A murder suspect with a loaded gun was holed up in his car while s. W. A. T. Teams tried to get him to come out. Kpix 5s Juliette Goodrich is live in martinez where the suspect is now in custody. Juliette. Reporter thats 38yearold greg and he has residence here in martinez and walnut creek. He is accused of shooting and killing a former girlfriend. For 19 hours this entire neighborhood was shut down resident sheltered in place during the standoff. All night and day s. W. A. T. Officers surround the car in martinez. He had a handgun and two knives and threatened to kill himself and negotiators. Some might ask why so long and the reason is preservation of Life Reporter during negotiations he was hallucinating from illegal drugs. He is suspected of shooting and kill a woman in walnut creek near the lindsey wildlife experience. She was pronounced dead at the scene. But police say the suspect was a threat to himself and others. This photo shows him holding a weapon last night. At one point, he came out of his car but didnt surrender. One of our tactical members shot him with a less than lethal round. The round struck gregory on the right side on his injuries and he had a minor injury from that. Reporter an hour later the suspect throws his weapons out of the car a knife and gun but he still is armed with another knife. At that point, the decision was made that we will inject gas into the car. [ shot ] [ three shots ] within 10 seconds or so, gregory came out of the vehicle with his hands up. Reporter nearby residents captured video of the suspect after he surrendered and was taken away on a stretcher. Other residents were caught off guard with unexpected visitors. I go upstairs, three snipers all laid out in my room and their guns and everything laid out on my bed. I dont know what im looking for but i just want to get out of here reporter as for the woman who was killed, we have learned she is 47 years old. She was dating the suspect. And she was shot four times in the face and the body. Now, we also learned that gregory didnt drive here by himself. He was driven by a friend here when they were pulled over by police that friend got out and cooperated. Gregory stayed in the car. In martinez, Juliette Goodrich, kpix 5. Scary situation in fairfield. Businesses were evacuated after a suspicious device was discovered inside a warehouse and it could be linked to three firebombing incidents in that city. Kpix 5s veronica de la cruz is following this story. Reporter ken, this latest bomb was found just before noon today. Police were called to the warehouse near airbase parkway and walters road. The device was near chemicals posing an even greater risk if it blew up. Hours earlier just miles away there was a series of firebombings. The first firebomb was at 10 00. It happened at an apartment complex on north texas street. An hour later, a car fire broke out nearby. And then at about 1 a. M. , an explosion and fire right outside the Fairfield Police department. Heres a look at the apartment complex where the first incident happened. The suspect allegedly threw a firebomb through a window. Police say he lived in the apartment complex and was targeting two of his neighbors. They are both okay. Police arrested 39yearold matthew jones. They say he had used racial slurs towards the neighbors. Jones was booked into Solano County jail for several charges including attempted murder and committing a hate crime. Thank you. The governor campaigned heavily for the bill and agreed to provide nearly 1 billion in side deals to the districts of lawmakers who were on the fence.
