye last night and each one we did kept getting stronger and stronger. Reporter patricia could dump as much as 20 inches of rain in some parts of mexico causing flooding and triggering mud slides. What is is left of the storm should drift north where its already flooding in the state of texas. Speaking of texas, everywhere in yellow on this map right here is expecting rainfall more than 5 of rainfall flooding rain for the eastern half of texas. So even though the storm itself isnt hitting texas directly its going to be a mess in the deep south of america because of Hurricane Patricia. She was evacuated from her hotel and had to catch a bus to guadalajara. And that is where she will try to get a flight home to San Francisco sometime this weekend. Well, on to the campaign trail now. See this there . Thats some of the moisture being pulled to the north and into the jet stream. Some of thats going to be in your backyard next week. For this weekend, a mixture of sun and clouds as this ridge sags to the south, storms clouds hitting the ridge going over the ridge, but now over the ridge means some of that cloud cover is being steered into the bay area. Thats why it wasnt as sunny today and wont be over the weekend. Next wednesday, the ridge moves into a perfect spot to our south to allow some of that tropical moisture to move in. And even though the heaviest stuff will likely be to our north and the coast of oregon well tap into some of that rainfall. On average im going for. 25 of rain, heavier to the north and that could change. We hope it changes to the higher coming up over the next couple of days but rain is likely next wednesday. An east bay teenager is rising above challenges at home to find Great Success at school. Kpix 5s wendy tokuda shows us how she is growing up without her parents and balancing two very different worlds. Reporter this may not look like learning to you or this. But for brittany it is. Having knowledge and learning about the things opens up your opportunities. I said that i dont think reporter brittney has close to perfect grades this year and holy names high a private Parochial School in the hills. But even at lunchtime, she is getting an education. Brittany had to learn how to adjust and exist in a world of privilege. Reporter brittany got here on a scholarship from a nonprofit called achieve which sends low nick kids to college prep schools. Low income kids to college prep schools. Some of her classmates have no idea what her home life is like. I never went to the doctor regularly. Never really, uhm reporter or the dentist . The dentist. Never really done that regularly. Reporter she takes the bus and bart home to east oakland which has one of the highest poverty and crime rates in the bay area. Her father has been in san quentin for 17 years. I asked her why. I dont know really. Reporter is it something you would almost rather not know . Yes. Sometimes. Um, yeah. Hes turned over a new leaf, i believe, and i i like to focus on the positive. Reporter brittany has lived with her grandmother almost birthed almost since birth. Her mother has been in and out of jail. She is not there as a mother. Reporter show brittany has latched on to programs like girls, inc. , students rising above. She knows how to find resources. Reporter achieve counselor linda perez gave us an example. When she offered a math tutor to help some of its struggling students it was brittany who was in honors geometry and had a b plus that said i want to get tutored because i want an a. Reporter which she did. I was lucky enough to have a support system. Brittany creates her own luck because she is assertive and, you know, she is determined. She sees an opportunity. She focuses on it. And she goes for it. She has learned a lot from her lived experiences from what she has been through. I admire her wisdom. Dont try to be like everyone else.
