Intelligence agencies collected information on President Trump and his team. Looks to me like it was all legally collected. But it was essentially a lot of information, um, on the president elect and his Transition Team and what they were doing. Reporter nunes briefed the white house but still hasnt shared the information with his Intelligence Committee which is investigating alleged russian interference in the president ial election. These allegations simply raise doubt about whether the committee can do its work. And i think that more than anything else i have seen, this makes the most profound case for the formation of an independent commission. Reporter chairman nunes says he believes the intelligence was not collected as part of an fbi investigation into Trump Campaign connections with russia. An investigation that took a turn wednesday. A new Associated Press report claims former Trump Campaign chairman Paul Manafort made millions of dollars working for russian billionaire from 2006 until 2009. The billionaire is a close associate of russian president vladimir putin. According to the ap, manafort wrote a Strategy Plan for the billionaire in 2005 where he said he would influence politics, business dealings and News Coverage inside the United States, europe and the former soviet republic to benefit the putin government. Manafort confirmed he worked for the Russian Oligarch but called it a smear campaign. In a statement, he said, my work did not involve representing russias political interests. Craig boswell, cbs news, capitol hill. New at 5 00 a team of experts now says if the main spillway at the oroville dam doesnt work in time for the next rainy season, there is a very significant risk. A federal team of investigators is looking into that damaged dam. Nearly 200,000 people were told to evacuate last month after the main and auxiliary spillways were both damaged during the storms. People below the dam have been given the all clear. Technically, they were still covered by an evacuation warning. That warning officially lifted today. Take a live look outside. They grabbed some cans of spray paint and launched their own Street Safety campaign. Kpix 5s Jessica Flores tells us, the city has now taken notice. Jessica. Reporter i spoke to the woman who started it all started marking all the potholes along thornhill drive and she tells me she did it out of necessity. She couldnt see them during her earlymorning drive. Now that back breaking work is paying off. 1. 1 miles up thornhill and im home. Reporter for a long time this oakland resident living along thornhill drive in oakland is heavenly. Thats if you can avoid the mine field of potholes. That one hit it, too. It got so bad that if i went through it again i wouldnt come out on the other side with the whole car. Reporter so she bought paint and started marking the road along with a friend drawing arrows and circles. One by one, for a mile stretch. She says the road has been a problem for months but then the city took notice after the paint hit the pavement. Public works crews today spent hours filling in hundreds of holes along thornhill drive near moraga avenue and up the hill. But soon after the gravel flying off as cars zoomed by. Neighbor ed would like to see a more permanent fix. They dont use a pressure roller and it gets flipped out by the cars within a day or two. So this is your basic lipstick on a pig event here. We are learning a 73yearold woman was the victim of an unprovoked attack police say a man kicked her in the head, knocking her unconscious. It happened on a richmond bound train between the san leandro and coliseum bart stations. Officers took that man into custody. Despite some loud protests today, Cal State University students will be paying more to earn their degrees. Trustees approved a tuition hike. 5 increase will raise the cost for students by about 270 a year for the 20172018 school year. Officials say undergraduates tuition will cost more than 5,700 a year. The University System says that the hike was necessary to hire more faculty and add more classes. Governor brown stole the spotlight today in washington, dc with his attack on the Healthcare Plan by the gop. Veronica de la cruz has that. Reporter yeah, liz. Browns attack came as california issued a report claiming that the gop plan would cost the state billions of dollars. Reporter she arrived in court decked out in fur facing charges for illegally selling clothing made from endangered species. An anonymous tip led to this raid of cicely hansens vintage Clothing Store in the haight last year netting over 150 items made from turtles, leopards, jaguars, seals and other species. All my grandmothers leopard collars, all her must have, all that are gone. Reporter at the time she told kpix 5 that many of the confiscated items were personal family heirlooms stored in the basement and not intended for sale but according to Court Records undercover fish and wildlife wardens say they tried on illegal items including a jaguar coat priced at 4,500. We have one low pressure area moving out. Thats storm number 2 of the week. But storm number 3 is really not that far away. Rain arrives from it as soon as just after midnight friday morning. Lets time it out because tomorrow morning we start off with sunshine. No rain tomorrow morning. We are done with the rainfall after this evening. By the afternoon, well begin to see some cloud cover building in especially in the north bay but the rain stays to the north until just after midnight tomorrow night early friday morning the north bay getting some light rainfall. By 10 00, that rain crosses the golden gate. And begins to head south and east but the heaviest rain by far remains in the north bay. The heavy rain moves south. Friday evening commute, getaway day, you want to get away for the weekend, its going to be a slow slog out of San Francisco. Its going to be pouring between 3 and 5 p. M. Friday. Gone by friday night. Saturday morning no rain on the radar and all of saturday is mainly dry. We have been talking about friday being the wettest day of the week and heres why. San francisco, san rafael, santa rosa, an inch of rainfall. Nearly an inch for san jose. Another inch almost for concord and redwood city nearly one inch of rainfall. So pretty sloppy, not tomorrow, but friday. Dry now through thursday night. Soaking rain hits the north bay first midnight friday morning. Well be wet friday afternoon everywhere. But the rain is gone by saturday morning. Highs tomorrow even with the sunshine not that warm. Next week looking drier. The wettest day of the week is friday.
