I understand this is not the first time that this has happened at this address. Reporter no, it isnt. In fact, about a month and a half ago, another thief came and did get away with a package and it was caught on video, but the thief only got away with a box of shampoo. So, you know, shampoo and some packing equipment, um, crime doesnt pay at this house, at least. Wow. All right, len ramirez reporting live from san jose, thank you, len. One person is dead and three others badly injured following a Small Plane Crash in sonoma county. The singleengine plane went down just before 1 00 this afternoon in a field off san luis road in schellville. The plane had just taken off when something went wrong. Chopper 5 overhead showing you the wreckage of the plane. It is based out of palo alto. But theres no word yet on who was killed. You can also see that huge red and white parachute attached to the plane. The coast guard video shows you how the parachute is supposed to gently lower a plane thats lost power. They claim its parachutes have saved 142 lives. It appears the parachute did deploy in todays crash. The faa is investigating. The sfpd is investigating this nasty wipeout. A skateboarder went flying over a patrol car. Some witnesses say an officer deliberately bumped the skater. Kpix 5s da lin on a witness who captured the entire incident on video. Da. Reporter right, liz. There are two videos capturing this collision at an unpermitted skateboarding event at dolores park tuesday night. What the videos dont and cannot capture is the sergeants intent, but a lot of folks within the skateboarding Community Want that sergeant fired. Oh reporter skateboarder joel hamill shot the video with his cell phone and has watched it countless times. He believes the sergeant leaned in to bump the skateboarder coming downhill. I definitely think it was intentional. Reporter this is the result of the collision. The victim goes by antioch on instagram and has post the pictures of him in the hospital and his injured knee. On instagram, he says he has a broken ankle, a torn tendon in the knee and sprained fingers. He is waiting for mri and ct scans to finalize surgery decisions. Its an intentional act that easily could have killed the kid. He was flipping through the air. Reporter witnesses at the scene identified this person as the sergeant involved in the collision. San Francisco Police would not confirm that or release the name of the sergeant. They say the collision hurt the sergeants shoulder and he is now recovering at home. Its very difficult to get an entire picture of what happened from just a few seconds of video. Reporter they say the sergeant could have been bracing for impact or reacting to a skateboarder coming fast in his direction. Aside from the videos posted on social media, investigators will be reviewing the sergeants chest cam. They want to see if the sergeant did anything wrong. You dont know if he was leaning back to avoid it. Thats entirely possible, as well. So in this case, we didnt even get to speak to that individual because he ran away from the scene after he fell over the patrol car. Reporter san Francisco Police are not releasing the sergeants chest cam at this time. And no timeline as to when they will conclude the investigation. President trump continued to defend his sons june 2016 meeting with a russian attorney with alleged ties to the kremlin. He took a meeting with a russian lawyer, not a government lawyer but a russian lawyer. Reporter the president said he believes the press made it a bigger deal than it is. Most people would have taken that meeting. Its called Opposition Research or Even Research into your opponent. Reporter according to emails, donald trump, jr. Released them, that Opposition Research was supposed to be compromising material on Hillary Clinton that allegedly came from the russian government. Nothing happened from the meeting. Zero happened from the meeting. Reporter some lawmakers insist this email exchange could be a smoking gun targeting not only the president and his son, but his soninlaw and Senior Adviser Jared Kushner who also attended the meeting. We saw cold, hard evidence of the trump campaign, indeed the trump family, eagerly intended to collude, possibly, with russia. Reporter cbs news confirms that special Counsel Robert Mueller and congress are looking into whether the trump campaigns digital operation headed by kushner coordinated with russians to target voters with fake news stories on facebook and twitter. Nevertheless, Majority Leader Mitch Mcconnell insists that the Upper Chamber will vote on the legislation next week. However, he still has a lot of work to do to swing the vote. Madam president. Reporter senators are getting a look at his latest plan to repeal and replace obamacare. The revised draft improves on the previous version in a number of ways all while retaining the fundamental goals of providing stability and improving affordability. Reporter this draft has billions of dollars in opiod funding and puts more money into tax credits to help low income americans pay for coverage. But moderate republican susan collins, who calls the cuts to medicaid devastating, says thats not enough to winner had vote. For conservatives, the bill has been tweaked to include senator ted cruzs proposal to allow insurers to sell skimpier policies, something