Happened happened in the middle of 11th street. The gunmen opened fire several times and there are several bullet casings in the street. At 2 11 p. M. Today San Jose Police got a call of a shooting right at the corner of 11th and san antonio. Officers found two men with at least one gunshot wound each. They were both found inside a vehicle that had also been hit with gunfire and they were both taken to the hospital where one of them died. We can see a gray minivan stopped in the far right lane of 11th street in the middle of the crime scene. But a Police Spokesman could not confirm if that minivan was involved. We can also see officers held several people for questioning right on greek row a collection of frat houses a block over from san jose state. Detectives said it didnt appear to be connected to any of the residences along the street. Witnesses saw the gunmen fleeing on foot or possibly in a vehicle. How much danger is in the public in now . The suspect fled the area and thats all we know. Reporter police are describing the condition of the other victim as very critical. Traffic is a mess here so stay away. Kiet do, kpix 5. We have more breaking news this evening. We are hearing reports that a child has been killed after being hit by a car in oakley. Chopper 5 just over the scene. It happened in afternoon on east cypress road near Bethel Island road. The car was towed from the scene just a few minutes ago. Two other people were also injured in the accident. One of them has major injuries. Police have closed off the road during the investigation causing major traffic delays. Tragedy on a california freeway. Six people from two bay area families killed in an Early Morning crash. It happened in Southern California on the stretch of i 5 known as the grapevine near the town of gorman. This is the kind of story that changes lives not only of the people who are involved but also those who are a part of the response. It was supposed to be a family trip. But it ended in flames along i 5 on the grapevine early this morning. I have never seen anything this bad in my career. It will be difficult. Reporter two mothers and four children died. The fathers airlifted to the hospital for burns after trying to save their families from the burning van. It was hard. We had to pull them away from the vehicle. Obviously they wanted to help their families and we had to keep them away from the vehicle. Reporter officer jeff burdock and his partner rushed to help the two fathers. Burdick tried to put out the burning minivan with the fire extinguisher but couldnt get close. All he and his partner could do was comfort the two distraught fathers and keep them safe. Were devastated. It was very horrific seeing them trying to get their families out us trying to help. Reporter one family lives in daly city, the other in the Visitacion Valley neighbors of San Francisco. The families were too distraught to talk to us but chp says it started at 3 30 a. M. When the families rented minivan got into a minor accident and pulled to the shoulder. A portion of the van was still in the lane and this semi hit it, setting the van ablaze. The semi driver told chp, he hadnt seen it. Once the flames caught, they burned too hot to do anything but watch it happen. They were holding on to us trying to comfort them as much as we could.