democrats are honing in on. One word which i think applies is junk, ha. What we dont want is junk insurance. Reporter this new version of the bill leaves in place some of the obamacare taxes on the wealthy. And at least one conservative says that makes it even worse than the first version. We were elected on message of repeal. And this bill doesnt repeal obamacare. Reporter mcconnell will need to win the support of almost every republican senator to get the bill passed next week. Senators will see a score on this bill from the Nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office early next week. The first version of the bill shows that 22 million americans would lose Insurance Coverage by 2026. Well see what the numbers are for this version. Thank you. The massachusetts senator thinks that the banks board was asleep at the wheel during the fake account disaster and she now wants the Federal Reserve chief, janet yellen to remove most of the banks directors, sending a message to wall street. If Bank Directors who preside over the firing of thousands of employees for creating millions of fake accounts can keep their jobs, then i think every Bank Director in the country knows that they are bulletproof. I drove past the fire around s video. Businesses gutted after a threealarm fire tore through a building in downtown lafayette overnight. I drove past that fire about midnight, shot this video just as the flames took over that building and lit up the sky. This afternoon, we sent skydrone5 up over the top to get a look at the damage left behind. As Jessica Flores reports, the investigation into what sparked this fire is just getting started. Reporter the flames shooting in the air in downtown lafayette seen for miles around. Fire crews spent the Early Morning on the defensive, trying to battle back the flames and smoke and keep embers from flying into nearby apartments. We did evacuate three buildings initially because of the amount of radiant heat. We also had some propane tanks that were exploding, and so we wanted to make sure everybody was safe from that. Reporter nearly 7 hours into their firefight, crews were still putting out hot spots and dumping water on the charred building, home to the chamber of commerce, a restaurant and a number of small businesses. On fire watch right now just north of los angeles, dozens of firefighters are battling a threealarm brush fire in santa clarita. Additional firefighters were called in as a precaution. A helicopter dumping water is also in the air. Traffic on route 5 is backed up for miles as firefighters try to control the blaze. Azar toga man is under arrest after a saratoga man is under arrest after reporting he just shot his roommate. When deputies arrived they found a woman with one gunshot wound. She died at the hospital. No names have been released. Higher water bills if you live in san jose. State regulators just approved a rate hike proposal from the san jose water company. And aficials say that the extra cash will help the Santa Clara Valley Water District repair and replace infrastructure. As if air travel wasnt already frustrating enough, get ready to pay more for the privilege. Prices on delta are up for the first time in more than two years. And both delta and American Airlines say they expect fares to keep climbing. To offset rising costs and keep up with strong demand, the demand is obvious at bay area airports like mineta. We expect doubledigit increases in passenger traffic based upon the schedule through the end of the year. U. S. Airlines have struggled to raise fares in recent years despite full planes. Reporter even right now as we speak, theres roughly a dozen surfers in the waves off steamers lane north of the boardwalk in santa cruz, despite all the signs that are posted warning about this recent shark attack and the fact that the beach is officially closed for 36 more hours. In santa cruz, where theres sun, sand and surf, there will be surfers even just two days after a shark attack. I dont think the possibility of a shark attack happening is much different, like, a few days after an attack than normal. Reporter despite the warning he and his father went in just north of the boardwalk in santa cruz. We took the greater risk riding highway 17 getting over here. And i didnt think it was a very big risk. But i tell bobby the same thing. I said, stay in the middle of the pack. There are about 40 surfers out there. Reporter officially the beaches are closed until sunrise saturday after a shark attacked a kayaker in the area tuesday. This attack stands out. What was different this time is that it was an actual predatory style attack not just a sighting, not a swimming by and bumping somebody but actual appears with intent to eat. Reporter the Fire Department is urging people to stay out of the water. They also know there is little they can do to stop surfers determined to catch a wave despite the warnings. Just think its safer to give a little break, make sure nothing else happens before letting people back in the water. Reporter now, there have been no additional sightings or any shark attacks since tuesdays attack. The kayaker is fine. The coast guard really urging everyone, lifeguards here in the area, urging everyone to heed the warnings to stay out of the water until the beaches official reopen on saturday at sunrise.
